  • The present review has mainly focused on the specific parameters including aging (aging days, temperature, relative humidity, and air flow), eating quality (flavor, tenderness and juiciness), microbiological quality and economic (shrinkage, retail yields and cost) involved beef dry aging process. Dry aging is the process where beef carcasses or primal cuts are hanged and aged for 28 to 55 d under controlling environment conditions in a refrigerated room with $0^{\circ}$ to $4^{\circ}C$ and with relative humidity of 75 to 80 %. However there are various opinions on dry aging procedures and purveyors of such products are passionate about their programs. Recently, there has been an increased interest in dry aging process by a wider array of purveyors and retailers in the many countries. Dry aging process is very costly because of high aging shrinkage (6 to 15 %), trims loss (3 to 24 %), risk of contamination and the requirement of highest grades meat with. The packaging in highly moisture-permeable bag may positively impact on safety, quality and shelf stability of dry aged beef. The key effect of dry aging is the concentration of the flavor that can only be described as "dry-aged beef". But the contribution of flavor compounds of proteolysis and lipolysis to the cooked dry aged beef flavor is not fully known. Also there are limited scientific studies of aging parameters on the quality and palatability of dry aged beef.

Modeling of Moisture Diffusion Coefficient with Porosity in Concrete (공극률 변화를 고려한 콘크리트의 수분확산계수 모델)

  • The nonlinear humidity distribution occurs due to the moisture diffusion when a concrete is exposed to an ambient air. These nonlinear humidity distribution induces shrinkage cracks on surfaces of the concrete. Because shrinkage cracks largely affect the durability and serviceability of concrete structures, the moisture diffusion in concrete must be investigated. The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of the moisture diffusion coefficient that governs moisture diffusion within concrete structures. To propose the model, numerical analysis were performed based on several experiments. Because the moisture diffusion coefficient is changed with aging, especially at early ages, the proposed model includes aging effect by terms of the porosity as well as the humidity of concrete.

  • The humidity-sensitive specimens-(BaS11T-S1xTCaS1xT)TiOS13T, x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5-were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method which is easy in process control of microstructure and good in mass production, and their humidity-sensitive characteristics were examined. Ca inhibits grain growth and the open porosity increases with Ca substitution, and the specimens at x=0.5 show the best humidity sensitivity. Their humidity sensitivity is higher at the lower frequencies, and drift phenomenon in humidity sensitivity is exhibted with aging in the air, which disappears by a heat treatment. The electrical conduction with water adsorption is dominated by the ions, and the activation energy decreases with increasing relative humidity.

The effect of air quality and humidity on aged characteristics of beeswax-treated paper during artificial aging (인공열화 시 공기질 및 습도가 밀랍지의 열화에 미치는 영향)

  • A beeswax-treated paper has no air permeability but has the water repellency compared with a general Hanji. Because of these properties, the differences of the aging factors and mechanisms between the outer partition of beeswax-treated paper that is affected by the surrounding conservation environment and the inner partition of it that is not affected are bigger than general books. In this research, we analyzed and compared the aging characteristics through the accelerated aging of the beeswax-treated paper by some air and humidity conditions. The results of the physical and optical analysis after the artificial aging, it was shown that the oxygen accelerates the aging of the beeswax-treated paper and the condition with the humidity 50% RH is more stable than the condition with the humidity 0% RH. The results of the CG/MS analysis that was conducted to figure out the decomposition charateristics of the beeswax according to the air quality and the humidity, a low molecular weight compound that the number of carbon is C9-C20 including a fatty acid such as a palmitic acid was increased as the aging was progressed. However, under the same environment, a compound that the number of carbon is C21-C36 including a hydrocarbon and a aliphatic alcohol and a high molecular weight compound that the number of carbon is more than C34 including a wax ester were decreased. A rate of change according to the air quality and the humidity was similar to the beeswax-treated papers.

  • For aerospace propulsion systems, Titanium Hydride Potassium Perchlorate (THPP) is a material commonly used as a pyrotechnic initiator that generates gas when energy is supplied or as a supplement charge for NASA standard initiator (NSI). However, when the energetic materials are stored for a long time, it faces the problem of 'aging'. In this study, changes in thermodynamic properties of THPP aged under various humidity environments were identified through thermal analysis and surface analysis. First, a considerable amount of cracks on the surface of the oxidant was found in the aged THPPs. Particularly, when the humidity level increased, the number and length of the cracks rapidly increased. Also, the deterioration of Viton was found only in the thermally aged sample whereas the oxidation of the fuel was more pronounced in the hygrothermally aged samples. The extracted kinetic parameters of THPP on the reaction progress vary greatly by the humidity level, indicating that moisture significantly changes the performance and combustion reaction of THPP, which may eventually result in a reduced lifespan.

  • This paper provides the results of accelerated aging test of 18kV ZnO lightning arresters to investigate the leakage current characteristics. It was impossible to establish the replacement criterion for field operating lightning arrester because conventional aging test was only focused on the aging of ZnO elements. In general, it is possible to replace the aged arresters before the failure in the field using the leakage current measurement because it must be increased by the aging. But we can not use the method because we don't know the characteristics of the installed lightning arresters. Therefore in this paper we applied operating voltage and accelerating cycle which consists of temperature and humidity to the arresters. Then we measured the variation of total and resistive leakage current and found out the characteristics of the acted lightning arresters.

Analysis of Photovoltaic module's Phenomena of aging with Acceleration Test (외부환경적 가속시혐에 의한 PV모듈의 열화성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we examined 10 domestic samples of three different model using thermal, humidity freeze, thermal-endurance and damp heat test under IEC61215 photovoltaic module environmental endurance test condition. Three was almost no changes on power generation. Insulation resistance capacity was much higher than judgement standard but, showed unstable results depending on environmental test items. On external appearance test, there were two models which showed bubble, humidity penetration, seal melted frame phenomenon. From this results, the degree of aging under the external environment is a main cause that shortens photovoltaic module life time. So it is considered that the efforts for finding optimum condition of manufacturing process should be needed.

  • This study presents an approach to predict insulation resistance failure of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) using non-linear modeling. A capacitance aging model created by non-linear modeling allowed for the prediction of insulation resistance failure. The MLCC data tested under temperature-humidity-bias testing conditions showed that a change in capacitance, when measured against a capacitance aging model, was able to provide a prediction of insulation resistance failure.

  • This paper presents a changes of luminescence property for converted white LEDs with the commercially available silicate phosphor. If silicate phosphor's quantity increase step by step. luminescence property will be changing. we analyze luminescence property for these change and carry out the high temperature aging test for 7,000 hours, the high temperature and humidity aging test for 7,000 hours for reliability. LED degradation not only results in reduced light output but also in color changes. so we monitor correlated color temperature (CCT), chromaticity coordinates(x, y) and spectrum intensity. Those results suggest that humidity factor more bad effect in color changes than temperature factor and Lighting quality is related with quantity of phosphor.
