  • Recently, several vector hysteresis models such as vector Preisach, vector Jiles-Atherton and dynamic E&S model have been proposed to describe vector magnetic properties of electrical steel sheets. However, it is still difficult to find an adequate vector hysteresis model in finite element application for both the Non-oriented and Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets under alternating and rotating field conditions. In this paper, an improved E&S vector hysteresis model is suggested to describe the vector magnetic properties of both Non-oriented and Grain-oriented electrical steel sheets under various magnetic field conditions including alternating and rotating magnetic field conditions. The validity of the proposed model is tested through comparisons with the experimental results under various magnetic field conditions.

  • A Piezoelectric actuator yields hysteresis effect due to its composed ferroelectric. Hysteresis nonlinearity is neglected when a piezoelectric actuator moves with short stroke. However when it moves with long stroke and high frequency, the hysteresis nonlinearity can not be neglected. The hysteresis nonlinearity of piezoelectric actuator degrades the control performance in precision position control. In this paper, in order to improve the control performance of piezoelectric actuator, an inverse modeling scheme is proposed to compensate the hysteresis nonlinearity problem. And feedforward-feedforward-feedback controller is proposed to give a good tracking performance. The Feedforward controller is inverse hysteresis model, and PID control is sued as a feedback controller. To show the feasibility of the proposed controller and hysteresis modeling, some experiments have been carried out. It is concluded hat the proposed control scheme gives good tracking performance.

  • Hysteresis motor is a synchronous machine which has simple structure and self-start characteristic but also has serious difficulties in numerical analysis. In this study, a finite element analysis for hysteresis motor considering the hysteresis characteristics is presented. The hysteresis model is the magnetization-dependent Preisach model which explains hysteresis phenomena very well. From this, we estimate the instantaneous torque, average torque and hysteresis loss of the rotor, considering slot and winding distribution.

  • A simulation model for radial magnetic bearings is presented. The model incorporates hysteresis, saturation and eddy current effects. A simple magnetization model that describes hysteresis and saturation is proposed. Eddy currents are taken into consideration by assuming that they are generated by single-turn fictitious coils wrapped around each magnetic flux path. The dynamic equations describing the simulation model can easily incorporate the operation of switching power amplifier. A simulation of a typical 8-pole radial magnetic bearing produces switching waveforms very similar to the experimental observation.

  • There has been a great demand for smart actuators in the field of micro-machines. However, the control accuracy of smart actuators, e.g., a shape memory alloy(SMA) and a piezoceramic actuator, is limited due to the inherent hysteresis nonlinearity. The Preisach hysteresis model has emerged as an appropriate model f3r the behavior of those smart actuators. Yet it is still not easy to construct a practical model of hysteresis using the classical Preisach model. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a new simple method for modeling of the hysteresis nonlinearity of SMA. Using only the proportional relation of the major loop of hysteresis, the proposed method makes the computation of the Preisach model easy. We prove the efficacy of the proposed model through the comparative the experimentation with the classical Preisach model.

  • Previous dynamic models of hysteresis motor use an extended induction machine equivalent circuit or somewhat different equivalent circuit with conventional one, which makes unsatisfiable results. In this paper, the hysteresis dynamic characteristics of the motor rotor are analyzed using the inverse Preisach model and the hysteresis motor equivalent circuit considering eddy current effect. The hysteresis loop for the rotor ring is analyzed under full-load voltage source static state. The calculated hysteresis loop is then approximated to an ellipse for simplicity of dynamic computation. The permeability and delay angle of the elliptic loop apply to the dynamic analysis model. As a result, it is possible to dynamically analyze the hysteresis motor according to the applied voltage and the rotor material. With this method, the motor speed, generated torque, load angle, rotor current as well as synchronous entry time, hunting effect can be calculated.

  • Piezoelectric actuators have been widely used in various applications because they have many advantages such as fast response time, repeatable nanometer motion, and high resolution. However Piezoelectric actuators have the strong hysteresis effect. The hysteresis effect can degrade the performance of the system using piezoelectric actuators. In past study, the parameters of the inverse hysteresis model are computed from the identified parameters using the Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii(GPI) model to cancel the hysteresis effect, however according to the identified parameters there exist the cases that can't form the inverse hysteresis loop. Thus in this paper the inverse hysteresis modeling mothod is proposed using the Inverse Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii(IGPI) model to handle that problem. The modeling results are verified by experimental results using various input signals.

  • This work proposes a new method for describing the hysteresis non-linearity of a piezoelectric actuator. The hysteresis behaviour of piezoelectric actuators, including the minor loop trajectory, are modeled by geometrical relationship between a reference major loop and its minor loops. This hysteresis model is transformed into inverse hysteresis model in order to output compensated voltage with regard to the given input displacement. A feedforward neural network, which is trained by a feedback PID control module, is incorporated to the inverse hysteresis model to compensate unknown dynamics of the piezoelectric system. To show the feasibility of the proposed feedforward-feedback controller, some experiments have been carried out and the tracking performance was compared to that of simple PTD controller.

  • This paper presents the temperature-dependent hysteresis identification of an electro-rheological (ER) fluid under various operating temperatures using the Preisach model. As a first step, polymethylaniline (PMA) particles are prepared and mixed with silicone oil to make an ER fluid. A couette type electroviscometer is then employed to obtain the field-dependent shear stress. In order to show the suitability of the Preisach model to predict a physical hysteresis phenomenon of the ER fluid, two significant properties; the minor loop property and the wiping-out property are experimentally examined under three dominant temperature conditions. Subsequently, the Preisach model fur the PMA-based ER fluid is identified using experimental first order descending (FOD) curves. The effectiveness of the identified hysteresis model is verified in the time domain by comparing the predicted field-dependent shear stress with the measured one under the both specified and unspecified temperatures. In addition, the hysteresis model proposed in this work is compared to Bingham model.
