Hybrid Shop Floor Control System for Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)

  • A shop floor can be considered as an important level to develop Computer Integrated Manufacturing system (CIMs). However, a shop floor is a dynamic environment where unexpected events continuously occur, and impose changes to the planned activities. To deal with this problem, a shop floor should adopt an appropriate control system that is responsible for the coordination and control of the manufacturing physical flow and information flow. In this paper, a hybrid control system is described with a shop floor activity methodology called Multi-Layered Task Initiation Diagram (MTD). The architecture of the control model contains three levels: i.e., he shop floor controller (SFC), the intelligent agent controller (IAC) and the equipment controller (EC). The methodology behind the development of the control system is an intelligent multi-agent paradigm that enables the shop floor control system to be an independent, an autonomous, and distributed system, and to achieve an adaptability to change of the manufacturing environment.

Simultaneous Optimization of Hybrid Mid-Story Isolation System and Building Structure (하이브리드 중간층 지진 격리 시스템과 빌딩 구조물의 동시 최적화)

  • A hybrid mid-story seismic isolation system with a smart damper has been proposed to mitigate seismic responses of tall buildings. Based on previous research, a hybrid mid-story seismic isolation system can provide effective control performance for reduction of seismic responses of tall buildings. Structural design of the hybrid mid-story seismic isolation system is generally performed after completion of structural design of a building structure. This design concept is called as an iterative design which is a general design process for structures and control devices. In the iterative design process, optimal design solution for the structure and control system is changed at each design stage. To solve this problem, the integrated optimal design method for the hybrid mid-story seismic isolation system and building structure was proposed in this study. An existing building with mid-story isolation system, i.e. Shiodome Sumitomo Building, was selected as an example structure for more realistic study. The hybrid mid-story isolation system in this study was composed of MR (magnetorheological) dampers. The stiffnessess and damping coefficients of the example building, maximum capacity of MR damper, and stiffness of isolation bearing were simultaneously optimized. Multi-objective genetic optimization method was employed for the simultaneous optimization of the example structure and the mid-story seismic isolation system. The optimization results show that the simultaneous optimization method can provide better control performance than the passive mid-story isolation system with reduction of structural materials.

  • In this paper, a power flow control of PV hybrid module system with ESS is proposed. Photovoltaic(PV) hybrid module system is consist of individual converter, central inverter, and energy storage system(ESS). Because PV power can be changed in particular hours and environment condition, the power management control for ESS is required. In this paper, the power flow control method for PV hybrid module system with ESS is proposed. The validity of proposed control method is verified by simulations and theoretical analysis.

  • In this paper, an approach to designing controllers for dynamic hybrid Tension/Mobile control of a installed robot for a troy wire cable is presented. Mobile control system of robot is designed based on equation of dc motor and tension control system is designed based on equation of ac servomotor for generating torque and dynamic equation of a wire cable. Dynamic hybrid control system is proposed by feedforward controller with acceleration and tension at start of robot to the case where the tow task of robot dynamics is suppressed a mutual interference. The proposed system is simulated and experimented, results is verified the utilities.

  • Hybrid semi-active control system is applied to improve the seismic peformance of the building structure against earthquake excitation and the LQR-based semi-active control algorithm is developed to tune the integrated stiffness/damping characteristics of the hybrid system complementarily. Numerical simulation for a 8-story shear building has been carried out to verify the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method. Analysis results showed that the hybrid system can be a compromising solution to the seismic response control problem, compared with conventional variable stiffness or variable damping systems. Comparison results proved that the proposed algorithm can perform refined tuning of the stiffness and damping coefficients of the hybrid semi-active control system better than sliding mode control algorithm.

  • In this paper we proposed the design of the hybrid road lighting control system using solar-light generation. The proposed hybrid road lighting control system be power offer through hybrid controller using Solar-Light Generation, and it is designed so that it can control lighting up. To control supply of continuous power when during power shortages. And the gateway be transmit control command using zigbee to road lighting to ensure that automatic lighting control on human sensing. In this case, the gateway is apply the lighting control algorithm that decisions to the status of the system by a pre-set time schedule and be able to operate. In this paper, the proposed efficiency analysis results of a hybrid road lighting control system was consumed power of 129.6W per day, 3.8KW per month, 47.3KW per annual. As a result, it were able to increase the energy efficiency than existing lighting control system by reduce power consumption of 76.2% and the electricity prices of 76.8%.

  • In this paper, a hybrid photovoltaic fuel-cell generation system employing an electrolyzer for hydrogen generation and battery for storage purpose is designed and simulated. The system is applicable for remote areas or isolated DC loads. Control strategy has been considered to achieve permanent power supply to the load via the photovoltaic/battery or the fuel cell based on the power available from the sun. MATLAB and SIMULINK have been used for the simulation work. A sensitivity analysis is conducted for various load level based on availability of solar radiation.

  • This paper presents the power control for the hybrid electric propulsion system. In this paper, the hybrid propulsion system consists cf the generator and battery as power supply system in ship. The hybrid control system is designed with energy saving algorithm for decreasing the power consumption of power supply system. This paper suggests the method to increase efficiency of hybrid electric propulsion system by developing battery charging system. The performance of power control system is analyzed with the experiment equipment for hybrid propulsion system, and the results showed a good property.

  • In this study, a novel hybrid vehicle is proposed. The vehicle has a flywheel-engine hybrid system. Flywheels are more effective as energy charge systems than electric batteries in a respect of output power density. However, transmissions to effectively drive flywheels are very complex systems such as CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions). In the proposed hybrid vehicle, Constant Pressure System is employed, which is hydraulic power transmission. Using Constant Pressure Systems, hydraulic CVTs are easily realized with variable displacement pumps/motors. In this paper, firstly, the proposed flywheel hybrid vehicle making use of Constant Pressure System is described. Secondly, fuel consumption characteristics of the flywheel hybrid vehicle are experimentally examined with the stationary test facility, which employs a flywheel as a load emulating vehicle inertia. Finally, the experimental results and discussions are described. Fuel consumption of 26km/L is expected for 10 mode driving schedule with vehicle mass of 1500kg.

  • Power-line communication (PLC) has influenced smart grid development. In addition, PLC has also been instrumental in current research on internet-of-things (IoT). Due to the implementation of PLC in smart grid and IoT environments, strides have been made in PLC and its combination with the wireless system to form a hybrid communication system. Also, PLC has evolved from a single-input-single-output (SISO) configuration to multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) configuration system, and from a point-to-point communication system to cooperative communication systems. In this work, we extend a MIMO wireless two-way amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative communication system to a hybrid PLC and wireless (PLC/W) system configuration. We then maximize the weighted sum-rate for the hybrid PLC/W by optimizing the precoders at each node within the hybrid PLC/W system. The sum-rate problem was found to be non-convex, therefore, an iterative algorithm is used to find the optimal precoders that locally maximize the system sum-rate. For our simulation results, we compare our proposed hybrid PLC/W configuration to a PLC only and wireless only configuration at each node. Due to an improvement in system diversity, the hybrid PLC/W configuration outperformed the PLC only and wireless only system configurations in all simulation results presented in this paper.
