This paper describes a hybrid multi-output three-level DC/DC converter suitable for a wide, high-input voltage range of an auxiliary power supply for a high-power photovoltaic generating system. In a high-power photovoltaic generating system, the solar panel output voltage depends on solar radiation quantity and varies from 450Vdc to 1100Vdc. The proposed hybrid multi-output three-level DC/DC converter, which is an auxiliary power supply, would be used as power source for control printed circuit boards and relay and cooling fans in a high-power photovoltaic generating system. The proposed multi-output ($24V_{DC}/30A$, $230V_{DC}/5A$) hybrid three-level boost converter, which uses an energy recovery snubber, is controlled by variable-frequency and phase-shifted modulations and can achieve zero-voltage switching with all operating conditions of input voltage and load range. Experimental results of a 2kW prototype are evaluated and implemented to verify the performance of the proposed converter.
Virtual power plants can be regarded as systems that have entered the network after restructure of power systems. In fact, these plants are a set of consumers capable of consuming and generating power. In response to widespread implementation of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, further investigation of energy management in this type of power plants seems to be of great value. In effect, these vehicles are able to receive and inject power from/into the network. Hence, study of the effects of these vehicles on management of virtual power plants seems to be illuminative. In this paper, management of power consumption/generation in virtual power plants has been investigated in the presence of hybrid electric vehicles. The objective function of virtual power plants problem management is to minimize the overall costs including not only the costs of energy production in power generation units, fuels, and degradation of batteries of vehicles, but also the costs of purchasing electricity from the network. Furthermore, the constraints on the operational of plants, loads and hybrid vehicles, level of penalty for greenhouse gas emissions ($CO_2$ and $NO_x$) produced by power plants and vehicles, and demand response to the immediate price of market have all been attended to in the present study. GAMS/Cplex software system and sample power system have been employed to pursue computer implementation and simulation.

In this study, we present the modern hybrid system based power generation for electric vehicle applications. We describe the hybrid structure of modified current source based DC - DC converters used to extract the maximum power from Photovoltaic (PV) and Fuel Cell system. Due to reduced dc-link capacitor requirement and higher reliability, the current source inverters (CSI) better compared to the voltage source based inverter. The novel control strategy includes Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell power generation system. The proposed DC - DC converters have been analyzed in both buck and boost mode of operation under duty cycle 0.5>d, 0.5<d<1 and 0.5<d for capable electric vehicle applications. The proposed topology benefits include one common DC-AC inverter that interposes the generated power to supply the charge for the sharing of load in a system of hybrid supply with photovoltaic panels and fuel cell PEM. An improved control of Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) based induction motor fed by current source converters for electric vehicle. In order to achieve better performance in terms of speed, power and miles per gallon for the expert, to accepting high regenerative braking current as well as persistent high dynamics driving performance is required. A simulation model for the hybrid power generation system based electric vehicle has been developed by using MATLAB/Simulink. The Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) is planned using Xilinx ISE software tool in addition to a Modelsim 6.3 software tool that is used for simulation purposes. The FPGA based pulse generation is used to control the induction motor for electric vehicle applications. FPGA has been implemented, in order to verify the minimal error between the simulation results of MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.
A new low cost hybrid active filter for thyristor-controlled rectifier load is presented to overcome the high cost problem of the active or the other hybrid active filters. The proposed hybrid active filter which consists of tuned (5th and 7th harmonics) LC passive filters, power factor improvement(PFI) capacitor bank, and active filter compensates power factor as well as harmonic currents. Since most of harmonic currents are filtered by the passive filter and most of reactive power is compensated by the PFI capacitor bank, the power rating of active filter can be minimized, resulting in cost minimization of the proposed hybrid active filter. A 300kVA hybrid active filter system is implemented and tested using 1MVA thyristor rectifier load to verify the operation and performance.
Recently, the increased interest in environmental issues has led to extensive research for development of green energy generation systems. However, only one type of generation system may not be sufficient for stand-alone mode because it cannot cope with the irregularity of weather condition. A hybrid generation system is able to make up for the weakness of each system. In this paper, a stand-alone hybrid wind/PV system is developed that can guarantee the stable energy supply. The system is suitable for power supply under 50W, and a vertical savonius type of blade was designed and applied for the wind generation system.
In this paper, parallel input/serial output dual converter is designed appropriately for fuel cell hybrid power system. In case of proposed converter, zero voltage switching condition is designed without additional resonance device using leakage inductance of transformer and output capacitance of switch, and zero voltage switching method is used. Also, the system method is for increasing power by connecting half-bridge in parallel and increasing output voltage by connecting secondary output of transformer in serial. Through this method we can increase power and decrease volume of system. So in this paper, dual converter is designed. 1.5kW fuel cell hybrid power system was implemented, and system operation and stability was verified through experiment.
A Buoyant Hybrid Power Generation System (BHPGS) described in this paper, is a conceptual approach to a hybrid solar-wind power generation in the near sea. The primary purpose of the BHPGS is given to improve utilization of solar cell modules. Main components of the BHPGS include a solar cell module, buoyant object, power generator, and support assembly including weight. Components such a generator controller, DC/AC converter, etc., are not configured in the current BHPGS because they can easily be purchased as a commercial-off-the-shelf product. In addition, some of the BHPGS applications are discussed.
Active power filters can be cost-effective for use in practical systems with the insertion of a few passive elements in shunt or series configuration. The resulting hybrid filters can be designed to provide dominant lower order harmonic elimination and reactive power support by the passive elements so that the burden on the active filter counterpart is reduced. In this paper, the rate reduction in the shunt active filter is estimated when it is connected in parallel with suitable passive tuned harmonic filters. The active filtering system is based on an appropriate control scheme. The simulation and the experimental results of the shunt active filter, along with the estimated value of reduction in rating, show that the hybrid shunt filtering system is quite effective in compensating for the harmonics and reactive power, in addition to being cost-effective.

This study proposes a hybrid marine power system combining dual-fuel generators, a fuel cell, and Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB). Rigorous verification and validation of the dynamic modelling and integration of the system are conducted. A case study for the application of the hybrid propulsion system to a passenger ship is conducted to examine its time-variant behaviour. A comprehensive model of the reversible and irreversible capacity degradation of the VRFB stack unit is proposed and validated. The capacity retention of the VRFB stack is simulated by being integrated within the hybrid propulsion system. Reversible degradation of the VRFB stack is precisely predicted and rehabilitated based on the predefined operational schedule, while the irreversible portion is retained until the affected components are replaced. Consequently, the advantages of the VRFB system as an on-board ESS are demonstrated through the application of a hybrid propulsion system for liner shipping with fixed routes.
