Hypermedia system supports associative linking concept for multimedia information using link and node concept, and overcomes the limitations of database system and text retrieval system in some application areas. This study shows the design and implementation of a hypermedia system which supports text, graphics, image and voice /sound information. This system has been designed to integrate the browsing and searching functions of the hypermedia system for efficient multimedia information retrieval and user-interface. To demonstrate the function and capability of the system, an application was made in the area of Bible and related information.

Recently, many organizations have attempted to construct hypermedia systems to expand their working areas to Internet-based virtual work places. For the effective management of the hypermedia application, it is important to develop a technique for managing hypermedia documents, hyperdocuments. This paper employs metadata as it has been conceived as a key approach in document management. Hence, this paper proposes a meta-information system based on metadata, HyDoMIS, for the purpose of hyperdocument manage-ment. This system contains a repository for hyper-documents, which is based on metadata schema and classification. HyDoMIS performs functions such as metadata management, searching and reporting.

Although the concern on hypermedia learning environment is increased among educators, disorientation in hypermedia learning space becomes a critical issue for an efficient navigation and learning. In order to overcome the obstacle, the comprehensive approaches such as learner's control, metacognitive support, structuring hypermedia contents, and efficient interface design were addressed.

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a multimedia information system integrating hypermdia, information retrieval, and DBMS technologies. We browse the information space through hypermedia link navigation and also use ad hoc queries for direct retrieval of information from the database. Both the hypermedia and the information retrieval systems are integrated into a database management system (DMBS) so that concurrent edition, update, and retrieval of documents can have the ACID properties of atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability. We will first explain the architecture of the system and then, describe how the hypermedia system is integrated with information retrieval capability, and finally integrated with DBMS capabilities.

HALS(Hypermedia-Aided Learning System) is very useful computer networking educational system in high information society, and was developed by Kyungwon University. This system has three characteristics; 1) face to face learning, 2) ultra high speed information networing, 3) web based hypermedia courseware. So, the purpose of this study is to try the application to pre-parent eucational program(session 4 : becoming parents through the experience of pregnancy and childbirth). For this purpose it is described the definition and characteristics of HALS. Next, it is represented the model of pre-parent educational program applied to HALS and the pictures of the session 4 (initial window, help function window, etc).

In this paper I will discuss definitions of hypermedia, multimedia and hypertext. Hypertext is the grouping of relevant information in the form of nodes. These nodes are then connected together through links. In the case of hypertext the nodes contain text or graphics. Multimedia is the combining of different media types for example sound, animation, text, graphics and video for the presentation of information by making use of computers. Hypermedia can be viewed as an extension of hypertext and multimedia. It is based on the concept of hypertext that uses nodes and links in the structuring of information in the system. In this case the nodes consist of an the different data types that are mentioned in the multimedia definition above. The 'node-and-link' concept is used in organisation of the information in hypermedia systems. The 'book' metaphor is an example of the way these systems are implemented. This concept is explained and a few advantages and disadvantages of making use of hypermedia systems are discussed. A new approach for the development of hypermedia systems, namely the knowledge-based approach is now looked into. Joel Peing-Ling Loo proposed this approach because he thought that it is the most effective way for handling this kind of technology. A semantic-based hypermedia model is developed in this approach to formulate solutions for the restrictions in presenting information authoring, maintenance and retrieval. The knowledge-based presentation of information includes the use of conventional data structures. These data structures make use of frames(objects), slots and the inheritance theory that is also used in expert systems. Relations develop between the different objects as these objects are included in the database. Relations can also exist between frames by means of attributes that belong to the frames.

Hypermedia documents include structural information for their documents There have been researches on storing and searching hypermedia documents using the structural information of the documents. For the purpose of presenting hypermedia documents, however, only a few models have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a new object-oriented model based on the structural information of HyTime documents for storing and also presenting efficiently the documents. For this modeling, we consider an application of HyTime, a system for a news-on-demand service that provides news customized by user requests. Our modeling can be applied to several Hypermedia application areas, like as customized web-based instructions and digital libraries as well as news-on-demand services.

In this paper, we propose a time relation model among media with the concept of time and space under hypermedia environments. The model explains time relations of node proceedings among media by time and proceedings among media connected with link. Using this model, hypermedia system which constructs dynamic nodes with time proceeding is designed and implemented. And this hypermedia system provides editing tool and controllers to edit dynamic node information, link tool to construct associative relations among nodes and navigaton tool to do node movement freely, various time controls and node proceedings.

Intranet emerges as a key technology for building enterprise information system. This paper proposes a scenario-based object- oriented technique for designing intranet hypermedia information systems. The method consists of six phases such as domain analysis, object modeling, view design, navigational design, implementation design and construction. Users requirements are analyzed in the form of scenarios by the use fo a responsibility-driven object technology. Object-oriented views are generated from the resulting object model and then used for the subsequent navigational and implementation design. Implementation design phase deals integrating enterprise databases with distributed hypermedia systems by employing Java language. To demonstrate its usefulness, a real-life bank case is illustrated.

Recently many organizations have attempted to build hypermedia systems to expand their working areas to internet-based virtual work places. It is thus important to manage corporate hypermedia documents effectively. Metadata play a critical role for managing these documents. This paper identifies metadata roles and components to build its schema. Furthermore a meta-information system HyDoMiS(Hyperdocument Meta-information System) is proposed by the use of this metadata schema. HyDoMiS performs three functions metadata management search and reporting The metadata management function is concerned with workflow document and database. The system is more likely to help implement and maintsain hypermedia information system effectively.
