  • A hybrid control method based on using the relative motion between a manipulator and a workpiece is described for a two-dimensional manipulator, in which it is assumed that there are no collisions between the robot manipulator and the workpiece, and that we use a computed force law which is similar to the computed torque law in the trajectory tracking problem of a robot manipulator. The effectiveness of the proposed hybrid control emthod is illustratec by some simulations.

  • Various robots were developed for harvesting fruits and vegetables. However, each robot was designed for a specific task such as harvesting apples or vegetables. This has been a big hurdle in application of robots to agriculture. A new type of hybrid manipulator with both parallel and serial joints was developed and designed to apply to various kinds of field operations. The hybrid manipulator had 2 extra degree of freedom in serial joints which made it flexible in switching one to the other type of hybrid manipulator, for example, PUMA to SCARA. And it was designed to harvest heavy fruits such as musky melons or water melons even behind leaves or branches of tree. This hybrid manipulator showed less than $\pm1mm$ position error. It was concluded that the hybrid manipulator was an effective and feasible tool to perform various works and to increase working performance.

  • Position control for robot manipulator may not suffice when any contacts are made between the end-effector and various environments. Therefore interaction forces must be controlled in tasks performed by robot manipulator. In general, there are two types of force control for robot manipulator. One is a stiffness control and the other is a hybrid position/force control. Stiffness control is that environment can be modeled as a spring and utilizes the desired normal force to determine the desired normal position. Hybrid position/force control, however, can be used for robot manipulator to track position and force trajectories simultaneously. This paper will compare the result of the hybrid position/force control method with that of the stiffness control method.

  • In this work, a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. And a 6 DOF hybrid manipulator which consists of a 3-PPR type planar 3 DOF parallel mechanism and a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. Both 3 DOF mechanism modules have closed-form forward position solutions and particularly, 3-PSP spatial module has unique forward position solution. Firstly, the closed-form position analysis and first-order kinematic analysis for the proposed 3-PSP type module are carried out, and the first-order kinematic characteristics are examined via maximum singular value and the isotropic index of the mechanism. It is shown through these analyses that the mechanism has excellent isotrpic property throughout the workspace. Secondly, position and kinematic analysis of the 3-PPR planar module are briefly described. Thirdly, the forward position analysis for the 3-PPR 3-PSP type 6 degree-of-freedom hybrid mechanism consisting of a 3-PPR planar module and a 3-PSP spatial module is performed along with the analysis of the workspace size and first-order kinematic characteristics. The kinematic characteristics of the proposed hybrid manipulator are compared to those of geometrically similar Stewart manipulator.

  • In this paper ,ie propose a hybrid position/force controller of a robot manipulator using double-layer neural network. Each layer is constructed from inverse dynamics and Jacobian transpose matrix, respectively. The weighting value of each neuron is trained by using a feedback force as an error signal. If the neural networks are sufficiently trained it does not require the feedback-loop with error signals. The effectiveness of the proposed hybrid position/force controller is demonstrated by computer simulation using a PUMA 560 manipulator.

  • In this paper we propose a hybrid position/force controller of a robot manipulator using feedback error learning rule and neural networks. The neural network is constructed from inverse dynamics. The weighting value of each neuron is trained by using a feedback force as an error signal. If the neural networks are sufficiently trained well, it does not require the feedback-loop with error signals. • In this paper, we proposed coordinator description and ambiguity on the hybrid controller for position/force control of robot manipulator. When the hybrid controller is desiged based on the PID control conception, the parameter sharing problem must be considered. However, selection problem of coordinate system on n-DOF robot manipulator control is unsolved. Moreover, contact force on object and change of shape make another problems. And it is very difficult to figure out the accurate mathematical model of manipulator on account of ambiguity and nonlinearity of actuator. Therfore, we design a new hybrid controller, FPID(Fuzzy PID). For verifying the validity of the controller, we tried computer simulation of this system. As a result, we can get remarkable improvement of overdamping and overshooting. Also we can solve compicance problem effectively. Furthermore, ambiguity problem is solved by adding control knowledge based compensator. So robust controller can be acheived, too.

  • A multi d.o.f robotic manipulator is considered for multi-axis vibration control of a slender structure, using the concept of the flow source based vibration control. In order not to cause the motion saturation of the manipulator system, a hybrid dynamics associated with the flexible and desired manipulator error dynamics is also modeled as the control object. It is numerically shown that the flexible vibrations and the base motions of a test structure can be effectively controlled with the proposed hybrid dynamics.
