  • Due to the need of data for a Human Reliability Analysis (HRA), a number of data collection efforts have been undertaken in several different organizations. As a part of this effort, a human error analysis that focused on a set of simulator records on a Steam Generator Tube Rupture (SGTR) scenario was performed by using the Human Event Repository and Analysis (HERA) system. This paper summarizes the process and results of the HERA analysis, including discussions about the usability of the HERA system for a human error analysis of simulator data. Five simulated records of an SGTR scenario were analyzed with the HERA analysis process in order to scrutinize the causes and mechanisms of the human related events. From this study, the authors confirmed that the HERA was a serviceable system that can analyze human performance qualitatively from simulator data. It was possible to identify the human related events in the simulator data that affected the system safety not only negatively but also positively. It was also possible to scrutinize the Performance Shaping Factors (PSFs) and the relevant contributory factors with regard to each identified human event.

  • The environment is composed of at least two components, the natural and the human-made one. Nonetheless, the environment is being used to connote the natural environment. Moreover, even though the components of environment exist in a mutual relationship as a mechanism, it is rare to study the components of environment and their system as a mechanism. With such an implication, this paper aims to identify the components of environment and their system. The components of environment can be categorized by two criteria. One is the subject of creating environment, and the other is the visuality of environment. The former categorizes the environment into the natural and the human-made one, and the latter into physical and nonphysical one. Integrating the two criteria into a framework, the environment can be categorized into the natural, the human-made physical, and the human-made nonphysical environment. The three categories of environment exist interrelatedly in a mechanism being characterized as a mutual impact. The mechanism may be called the environmental system. The environmental system can be analyzed in terms of two dimensions. One is a human-inclusive system. The other is a human-centered system. The former is a framework that includes humans as a component of environment. The latter is a framework that humans are the subject of the environment, and the others surrounding human life are the object of the environment. The former is defined as a circular system of material and energy, while the latter is defined as a mutual subjective-objective system.

  • This study was conducted to design a new human model and education system for the sustainable life of mankind. Human society is facing a crisis. This study presents a comprehensive plan as the final version of the servicism study. Since the problems of human society are all human problems, research was conducted focusing on the new human and education system. Modern society is markedly different from the existing society in terms of time, space, and humanity, and the leading role of individuals is increased due to the increase in literacy, which can lead to breakdown and ground breaking in an instant. As the value of growth and freedom is increasing, technological innovation is accelerating, and industries and enterprises are growing significantly, so new technologies and industries may put human society at great risk. This study comprehensively diagnosed these problems in the current human society. The problems related to human and education were presented in depth while analyzing and synthesizing the problems presented in the existing servicism studies. The necessary and sufficient conditions for a new system to solve the problems raised were derived. And a system that satisfies these conditions was derived and presented. The new system was named servicism human and education system as a system based on the service philosophy. The structure, operation model, and implementation plan of the new system were presented. The basic structure is a human view that recognizes both reason and irrationality, an education system in which intelligence education and virtue education are balanced, and an education system in which human effort and the values of unwieldy nature are respected. A new education system needs to be put into operation along with the improvement of modern ideology and the compensation system for efforts. Since this study presented a macroscopic direction, further studies are needed to further refine this study.

  • This paper reviews and assesses the analogy between the human immune system and network intrusion detection systems. The promising results from a growing number of proposed computer immune models for intrusion detection motivate this work. The paper begins by briefly introducing existing intrusion detection systems (IDS's). A set of general requirements for network-based IDS's and the design goals to satisfy these requirements are identified by a careful examination of the literature. An overview of the human immune system is presented and its salient features that can contribute to the design of competent network-based IDS's are analysed. The analysis shows that the coordinated actions of several sophisticated mechanisms of the human immune system satisfy all the identified design goals. Consequently, the paper concludes that the design of a novel network-based IDS based on the human immune system is promising for future network-based IDS's

  • The purpose of this paper is to review recent developments in lower limb exoskeletons. The exoskeleton system is a human-robot cooperation system that enhances the performance of the wearer in various environments while the human operator is in charge of the position control, contextual perception, and motion signal generation through the robot's artificial intelligence. This system is in the form of a mechanical structure that is combined to the exterior of a human body to improve the muscular power of the wearer. This paper is followed by an overview of the development history of exoskeleton systems and their three main applications in military/industrial field, medical/rehabilitation field and social welfare field. Besides the key technologies in exoskeleton systems, the research is presented from several viewpoints of the exoskeleton mechanism, human-robot interface and human-robot cooperation control.

  • This paper presents the moving object detection and tracking algorithm using edge information base on human perceptual system The human visual system recognizes shapes and objects easily and rapidly. It's believed that perceptual organization plays on important role in human perception. It presents edge model(GCS) base on extracted feature by perceptual organization principal and extract edge information by definition of the edge model. Through such human perception system I have introduced the technique in which the computers would recognize the moving object from the edge information just like humans would recognize the moving object precisely.

  • The application of human-factor concept in developing a complex weapon system is important for system engineer to determine the system performance and reliability. This paper describes the evaluation procedure of human factors in the X-system wherein the evaluation result provides a better performance than the previous model in operatability and maintainability. The criteria used for the evaluation of a design adequacy of the X-system are based on the military human-factor standards.

  • In this paper, a model of adaptive individual life support system is proposed from the viewpoint of cybernetics. This model is derived based on the relation between human behavior and human action, static and dynamic in processing speed, and abstract/concrete. In applications, task and information of human which includes in this system analyzed by paying attention to cybernetics. This paper shows a few actual example of modeling by fundamental adaptive individual life support model such as medical diagnosis, health care and education support. Finally as an example, design and implementation are concretely carried out for health care support system. This is also a method to design a information support system which is involved in human.

  • This paper proposes an intelligent video surveillance system for human object tracking. The proposed system integrates the object extraction, human object recognition, face detection, and camera control. First, the object in the video signals is extracted using the background subtraction. Then, the object region is examined whether it is human or not. For this recognition, the region-based shape descriptor, angular radial transform (ART) in MPEG-7, is used to learn and train the shapes of human bodies. When it is decided that the object is human or something to be investigated, the face region is detected. Finally, the face or object region is tracked in the video, and the pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) controllable camera tracks the moving object with the motion information of the object. This paper performs the simulation with the real CCTV cameras and their communication protocol. According to the experiments, the proposed system is able to track the moving object(human) automatically not only in the image domain but also in the real 3-D space. The proposed system reduces the human supervisors and improves the surveillance efficiency with the computer vision techniques.

  • A series of system dynamics model was developed for forecasting demand and supply of human resource in the electricity industry. To forecast demand of human resource in the electric power industry, BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) methodology was used. To forecast supply of human resource in the electric power industry, forecasting on the population of our country and the number of students in the department of electrical engineering were performed. After performing computer simulation with developed system dynamics model, it is discovered that the shortage of human resource in the electric power industry will be 3,000 persons per year from 2006 to 2015, and more than a double of current budget is required to overcome this shortage of human resource.
