  • The principal objective of this study was to determine the effects of diet knowledge and perception on diet practice behavior among university students. Data were collected between March and April of 2005 from 523 male and female university students in Seoul and Chungbuk, via a self-administered questionnaire. The subjects included 217 male students (41.5%) and 306 female students (58.5%), and 52.0% of the subjects were 21-23 years old. With regard to residence type, 42.6% of the subjects lived in the dormitory, home (29.1%) self-boarding (19.5%) and meal (8.8) were in the order. The average weights and heights of the subjects were as follows: 70.9$\pm$9.0 kg and 174.3$\pm$4.4 cm in the male students and 53.9$\pm$5.9 kg and 161.3$\pm$4.5 cm in the female students. The average BMI values of the male and female students were 23.4$\pm$2.5 and 20.8$\pm$2.1, respectively. The average nutritional knowledge scores were as follows: 1.96 out of 3.0, dietary habit (2.13), nutrition (2.0), exercise (1.98), preferred food (1.90), and chronic disease (1.79). We noted no significant differences between the male and female subjects in terms of scored points. Nutritional knowledge by gender and residence type were shown to be significantly different--the male subjects had higher scores for exercise than did the female subjects. The self-boarding subjects had significantly lower scores with regard to nutritional knowledge and chronic disease. The experience and duration of previous diet practice were also significantly different with regard to gender and residence type. The male subjects tended to conduct diet practice for longer periods than females. The self-boarding students reported more attempts at diet behavior, but for shorter durations. The results show that the nutritional knowledge and diet practice behavior of the subjects were influenced by gender and residence type.

  • The purposes of this study are to search for counselor's change process and factors in Theraplay, and to explore how they are changed into experts. This study used a method of qualitative study to reveal a concrete context of child counseling. The results are as follows. Therapist or counselor subjects realized that therapy(counseling) was not focusing on activities, but on meanings. In the beginning, therapist subjects acted according to the situation rather than according to the child's reactions and their own strategy. It was expressed into long and boring explanations, trials to flatter a child. Therapist subjects were often depressed because of their incompetence, they even did overpraise for the undistinguished behavior of children, but gradually they have changed into expert therapists through ceaseless interaction with Theraplay community, reflection, trial and practice.

  • The foot plays an important role in supporting the body and keeping body balance. An abnormal walking habit breaks the balance of the human body as well as the function of the foot. The foot orthotics which is designed to consider biomechanics effectively distributes the load of the human body on the sole of the foot. In this paper, gait analysis was performed for three male subjects wearing the orthotics. In this study, three male subjects were selected. The experimental apparatus consists of a plantar pressure analysis system and digital EMG system. The gait characteristics are simulated by ADAMS/LifeMOD. The COP (Center of Pressure), EMG and ground reaction force were investigated. As a result of gait analysis, the path of COP was improved and muscle activities were decreased with orthotics on the abnormal walking subjects.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the thermal resistance of pesticideprotective clothing and to investigate its subjective wear performance. Three different nonwoven fabrics, which provide barrier properties against water and pesticide, were used to manufacture the experimental clothing: spunbonded nonwoven (SB), spunbonded/meltblown/spunbonded nonwoven (SM), and spunlaced nonwoven (SL). The thermal insulation values of the experimental clothing were measured with a thermal manikin, and other wear trials were performed on human subjects in a climate chamber at $28^{\circ}C$, with 70% R.H. and air movement at less than 0.15m/s. Our results found that the thermal resistance was lower in the SB experimental clothing than in the others; that the mean skin temperature of subjects who wore the experimental clothing made with SL was significantly lower than that of subjects who wore the SB and SM clothing; and that the microclimate temperature and humidity with SB were significantly higher than that of the others. Overall, the experimental clothing made with SL was more comfortable than the others in terms of subjective wear sensations.

  • The study is to find out any significant relations in clothing behaviors according to attitudinal body image and plastic surgery attitude. The sampling method was a convenient sampling, and the subjects were 190 male and 160 female students in Daejeon. The survey was conducted from June 20 to July 15, 2008. The data were analyzed by the frequency analysis, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test and variance analysis. The subjects who pay much attention to weights and appearances have a positive attitude to plastic surgery. As they concern their body weights and appearance, they have high exhibition of clothing. Those who think their body as being attractive have been more interested in clothing and fashion. The subjects who have positive attitude for plastic surgery are more interested in clothing and fashion, showing higher conformity of clothing.

  • The present study examined the effects of preview sentences and paragraphing in expository text on subjects' recall of the text. College students who participated in this study were randomly assigned to one of four text version groups: the no preview sentences and no paragraphing group, the no preview sentences and paragraphing group, the preview sentences and no paragraphing group, and the preview sentences and no paragraphing group. The result showed no significant effects of preview sentences and paragraphing. However, students' learning ability being considered, significant interaction effects were found. Although subjects with high learning ability recalled well regardless of whether or not passage was paragraphed, subjects with low learning ability recalled more in paragraphing condition than no paragraphing condition. The implication of these results is discussed.

  • More than 90 percent of traffic accidents were caused by human errors in driving situation. However, the ergonomic studies were not enough to prevent these human errors. Especially, drivers acquire more than 70 percent of information using the vision, and this shows the importance of consideration about the driver's visual cognition characteristics. Consequently, the driver's cognition time and the cognition accuracy were measured for the Instrument Panel(IP) of vehicle cockpit in this study. For the experiment, subjects were divided in two groups. The first group of subjects had their own vehicles and the driver license, and the second group of the subjects didn't have own vehicle but had the driver license. IP Images were used in the experiment and the each image was made by changing layout of objects within devices. The results showed that there were no differences for the cognition time and the accuracy between images within the group, and the results between the groups showed the same trend.
