This paper deals with tipping over of hydraulic excavator's crane work. If the excavator lifts too heavy weight, the excavator will be tipped up. This is account for 38% of whole excavator accidents. In this paper, tipping-over load which is maximum load of excavator can lift with displacement of excavator links, real load and tipping-over rate are computed with Zero Moment Point theory. ZMP is verified with simulation and experiment.

Since a tower crane is too high for a worker to ascend and by the wind in the high altitude, the possibility of a safety accident is very high, a lift assist is used. In this study, the hydraulic fall prevention device using the pressure generation device by Seok, et al. was developed. For this, the effects on the fall prevention performances of factors such as gear clearance, oil viscosity, rotative velocity and so on were evaluated by the analysis of fluid flow using FEM and the prototype was producted and a function test was performed.
In order to analyze sediment transport characteristics of knickpoint migration, sediment transport length, and sediment transport weight through the under-flow type vertical lift gate, the hydraulic model experiment and dimensional analysis were performed. The correlations between Froude number and sediment transport characteristics were schematized. The multiple regression formulae for sediment transport characteristics with non-dimensional parameters were suggested. The determination coefficients of multiple regression equations appeared high as 0.618 for knickpoint migration, 0.632 for sediment transport length, and 0.866 for sediment transport weight. In order to evaluate the applicability of the developed hydraulic characteristic equations, 95% prediction interval analysis was conducted on the measured and the calculated by multiple regression equations, and it was determined that NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency), RMSE (root mean square), and MAPE (mean absolute percentage error) are appropriate, for the accuracy analysis related to the prediction on sediment transport characteristics of kickpoint migration, sediment transport length and weight.
Vortex-induced vibrations of a yawed flexible cylinder near a plane boundary are numerically investigated at a Reynolds number Ren= 500 based on normal component of freestream velocity. Free to oscillate in the in-line and cross-flow directions, the cylinder with an aspect ratio of 25 is pinned-pinned at both ends at a fixed wall-cylinder gap ratio G/D = 0.8, where D is the cylinder diameter. The cylinder yaw angle (α) is varied from 0° to 60° with an increment of 15°. The main focus is given on the influence of α on structural vibrations, flow patterns, hydrodynamic forces, and IP (Independence Principle) validity. The vortex shedding pattern, contingent on α, is parallel at α=0°, negatively-yawed at α ≤ 15° and positively-yawed at α ≥ 30°. In the negatively- and positively-yawed vortex shedding patterns, the inclination direction of the spanwise vortex rows is in the opposite and same directions of α, respectively. Both in-line and cross-flow vibration amplitudes are symmetric to the midspan, regardless of α. The RMS lift coefficient CL,rms exhibits asymmetry along the span when α ≠ 0°, maximum CL,rms occurring on the lower and upper halves of the cylinder for negatively- and positively-yawed vortex shedding patterns, respectively. The IP is well followed in predicting the vibration amplitudes and drag forces for α ≤ 45° while invalid in predicting lift forces for α ≥ 30°. The vortex-shedding frequency and the vibration frequency are well predicted for α = 0° - 60° examined.
Mobile hydraulics require higher energy efficiency, and a simpler as well as robust design, than general industrial hydraulics. The 6/3-way directional control valve is widely used as a mobile hydraulic control valve. However, since the 6/3-way directional control valve is a spool type valve, it is difficult to maintain the load. A counterbalance valve is typically used, to maintain the load, and lift down. However, in an industrial field using a mobile hydraulics device, a pilot controlled check valve may be used to implement holding and lifting operation of the self-weight load, and a relief valve may be used simply to exert back pressure. But no comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of each method was revealed. In this study, various methods of holding and unloading load with self-weight in mobile hydraulics are investigated, and compared through simulation using AMESim software. This is experimentally verified by using Festo's mobile hydraulic test rig TP800.

Jet pump is one type of artificial lifts and is used when depth and deviation of producing wells increases and pressure depletion occurs. In the present study, numerical analysis has been carried out to analyze the flow behavior and find the performance of the jet pump. Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes equations were solved and k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used for simulations. Water and light oil as primary fluids were used to pump water, light oil and heavy oil. The ratios of area and length to diameter of the mixing tube were considered as design parameters. The pump efficiency was considered to maximize for the downhole conditions. It was found that the increase in viscosity and density of the secondary fluid reduced efficiency of the system. Water as primary fluid produced better efficiency than the light oil. It was also found that the longer throat length increased efficiency upto 40% if light oil was used as primary fluid and secondary fluid viscosity was 350 cSt.
In this paper, an algorithm is proposed for the automatic movement of the platform on a ladder lift which operates by using hydraulic force. Experimental data of the manual movement operated by experts are acquired and analyzed. The length of movement of the platform is estimated by the number of pulses from an encoder while the platform is moving. The operating characteristics have been extracted from the data. The number of pulses varies whenever the weight of load varies. We propose a model to compensate the difference of the number of pulses. An automatic movement algorithm based on the model is proposed. The platform can start and stop smoothly at the starting point and the destination point. Experimental results show that the error distance at the destination point is less than 5 cm when the length of the ladder is 23 m.

The Ν-value in the standard penetration test(SPT) is affected by the magnitude of the rod penetration energy transmitted from the falling hammer as well as the geotechnical characteristics of the ground. Understanding of the striking energy efficiency in the SPT equipment is getting important for that reason. The energy efficiencies of the doughnut hammer with the hydraulic lift system and the automatic trip hammer system were investigated through field tests using the instrumented rod and wave-signal acquisition systems including the pile driving analyzer(PDA) . The rod energy ratio, ΕR$\_$r/ was defined as the ratio of the energy delivered to the drilling rod to the potential free-fall energy of the hammer. It appears that the type of the hammer and lift/drop system had a strong influence on the energy transfer mechanism and ΕR$\_$r/ also varies according to the energy instrumentation system and the analysis methods.

Dynamic behavior of Libr-water absorption system using low-temperature hot water was investigated numerically. Thermal-hydraulic model of single-effect/double-lift 100 RT chiller was developed by applying transient conservation equations of total mass, Libr mass, energy and momentum to each component. Transient variations of system properties and transport variables were analysed during start-up operation. Numerical analysis were performed to quantify the effects of bulk concentration and part-load operation on the system performance in terms of cooling capacity, coefficient of performance, and time constant of system. For an absorption chiller considered in the present study, optimum bulk concentration was found to exist, which resulted in the minimum time constant with stable cooling capacity. COP and time constant increased as the load decreased down to 40%, below which the time constant increased abruptly and COP decreased as the load decreased further.
A dynamic time-history analysis of the coupled internals and core in the vertical direction is performed as a part of the fuel assembly qualification program. To reflect the interaction between the fuel rods and grid cage, friction element is developed and is implemented. Also derived here is a method to calculate a hydraulic force on the reactor internals due to pipe break. Peak responses are obtained for the excitations induced from earthquake and pipe break. The dynamic responses such as fuel assembly axial forces and lift-off characteristics are investigated.
