The Application of Real Time Digital Simulator for Analyzing the Performance of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) (전력계통 안정화장치(PSS)의 성능 분석을 위한 실시간 디지털 시뮬레이터 응용)

  • The performance of a commercialized power system stabilizer (PWX-600) for a single hydro-turbine generator and infinite bus system has been investigated using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) in this paper. The test system was composed of RTDS, three phase voltage/current amplifier and the PSS. The test scheme provided a very efficient way to verify the design and control performance of a PSS to be applied to real power system. The scheme can also be applied to verify in real time the performance of hardware and software of power system controllers for FACTS and protective relays effectively.

  • 분산형 전원이 전력계통에 연계됨에 따라 역조류, 보호협조, 계통 동기화, 전기품질 문제 등 여러 가지 문제를 야기한다. 이에 따라 전력회사에서는 분산형 전원의 계통연계 기술 기준을 제시하고 해당 분산형 전원의 계통 연계에 대한 기술 검토를 수행한다. 본 논문에서는 동기발전기형 2500KVA 소수력발전기 2대의 배전계통 연계에 대한 기술적 검토를 수행하였으며 해당 분산형 전인이 동기발전기임을 고려하여 계통연계시 상시전압변동 및 보호방식에 대해 집중 분석하였다. 먼저 소수력발전기가 연계되는 지점에서의 기존 선로 및 전력설비의 여건과 소수력발전기의 출력용량 및 역률을 고려하여 연계 지점에서의 전압변동을 검토하여 적절한 연계방식을 제시한다. 그리고 시간대별 소수력발전기의 발전량과 해당 배전선로의 부하량을 고려하여 기 설치된 보호계전기에 의한 단독운전 검출 능력을 검토하고자 한다.

  • Our company(KOWACO) has periodically performed off-line diagnostic test for 14 hydro generators (rated 11 kV over) for 15 years. In this paper, we summarized results of dissipation factor tip-up test and partial discharge test about these generators. Among these, we chose two generators and performed insulation reinforcement (cleaning and varnish Painting). We compared change of insulation condition for the stator winding based upon off-line diagnostic test result before and after repair. Test result shows that insulation condition was improved after insulation reinforcement. This insulation reinforcement has a function to reduce cause of deterioration, so we can know that it extends lifetime of generator and it is a very important factor for stable operation of facilities.

  • Renewable energy resources will be an increasingly important part of power generation in the new millennium. Besides assisting in the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases, they add the much needed flexibility to the energy resource mix by decreasing the dependence on fossil fuels. Due to their modular characteristics, ease of installation and because they can be located closer to the user, PV system have great potential as distributed power source to the utilities. In this paper, a dc-de power converter scheme with the push-pull based technology is proposed to apply for solar power system which has many features such as high efficiency, stable output, and low acoustic noises, DC-DC converter is used in proposed topology has stable efficiency curve at all load range and very high efficiency characteristics. This paper presents the design of a single-phase photovoltaic inverter model and the simulation of its performance.

  • Before a developed digital Power System Stabilizer(PSS) is installed to real power system, an efficient trial test for installing PSS is needed. In this paper, the performance of developed digital PSS for a single hydro-turbine generator and infinite bus system has been investigated using Real Time Digital Simulator(RTDS) in order to install PSS to real power system practically. The test system was composed of RTDS, three phase voltage/current amplifier and the PSS and the test scheme provided a very efficient way to verify the design and control performance of a PSS to be applied to real power system. The trial installation test through AVR 3% step test and three fault analysis may be guaranteed to install PSS to real power system.

  • The new approach using fuzzy linear programming with fuzzy multi-criterion is proposed for the best generation mix of a power system. A chracteristic feature of the presented approach is that not only cost but also reliability for goal function can be taken into account by using fuzzy multi-criterion and so more realistic solution can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by the best generation mix problem of KEPCO-system size model which contains nuclear, coal, LNG, oil and pump-generator hydro plant in multi-years.

  • As EG(Embedded Generation : photo-voltaic, wind, combined heat and power, fuel cell, small hydro etc.) grows fast in adopting to peak load reducing at the middle or the end of distribution system, there much has been interested in interconnection of EG. This paper discusses the various issue of a embedded generator to power system and shows the simulation of its various situation that could happen (focusing on load-flow by EG) by using a commercial software CYME(PSAF) for load-flow. With a result of above simulation, this paper shows a way of possible solution briefly.

  • This test was performed to assess the insulation deterioration condition of the stator winding of Chung-Ju hydrogenerator #4 and Dae-Cheong hydrogenerator #2 which had been in service after being constructed 1980. The insulation diagnostic tests include resistance polarization index(P.I.) AC current, dissipation factor(Tan ${\delta}$) and partial discharges ($Q_{max}$). The results of diagnostic tests were compared to factory test measurements.

  • NREL NWTC Deside codes are analyzed and introduced to develop the system performance simulation program for wind turbine generator systems. In this paper, The AirfoilPrep generating the airfoil data, the IECWind generating hub-height wind data with extreme condition following IEC 61400-1, the TurbSim generating stochastic full-field turbulent wind data, the PreComp calculating structural and dynamic properties of composite blade and the BModes making mode shapes of blade and tower are explained respectively.

A Technique for Removing Adjacent Induction Noise Mixed with Partial Discharge Signals of High Voltage Rotating Machines (고압 회전기 부분방전 신호에 혼합된 인접상 유도 잡음 제거 기법)

  • Analysis of the partial discharge signal, a technique to diagnose the stator winding insulation is a key function for the diagnosis of high voltage rotating machines and requires high precision. To satisfy this requirement, various denoising techniques such as filtering and differential methods were proposed. However, these techniques can not eliminate a adjacent induction noise that decreases reliability of the diagnosis. A simple novel denoising algorithm, therefore, is proposed for removing the adjacent induction noise in this paper. The algorithm shows good performance in the real partial discharge signals measured by 13kV class capacitive couplers installed at hydro-generator in Dae-cheong Dam.
