  • In recent years, robot has been used widely in industrial field and has been expanded as a result of continous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization. The goal of this paper is to design the special serial manipulator through the understanding of the structure, mobility, and analysis of serial manipulator. Thereafter we control the position and orientation of end-effector with respect to time. In general, a structure of industrial robot consists of several links connected in series by various types of joints. Typically revolute and prismatic joints. The movement of these joints is determined in inverse kinematic analysis. Compared to the complicated structure of parallel and hybrid robot, open loop system retains the characteristic that each link is independent and is controlled easily by AC servomotor that is used to place the robot end-effector toward the accurate point with the desired speed and power while it is operated by position control algorithm. The robot end-effector should trace the given trajectory within the appropriate time. The trajectory of 3D end-effector model made by OpenGL can be displayed on the monitor program simultaneously

  • The nonlinear behavior and the high performance requirement are the main problems that appear in the design of manipulator robots and their controllers. For that reason, the simulation, real-time execution and comparison of the performance of controllers applied to a robot with three degrees of freedom are presented. Five controllers are prepared to test the robot's dynamic model: predictive; hyperbolic sine-cosine; sliding mode; hybrid composed of a predictive + hyperbolic sine-cosine controller; and adaptive controller. A redundant robot, a communication and signal conditioning interface, and a simulator are developed by means of the MatLab/Simulink software, which allows analyzing the dynamic performance of the robot and of the designed controllers. The manipulator robot is made to follow a test trajectory which, thanks to the proposed controllers, it can do. The results of the performance of this manipulator and of its controllers, for each of the three joints, are compared by means of RMS indices, considering joint errors according to the imposed trajectory and to the controller used.

  • This paper is concerned with the design of a robust digital controller using reduced-order observer on a robotic manipulator under the disturbance. In most cases of robotic manipulator since all state vectors are not measurable, the unmeasurable state vectors must be estimated or reconstructed. Other problems are caused by the nonlinear element like as nondifferentiable Coulomb friction, disturbance due to the gravitational pull, and the torsional spring effect of a link between the drive motor and the manipulator arm. The controller is based on feeding back the observable variables and the estimated state variables which are generated by the observer, and augmenting the system by additional discrete integrators. The feedback gain parameters are obtained by first applying the optimal control theory and then readjusting the feedback parameters to eliminate the limit cycle by using describing Function for nonlinear hybrid system.

  • In this paper, we propose hybrid control method of neural network using the 3-point search algorithm. Proposed control method is searched the weight using the 3-point search algorithm for off-line then control the on-line. In order to verify the usefulness of the proposed method, we simulated the proposed control method with one link manipulator system and confirmed the excellency.

  • This paper presents a method on applying Genetric Algorithms(GA), which is a well-know high performance optimizing algorithm, to construct the self-organizing fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy logic controller considered in this paper utilized Sugeno's hybrid inference method. which has an advantage of simple defuzzification process in the inference engine. Genetic algorithm is used to find the iptimal parameters in the FLC. The proposed approach will be demonstrated using 2 d. o. f robot manipulator to verify its effectiveness.

  • A new chattering free PD-sliding mode hybrid control scheme is proposed for robot manipulators. This hybrid controller is composed of a PD controller and a semi-continuous sliding mode controller. It has a good robust performance in reaching mode which does not possess invariance property of sliding mode, and has chattering free characteristics in sliding mode. Thus, the PD-sliding mode hybrid controller has a good robust performance in the whole region. It is shown that the proposed control has a good transient response and trajectory tracking performance for a 2-link SCARA robot manipulator.

  • This paper presents neural networks for hybrid position/force control which is a type of position and force control for robot manipulators. The performance of conventional hybrid position/force control is excellent in the case of the exactly-known dynamic model of the robot, but degrades seriously as the uncertainty of the model increases. Hence, the neural network control scheme is presented here to overcome such shortcoming. The introduced neural term is designed to learn the uncertainty of the robot, and to control the robot through uncertainty compensation. Further more, the learning rule of the neural network is derived and is shown to be effective in the sense that it requires neither desired output of the network nor error back propagation through the plant. The proposed scheme is verified through the simulation of hybrid position/force control of a 6-dof robot manipulator.

  • In this paper, we deal with the kinematic and dynamic modeling of hybrid robotic systems that are constructed by combination of parallel and serial modules or series of parallel modules. Previously, open-tree structure has been employed for dynamic modeling of hybrid robotic systems. Though this method is generally used, however, it requires expensive computation as the size of the system increases. Therefore, we propose an efficient dynamic modeling methodology for hybrid robotic systems. Initially, the dynamic model for the proximal module is obtained with respect to the independent joint coordinates. Then, in order to represent the operational dynamics of the proximal module, we model virtual joints attached at the top platform of the proximal module. The dynamic motion of the next module exerts dynamic forces to the virtual joints, which in fact is equivalent to the reaction forces exerted on the platform of the lower module by the dynamics of the upper module. Then, the dynamic forces at the virtual joints are distributed to the independent joints of the proximal module. For multiple modules, this scheme can be constructed as a recursive dynamic formulation, which results in reduction of the complexness of the open-tree structure method for modeling of hybrid robotic systems. Simulation for inverse dynamics is performed to validate the proposed modeling algorithm.

  • In this paper, we discuss the force control of flexible manipulators. Since the force control of flexible manipulators with planar one or two links using the distributed-parameter modeling has been the subject of a considerable number of publications until now, real time computations of the force control schemes are possible. But, application of those control schemes to multi-link spatial manipulators is fairly complicated. In this paper, we apply a concise hybrid position/force control scheme for a flexible manipulators. We use a lumped-parameter modeling for the flexible manipulators. The Hamilton's principle is applied to derive the equations of motion for the system and then, state-space model is obtained by the Lagrange's method. Finally, comparison of simulation results with experimental results is given to show the performance of our method.
