  • Objectives: Although dental hygienists are professional workers, their job retention is short. Therefore, in order to improve job retention, the relationship between professional identity and professional self-concept was analyzed. Methods: From January 1 to April 30, 2020, 155 dental hygienists were examined. For data analysis, multiple regression analysis was conducted to confirm the effects of professional identity and professional self-concept on job retention. Results: The dental hygienist's professional self-concept was significantly higher in the team manager than in the staff, but the professional identity was not significantly different. Dental hygienists' professional identity, professional self-concept, and job retention were all positively correlated (p<0.05). As a factor influencing dental hygienist's job retention, the self-concept of the profession had a significant effect, but the identity of the profession did not. Conclusions: Since the professional self-concept has a positive effect on maintaining the profession of dental hygienists, it is necessary to make efforts to improve the professional self-concept in order to increase the job retention.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the children's knowledge, attitudes and practices of food safety. A total of 355 data were collected from elementary school students. The concern of food safety was moderate in 5 point Likert scale and relatively high correlated with food safety knowledge(r=0.571) and education(r=0.534). The experience and knowledge of terminology on food safety were estimated. The level of food safety was classified into 5 groups and the consideration of food purchase was classified into 3 groups by factor analysis. A few children were aware of the food safety knowledge and could hardly understood English terminology. And the food safety practices were surveyed, and most of children checked with expiration dates and packaging conditions of food. Personal hygiene practice of children was significantly affected by gender, self hygiene evaluation and the knowledge level of food safety. Providing more food safety information affects personal hygiene and the practices of food purchase, so educational programs on food safety for children were required.

Cronbach's alpha was o.691 in functional satisfaction and 0.716 in psychological and aesthetic satisfaction. Except 18 incomplete answers, 302 data were analyzed. Results: The functional satisfaction mean was $3.70{\pm}0.51$ and that of psychological aesthetic satisfaction was $3.60{\pm}0.48$. Monthly income was the most important influencing factor on full and partial prosthesis use. Conclusions: In order to improve the satisfaction level in dental prosthetic treatment, the insurance coverage for the dental prosthetic treatment is necessary. The palliative supportive measure for the prosthesis is also required.

Methods : The structured self-administered questionnaires were distributed to dental hygienists, dental assistants and other employees (including administrative staff and dental coordinators, but excluding dentists) working at a dental hospital and at dental clinics in the Busan and Gyeongnam area. This study used SPSS Windows version 18.0 program (Chicago, IL, USA) to perform frequency factor, reliability, correlation, and hierarchical regression analyses were performed using SPSS. Results : First, emotional labor had a positive effect on the intention to leave. Two components of the internal marketing, communication and employee welfare system, had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between employees' emotional labor and their intention to leave, while the education/training component of the internal marketing showed no moderating effect. Conclusion : Enhancement of communication and the employee welfare system will help dental care organizations reduce their employees' emotional labor and hence employees' turnover.

Results: When the subjects had experiences of oral treatment within the past year, which indicated lower quality of life in relation to oral health. Oral health knowledge had a positive correlation with oral health attitude (0.241) and oral health behaviors (0.362), had a negative correlation with oral health impact profile (-0.283). Oral health attitude showed a positive correlation with oral health behaviors (0.476) (p<0.001). Conclusions: By conducting a oral health promotion business among metabolic syndrome patients including a oral care and treatment program which aim to enhance the oral knowledge, attitude and behaviors and comprehensively manage the oral health education program, it is expected that their quality of life related to oral health could be further improved.

The study also promotes the utilization of job embeddedness for efficient human management in dental organizations. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 200 dental hygienists from June 1 to July 15, 2019. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0. An independent t-test, a one-way ANOVA, Scheffe post-hoc test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were employed, and a multiple regression analysis was conducted. Results: The dental hygienists scored 3.25 points for job embeddedness, 3.81 points for organizational citizenship behavior, and 3.40 points for turnover intention. The variables that influenced their turnover intention were those related to job embeddedness. These factors showed 24.6% variance among the dental hygienists. Conclusions: Efficient human management of clinical dental hygienists requires increased interaction and compatibility within dental organizations. It is also necessary to create a variety of benefits and support systems.

Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's post-hoc test, and Pearson correlation coefficient were reviewed, and a multiple regression analysis was conducted. Results: Dental hygienists scored 3.14 points in job embeddedness. The variables that influenced clinical job embeddedness were self-efficacy, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. These factors had 56.7% of variance in dental clinic hygienists. Conclusions: Job satisfaction was the most affected factor for dental clinic hygienists. In order to maintain effective personnel management of dental hygienists, strategic program development and application are needed to improve job embeddedness.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to confirm the relationship between role conflict, positive psychological capital, and the psychological well-being of dental hygienists and to provide data for improving professionalism by increasing the psychological well-being of dental hygienists. Methods: From May 21 to June 22, 2023, 190 data were collected through an online community of dental hygienists. The collected data were analyzed IBM SPSS program ver. 23.0 and AMOS ver. 26.0. Statistical analysis methods, convergent validity test, structural equation model analysis, and model fit were performed using independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, confirmatory factor analysis, structural model fit test, and path analysis. Results: The lower the role conflict of dental hygienists and the higher the positive psychological capital, the higher the psychological well-being. The lower the role conflict, the higher the positive psychological capital. However, there was no mediating effect between positive psychological capital and role conflict, as it was not statistically significant. Analysis of the total effect of role conflict and positive psychological capital on psychological well-being revealed that positive psychological capital had a greater influence on psychological well-being than role conflict. Conclusions: Psychological well-being was related to positive psychological capital and role conflict. Future efforts are needed to improve positive psychological capital and psychological well-being of dental hygienists and reduce role conflict.

  • Objectives: Skin exposure to diisocyanates may be an important risk factor for respiratory sensitization to leading asthma. However little is known about the extent of worker's diisocyanates skin exposure and the effectiveness of personal protective equipments in polyurethane foam manufacturing companies. This study provides data on diisocyanates skin exposure, surface diisiocyantes contamination of foams and the effectiveness of personal protective gloves in five polyurethane foam manufacturing companies. Materials and methods Colorimetric SWYPE pads are used for the determination of diisocyanates on surfaces of workers skin and polyurethanes foams. Results: The forearms, necks and faces of workers in polyurethane foam manufacturing companies were found to be contaminated with diisocyanates. Heavy contamination with uncured diisocyanates at large block foams surfaces were found. Personal gloves of workers for skin protection showed significant penetrations by diisocyanates. Conclusions: We found that all workers in polyurethane foam manufacturing companies could be exposed to diisocyanates by skin exposure. Also further researches which would better quantify skin exposure are needed.
