The effect of menu structure for electronic information guide on information search (Electronic Information Guide 메뉴 구조가 정보검색에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of menu width and depth on the efficiency of information search and menu preference was investigated to identify an optimal menu structure for EIG which reflects the characteristics of human information processing. Information search time increased stepwisely as the menu width exceeded 6 items and linearly as the level of menu depth increased. The linear relationship between the error rate and the number of depth levels seems to be caused by the increase in the items to be remembered. When a menu structure was constructed by combining different menu depths and widths, it was observed that making the menu width wider rather than the depth deeper allows better information search. The menu structure rated as the most preferable and the easiest to user was that of pyramidal form. Such a result seems to come from its structural similarity to general categories which people get used to and implies that one should consider user preference as well as efficiency of search when he/she designs an EIG menu.

  • In this paper, a new method of measuring of distance between digital images, the 2D Integra-Normalizer, is proposed and compared with the grey block distance (GBD) to show its superiority of images. The 2D Integra-Normalizer removes a restriction that the image to be compared is {{{{ { 2}^{n } }}}} dimension where n is a positive integer, which means that any dimensional image can be applied to the 2D Integra-Normalizer for measuring distance of images. In addition, the 2D Integra-Normalizer measures the distance of images more in detail than the GBD with a better interpretation that is more close to human's intuitive understanding.

  • Single formative language created by the standardization of industrial society carries a cell constructive aspect. Such space structural form made gigantic buildings, which has a symbolism as an independent object. Such space shows a morphological symbolism by public preference but it did not establish essential meaning of a shape or concentrated relation. In this regard, this paper tries to show organic similarity of structural formality of small commercial space (patterned space), which was made by the continuity of concentrated patterns not an object of dualistic unit features. Therefore, this study analyzed the cultural, commercial and public space based upon systematical concept and features. Systematical space formality that makes multilateral relation between human, environment and a thing is a concentrated view point by relational features not by the cluster displayed by hierarchical features. Systematical space of small patterned space emphasized its appropriateness of expansion and creating diversified spaces unlike gigantic symbolic buildings.

Realistic Soap Bubble Appearance using Background Scene and Kelvin Temperature Matching

  • VR and AR contents provide a rich user experience [1]. Realistic content with human computer interaction and immersion provides an improved user experience, but there is a limit to producing all elements realistically. In this study, we propose a method to advance the rendering of immersive content using background color information [2]. First, the elements necessary for Kelvin temperature rendering are derived from the color and background as context elements, and the rendering effect has been realized in the soap bubble. For soap bubbles Kelvin temperature rendering, the average color of the background is extracted and the color with the highest similarity is applied by comparing the main color and Kelvin temperature.

  • Citation-based article summarization is to create a shortened text for an academic article, reflecting the content of citing sentences which contain other's thoughts about the target article to be summarized. To deal with the problem, this study introduces an extractive summarization method based on calculating a linear combination of various sentence salience scores, which represent the degrees to which a candidate sentence reflects the content of author's abstract text, reader's citing text, and the target article to be summarized. In the current study, salience scores are obtained by computing surface-level textual similarities. Experiments using CL-SciSumm datasets show that the proposed method parallels or outperforms the previous approaches in ROUGE evaluations against SciSumm-2017 human summaries and SciSumm-2016/2017 community summaries.

  • One of the topics in school mathematics is the relation between the roots and the coefficients of equations. It deals with the way to find the roots out of the coefficients of equations. One of the concepts derived from the theory of equations is symmetric functions. Symmetry is a kind of functionality of human cognition. It is, in mathematics, geometrically related to the congruence and the similarity of figures, and algebraically a kind of invariants. We look at stories on the appearance of symmetric functions through the development of the theory of equations.

Classification in Different Genera by Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I Gene Using CNN-LSTM Hybrid Model

  • The COI gene is a sequence of approximately 650 bp at the 5' terminal of the mitochondrial Cytochrome c Oxidase subunit I (COI) gene. As an effective DeoxyriboNucleic Acid (DNA) barcode, it is widely used for the taxonomic identification and evolutionary analysis of species. We created a CNN-LSTM hybrid model by combining the gene features partially extracted by the Long Short-Term Memory ( LSTM ) network with the feature maps obtained by the CNN. Compared to K-Means Clustering, Support Vector Machines (SVM), and a single CNN classification model, after training 278 samples in a training set that included 15 genera from two orders, the CNN-LSTM hybrid model achieved 94% accuracy in the test set, which contained 118 samples. We augmented the training set samples and four genera into four orders, and the classification accuracy of the test set reached 100%. This study also proposes calculating the cosine similarity between the training and test sets to initially assess the reliability of the predicted results and discover new species.

  • Super resolution에서 High-frequency Details를 개선하는 것이 최근 문제이다. 기존에는 Super resolution을 Regression task로 접근하므로써 L2 Loss를 사용하여 이미지가 흐릿하게 되었다. 이를 해결하기위해, Classification task로 바꾸므로써 Cross Entropy Loss을 적용하여 Cross-entropy Super-resolution (CS)를 설계한다. CS를 통해 선명도와 Details이 개선되지만, 저주파의 CE Loss 학습으로인한 Black Artifacts가 발생한다. 그래서, L2 Loss는 저주파와 같이 큰 신호에 더 초점을 맞추므로, 성능 개선을 위해 저주파를 L2 Loss에서, 고주파를 CE Loss에서 학습시킨 Frequency-specific Cross-entropy Super-resolution (FCS)을 제안한다. 우리는 왜곡에 강하며 Human의 인식과 유사한 측정지표인 Learned Perceptual Image Patch Similarity (LPIPS)로 평가한다. 실험한 모든 데이터 셋에서 우리의 FCS는 Baseline보다 LPIPS가 약 1.7배 정도 개선되었다.

Pepstatin- Insensitive Carboxyl Proteinase: A Biochemical Marker for Late Lysosomes in Amoeba proteus

  • In order to find a biochemical marker for late Iysosomes, we characterized two cDNAs which were cloned by using a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against Iysosomes in Amoeba proteus as a probe. The two cDNAs, a 1.3-kb cDNA in pBSK-Iys45 and a 1.6-kb cDNA in pBSK-Iys60, were found to encode proteins homologous to pepstatin-insensitive carboxyl proteinases (PICPs). E. coli transformed with pBSK-Iys45 produced two immunopositive polypeptides (45 and 43 kDa) and the cDNA in 1274 bases encoded a 44,733-Da protein (Lys45) of 420 amino acids containing one site for a core oligosaccharide. On the other hand, E. coli transformed with pBSK-Iys60 produced several polypeptides (64, 54, 45, 41, and 37 kDa) reacting with the mAb. The cDNA contained 1629 bases and encoded a 59,231-Da protein (Lys60) of 530 amino acids containing two sites for asparagine-linked core oligosaccharides. These two cDNAs showed identities of 60.3% in nucleotide sequences and 23.6% in amino acid sequences. Lys45 and Lys60 appeared to share XXEFQK as a common antigenic domain. The amino acid sequence of the Lys45 protein showed 17.4% identity and 40.9% similarity to that of PICP from Pseudomonas sp. 101. On the other hand, Lys60 showed a 24.3% identity and 51.9% similarity with human Iysosomal PICP in the amino acid sequence. A putative active center for serine protease, GTS*xxxxxFxG, was found to be conserved among PICP homologues. The two PICPs are the first reported enzymatic markers for late Iysosomes.

An Analysis on the Linkage Structure of Industrial Complexes(Clusters) in the Internal and External Capital Region (수도권 산업단지(클러스터)의 광역권 내부 및 외부 연계구조 분석)

  • The policy of industrial complexes (innovative clusters) is being changed to build the linkage structure within Mega Economic Region according to the national policy of Mega Economic Region. The aim of this analysis is to draw the hypothetical linkage structure of industrial complexes in the internal and external Capital Region. First, with the survey data of firms located in the industrial complexes, we can catch the regional linkages of firms in the local area and internal and external Mega Economic Region. Next, the measure of structural similarity between industrial complexes is calculated with the number of employees by industrial sectors. After considering the geographical distance between industrial complexes, the percentage of industrial sectors and the location quotient synthetically, the idea of hub-and-spoke type linkage structure between clusters is deduced.
