A Study on the Variable Hysteresis Current Mode Control Method for Power Factor Improvement of the Single Phase Boost Converter (단상 부스터 콘버터의 입력역률 개선을 위한 가변 밴드폭 제어방식에 관한 연구)

  • Many new electronic products are required to have a near unity power factor and a distortion free current input waveform. In this paper, single phase AC to DC Boost-Converter which is controlled with continuous conduction mode(CCM) is analyzed. Each parameter is determined for variable hysteresis current mode and real time simulation results showed high power factor possible. l(kW] boost converter was designed and constructed accordingly. Experimental results to load and parameter variations are well similar to the simulation results.

  • This paper proposes a modified hysteresis current control method based on space vector modulation. The proposed method differs from former works in that it uses effective voltage vectors instead of zero vectors while not significantly increasing the circuit complexity. The circuit uses outer band that is slightly wider than the usual current limit band (inner band) to detect the phase of current command and thereby the region information. The comparator output signals associated with the inner and outer band are used to determine the proper voltage vector that minimizes the current error and number of switching, with simple logic circuitry. The utilization of effective voltage vector is of particular importance when the ac-side emf is relatively large. Both the simulation and experiment show that the proposed method is more effective than the conventional one that uses zero vectors, in reducing the number of switching over a range of ac-side emf variation.

  • The hysteresis control method has been frequently used for current control of power conversion equipments or motor drive systems. This method makes the measured signal follow the reference signal by changing the control signal whenever the error signal exceeds the preset band width. In this paper, hysteresis control method with fast response characteristics is applied for active noise control to suppress acoustic noise. Both Pentium processor and sound blaster 16 are used for experimental implementation, which executes A/D, D/A conversion and also is used as operating source of loudspeaker for audible noise cancellation.

  • This paper presents an implementation of position control system of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using digital hysteresis controller. Although SRM possess several advantages including simple structure and high efficiency, the control drive system using power semiconductor device is required to drive this motor. The control drive system increases overall system cost. To overcome this problem and increase the application of SRM, it is needed to develope the servo drive system of SRM. So, the position control system of 1 Hp SRM is developed and evaluated by adaptive switching angle control. The position/speed response characteristics and voltage/current waveforms are presented to prove the capability of SRM for a servo drive application. Moreover, digital hysteresis current controller is developed and evaluated by experimental testing for the purpose of system developmental cost reduction.

  • This paper proposes a new current control strategy for current regulated VSI-PWM lnverter. The conventional hysteresis control method has good dynamic response, but the switching frequency in lower region are high because it does not optimise switching patterns. Proposed current control strategy can optimize switching patterns. As regulater, three level comparator are used, the output of comparator select appropriate inverter output voltage vectors via switching table stored in EPROM. The simulation and experimental results in comparison to conventional hysteresis strategy are presented and discussed.

  • The back e.m.f. of PMSM is increased as the speed is increased and it saturates the current regulator because it counteracts the available output voltage of the inverter. In the PM motor, however, the required armature terminal voltage can be reduced within the maximum output voltage of the inverter by field weakening control, in which the air gap flux is weakened by the d-axis armature current. In this paper, the field weakening control of the surface PMSM fed by a hysteresis current control led PWM inverter based on the microprocessor is presented. To show the validity of the proposed control method, the simulation and experimental results are provided.

  • In this paper, the nature of iron loss in electrical steel during alternating field excitation is investigated more precisely. The exact definition of AC iron loss is cleared by accurately measuring the iron loss for conditions of both the sinusoidal magnetic field and sinusoidal magnetic flux density. The results of this approach to iron loss calculations in electrical steel are compared to experimentally-measured losses. In addition, an inverse hysteresis model considering eddy current loss was developed to analyze the iron loss when the input is the voltage source. With this model, the inrush current in the inductor or transformer as well as the iron loss can be calculated.

  • Direct torque control(DTC) of AC motor has the fast torque and flux dynamic responses even though it has very simple scheme to implement. DTC is also very simple in its implementation because it needs only two hysteresis comparators and switching vector table for both flux and torque control. The amplitude of hysteresis band greatly influences on the drive performance such as flux and torque ripple, switching frequency and current harmonics. Therefore, authors analysis flux and torque hysteresis bands is suggested considering switching frequency and harmonic distortion of currents.

  • This paper proposes a servo control system of brushless motor at a low and high speed range. The control system is composed of the PI controller for high-speed control and the modified PI controller for low-speed control and the current controller using the hysteresis current control PWM method. The speed control performance is shown by the computer simulation.
