Design of a General Purpose I/O Suitable for Embedded Systems (임베디드 시스템에 적용 가능한 범용 I/O 설계)

  • In this contribution, we designed a general purpose input/output (GPIO) suitable for embedded systems, especially for Bluetooth baseband. Proposed architecture is compatible for the APB bus in AMBA bus architecture. General purpose I/O should be used as multi-functional and versatile interrupt sources. We considered the edge-sensitive mode as well as the level-sensitive mode for acquiring the interrupt sources. Also, we provided an option to select the operation polarity for flexible application to the embedded systems. The designed GPIO module was automatically synthesized, placed, and routed. Implementation was performed through the Altera FPGA and well operated at 25MHz clock frequency.

  • 연구 개발의 주된 내용은 SDL(Specification Description Language)을 위한 정형기법 지원도구 중 명세상에서 행위 부분에 대한 동적 특성을 검정하는 검정기 개발이다. 모델 검정기는 해당 프로토콜에 대해 생성된 중간 모델 I/O FSM(Input/Output Finite State Machine)에 Modal-calculus에 의해 검정대상인 deadlock, livelock, reachability 및 liveness에 대한 표현과 I/O FSM에 대해 해당 알고리즘 적용 및 분석 기능을 C++언어로 구현하였다. 또한 SDL Editer 기능과 관련된 도구들과 통합하여 사용자들이 쉽고 편하게 쓸 수 있도록 환경 및 통합 모듈을 구현한다.

  • 요즘 값싼 PC를 빠른 네트웍으로 묶어 높은 성능을 얻고자하는 클러스터 컴퓨팅에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 연구 중 클러스터 컴퓨팅 환경을 구성하는 여러 컴퓨터들을 하나의 컴퓨터처럼 보이게 해주는 단일 시스템 이미지 서비스는 사용자에게 쓰기 편리한 환경과 높은 가용성을 제공하여 준다. 단일 시스템 이미지 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 단일 프로세스 공간, 단일 메모리 공간 및 단일 디스크 입출력을 제공하여 주어야 한다. 단일 디스크 입출력은 여러 컴퓨터에 나누어져 있는 디스크들을 하나의 큰 디스크로 보여주고 여러 디스크들을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 서비스를 제공한다. 이러한 단일 디스크 입출력을 사용자 수준이나 파일 시스템 수준에서 제공하여 주는 것은 성능 측면이나 투명성의 측면에서 커널 모듈로 제공하여 주는 것 보다 좋지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 단일 디스크 입출력을 위하여 커널 모듈 프로토타입을 설계하고 구현한다. 그리고 네트웍 파일 시스템과 단일 디스크를 이용하여 단일 디스크 입출력을 위한 터널 모듈의 성능과 비교, 분석한다.

  • This study aims at developing the high speed/intelligent machining system suing the plug/play method of an open architecture controller. The plug/play technology by the Application Specific Function (ASF), can readily implement the open architecture controller into various machining system or other automatic equipments. For the open architecture controller, this study developed the open HMI, screen editor, ASF, visual builder, and controller OS technology as software components. On the other hand, we developed the I/O module and main board as control hardware system. This study, as an example, presents integration of individual component technologies for the plug/play type open architecture CNC system.

  • As the number of mobile subscribers has increased recently, the demand for more number of base stations has increased. However, because of the shortage of sites for constructing base stations, a mobile communication module needs to be small in size. To minimize the size of the module, the size of the heat sink attached to the outside of the module should be minimized. Furthermore, the temperature of each electronic component of the module should be lower than the allowable temperature so that thermal stability can be maintained. A commercial PIDO (process integration and design optimization) tool PIAnO and a commercial CFD (computational fluid dynamics) tool FLOTHERM are used to minimize the size of the module while the constraints on the temperatures of the twelve electronic components are satisfied. As a result of design optimization, the volume of the heat sink is reduced by 41.9% while all the constraints on the temperature of the twelve electronic components of the module are satisfied.

  • We Propose the Suity Cryptography File System to encrypt or decrypt a plaintext or an encrypted tort by using the dynamic linking mechanism In the Linux kernel. The dynamic linking mechanism gives the flexibility of the kernel without changing the kernel. The Sorority Cryptography File System uses the blowfish algorithm to encrypt or decrypt a data. To overcome the overhead of the key server, I use key generating algorithm which is installed in the same Security Cryptography File System. The Security Cryptography file System is fitted into the Linux system.

  • In this paper, we ecamined the effect that MCM-L technique influencess on the design and fabrication of multichip memory modules in increasing the packing desity of memory capacity and maximizing its electrical characteristics. For that purpose, we examined the effective methods of reducing the area of module layout and the wiring length with the variation of chip allocation and the number of wiring layers. We fabricated a 256K${\times}$8bit SRAM module with eight 32K${\times}$8bit SRAM chips. The routing experiment showed that we could optimize the area of module layout and wiring length by placing chips in a row, arranging module I/O pads parallel to chip I/O pads, and equalizing the number of terminal sides of module I/O's to that of chip I/O's. The routing was optimized when we used three wire layers in case of one sided chip mounting or five wire layers in case of double sided chip mounting. The fabricated modules showed 18.9 cm/cm$^{2}$ in wiring density, 65 % in substrate occupancy efficiency, and module substrate and functionally tested to find out the module working perfectly.

A Study on the Software Standardization and Simulator Design for Efficient Reliability Test in Combat System

  • In this paper, we propose the standardization architecture and weapon-sensor simulator for efficient reliability test in combat system. To reduce man-month of reliability test, application with high dependency on other module is selected and apply FORM. The proposed standardization architecture extracts common, variable elements and design patterns, S.O.L.I.D principles were applied. The proposed weapon-sensor simulator implements essential functions by identifying highly dependent element of other modules and the information from equipment can be directly received without processing by using communication middleware. As a result, it can replace actual ship-mounted equipment. In addition, it is possible to reduce the consumption rate of human resources when perform reliability test and modification time can be shorted.

  • Communication between system modules is applied using the Modbus protocol in industrial sites including smart factories, industrial drones, building energy management systems, PLCs, ships, trains, and airplanes. The existing Modbus was used for serial communication, but the recent Modbus protocol is used for TCP/IP communication.The Modbus protocol supports RTU, TCP and ASCII, and implements and uses protocols in embedded systems. However, the transmission I/O devices for RTU, TCP, and ASCII-based protocols may differ. For example, RTU and ASCII communications transmit on a serial-based communication protocol, but in some cases, Ethernet TCP/IP transmission is required. In particular, since the C language (object-oriented) is used in embedded systems, the complexity of source code related to I/O registers increases. In this study, we designed software that can logically separate I/O functions from embedded devices, and designed the execution logic of each instance requiring I/O processing through a delegate class instance with Modbus RTU, TCP, and ASCII protocol generation. We designed and experimented with software that can separate communication I/O processing and logical execution logic for each instance.
