Genome Analysis Pipeline I/O Workload Analysis (유전체 분석 파이프라인의 I/O 워크로드 분석)

  • As size of genomic data is increasing rapidly, the needs for high-performance computing system to process and store genomic data is also increasing. In this paper, we captured I/O trace of a system which analyzed 500 million sequence reads data in Genome analysis pipeline for 86 hours. The workload created 630 file with size of 1031.7 Gbyte and deleted 535 file with size of 91.4 GByte. What is interesting in this workload is that 80% of all accesses are from only two files among 654 files in the system. Size of read and write request in the workload was larger than 512 KByte and 1 Mbyte, respectively. Majority of read write operations show random and sequential patterns, respectively. Throughput and bandwidth observed in each processing phase was different from each other.

  • Recently, the high speed train was operated and then the train system's reliability requirements are growing more and more. The exact prediction simulation is necessary in the design of power feeding system by the increase of railway electrification. In order to develope the AC feeding system analysis technology, real-time power simulator was manufactured. It is composed to eight channels analog input, forty channels analog output and forty-eight channels digital I/O. The size of simulator rack is 19" and the two I/O boards are installed the PXI chassis built into the real time os. The signal I/O is possible through BNC connector. The test results of manufactured simulator are obtained that the error range of analog I/O signal is below 1 % and simulation condition is set to 1 ms and the simulation output of the analog output compares the results of the simulator.

  • 본 논문에서는 I/O 트레이스 리플레이어들의 분석을 통해 SSD 성능 평가에 적합한 리플레이어를 찾는다. 또한 저장장치의 성능 비교를 위한 척도로써 적합한 척도를 도출한다. 실험결과, 시간 리플레이어가 I/O 트레이스 리플레이어로써 적합함을 밝히고, Q2C의 합이 성능 평가에 적합한 척도임을 보인다.

  • 최근 콘텐츠 전송 네트워크(content delivery network, CDN)와 클라우드 컴퓨팅(cloud computing)을 결합하여 효과적으로 콘텐츠를 전달하기 위한 방법이 대두되고 있으며 이와 같이 클라우드 컴퓨팅과 결합하여 서비스되는 CDN을 클라우드 CDN 이라고 칭한다. 본 논문에서는 클라우드 CDN 환경에서의 효과적인 가상 머신 (virtual machine, VM) 관리를 위한 캐시서버(caching server)로써의 VM의 네트워크 I/O 성능 분석을 다룬다. 해당 성능 분석은 엔드 유저(end-user)들과 캐시서버 간 동영상 스트리밍(streaming)을 통하여 이루어졌으며 해당 캐시 서버의 네트워크 I/O 성능에 영향을 주는 다양한 경우에 대하여 진행되었다. 본 논문에서의 성능 분석은 클라우드 CDN 환경에서의 데이터센터(datacenter) 선택 및 요청 라우팅(routing) 등에 적용될 수 있다.

  • Studies have been perfor mad on the normalization of V-I characteristics, the dependence of current runaway on the applied step voltage and the analysis of the current channet in the sintered 5Fe$_2$O$_3$-5Bi$_2$O$_3$. From the measurement of snitching Properties of the sintered 5Fe$_2$O$_3$-5Bi$_2$O$_3$, it is exe]twined that the electrical switching mechanism is that of thermal ionic breakolown.

An Empirical Study on the Industrial Cluster in Korea (한국의 산업클러스터에 관한 실증연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to distinguish industrial clusters in Korea. Based on I/O table in 2000, coefficient matrix was calculated and factor analysis was performed on the matrix. Among 38 derived industrial clusters, 5 of them were unreported clusters, which were indistinguishable. Once these 38 industrial clusters were differentiated according to I/O table, final results of clusters were produced as I/O table was converted into KSIC (Korean Standard Industry Code). Since existing studies on industrial cluster have been focused on qualitative methods such as case studies and interviews, it is expected that this study could contribute to carry out more systematic and efficient methodology.

  • Performance optimization of applications with massive stream data processing has been performed by considering I/O data coherency problem where a memory is shared between processors and hardware accelerators. A formula for performance analyses is derived based on profiling results of system-level simulations. Our experimental results show that overall performance was improved by 1.40 times on average for various image sizes. Also, further optimization has been performed based on the parameters appeared in the derived formula. The final performance gain was 3.88 times comparing to the original design and we can find that the performance of the design with cacheable shared memory is not always.

  • In this paper, we present a set of methodologies to model the electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) testing of I/O buffers for mobile system memory based on the bulk current injection (BCI) method. An efficient equivalent circuit model is developed for the current injection probe, line impedance stabilization network (LISN), printed circuit board (PCB), and package. The simulation results show good correlation with the measurements and thus, the work presented here will enable electromagnetic susceptibility analysis at the integrated circuit (IC) design stage.

  • In this paper, we proposed a multimedia hardware architecture for video-conferencing in view of the multimedia data flow. By simulating the architecture model, we analyzed the bottleneck of multimedia data flow, varying video size, frame rate, number of participants, and video data compression rate. To confirm the simulation results, we also implemented and tested the architecture that almost includes the analyzed requirements for video- conferencing. From the analysis of I/O system, we found the considerations in designing a multimedia I/O system.

Sonochemical Synthesis, Thermal Studies and X-ray Structure of Precursor [Zr(acac)3(H2O)2]Cl for Deposition of Thin Film of ZrO2 by Ultrasonic Aerosol Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition

  • A new precursor [$Zr(acac)_{3}(H_{2}O)_{2}$] was synthesized by Sonochemical technique and used to deposit thin $ZrO_{2}$ film on quartz and ceramic substrate via ultrasonic aerosol assisted chemical vapour deposition (UAACVD) at 300 ${^{\circ}C}$ in oxygen environment followed by annealing of the sample for 2-3 minutes at 500 ${^{\circ}C}$ in nitrogen ambient. The molecular structure of the precursor determined by single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the molecules are linked through intermolecular hydrogen bonds forming pseudo six and eight membered rings. DSC and TGA/FTIR techniques were used to determine thermal behavior and decomposition temperature of the precursor and nature of evolved gas products. The optical measurement of annealed $ZrO_{2}$ film with tetragonal phase shows optical energy band gap of 5.01 eV. The particle size, morphology, surface structure and composition of deposited films were investigated by XRD, SEM and EDX.
