Age-dependent changes in body fat can often be observed in normal population. A series of indirect body fat estimates, such as hydrodensitometry, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis(BIA), and anthropometry equation for body fat, have been developed. The BIA made it possible to analyze body fat mass more related to hydrodensitometry than anthropometry. This study is to compare the body composition analysis between bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA) and anthropometric measurements of women. The subjects were a group of Daejeon residents including 32 young-aged women($21.50{\pm}1.44$), 30 middle-aged women($50.33{\pm}5.27$), and 40 old-aged women($69.22{\pm}5.74$). We used BIA(inbody 3.0, Biospace Korea) to determine body fat and other body composition. We also measured weight, height, circumference for 12 parts, and skinfold thickness for 9 parts of all subjects' body. The results are as follows: The subjects' height by the age group were $161.74{\pm}0.94cm$ in the young-aged women, $154.16{\pm}1.09cm$ in the middle-aged, and $148.60{\pm}0.78cm$ in the old-aged respectively. BMI were, in order, $21.68{\pm}0.49,\;22.87{\pm}0.89,\;and\;23.85{\pm}0.55$. Relative body fat determined by BIA was, also in order, $29.06{\pm}0.92%,\;26.35{\pm}1.02%,and\;29.35{\pm}1.07%$. Circumference and skinfold that showed the highest correlation with body fat by BIA was waist in the young-aged(r=0.738) and bast in the middle- and old-aged(r=0.844, r=0.804), and triceps in the young-and old-aged(r=0.538, r=0.798), and subcostal in the middle-aged(r=0.872). Body fat Estimations by BIA were the highest correlation with Caucasian women's equation(r=0.588) in young-aged women, Siri's equation with Durnin & Womesley's body density measurement(r=0.875) in middle aged women and Caucasian women' equation(r=0.872) in old aged women. We need to develop specific anthropometric equations based on sex and age to determine body fat.

In this paper, a dual-band on-body antenna operating at MICS and ISM band for a wireless medical repeater system is proposed and the antenna performance including the human body effect is investigated. The designed dual-band antenna is comprised of a top patch for ISM band and bottom patch for MICS band. Simulation and measurement was carried out in order to analyze the effects of human body on antenna performance considering real use. The proposed antenna has required impedance bandwidth enough to cover both MICS and ISM bands. The measured peak gains were -12.47 dBi and 1.71 dBi at the each center frequency of MICS and ISM bands, respectively. Furthermore, the antenna has the maximum radiation directed toward the inside of the human body in the MICS band and directed toward the outside in the ISM band. In addition, the return loss property of the antenna is insensitive to human body effects so that the proposed antenna is well suited for the on-body wireless medical repeater system.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between Yin-deficiency questionnaire score and various biofunctional signals in women. Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed on charts of 195 patients who visited Gangdong Kyung Hee Hospital between April 1st and September 30th, 2011. The subjects were categorized into two groups, a low Yin-deficiency group (n=118) and a high Yin-deficiency group (n=77). The authors analyzed the correlation between Yin-deficiency questionnaire score and biofunctional signals by Pearson's correlation coefficient test and the difference in biofunctional signals between the two groups by independent samples t-test using SPSS for windows. Results: 1. Negative correlations were observed between the temperature difference of back-humerus, standard deviation of all R-R intervals (SDNN), total power (TP), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF) on heart rate variability parameters, and Yin-deficiency questionnaire score. A positive correlation was observed between the temperature difference of knee-humerus and Yin-deficiency questionnaire score. 2. The temperature difference of back-humerus in the high Yin-deficiency group was significantly higher than that in the low Yin-deficiency group. The temperature difference of knee-humerus, height, waist-hip ratio, SDNN, TP, LF, and HF of the high Yin-deficiency group were significantly lower than those of the low Yin-deficiency group. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the comprehensive diagnosis of Yin-deficiency and biofunctional signals is useful.

A simulation using the finite-difference time-domain method to analyze the electromagnetic interactions between a cellular phone and the human body was conducted, and a synthesis of a bone-equivalent material to make a human head phantom was performed. A test model of the cellular phone was fabricated to measure its reflection coefficient and radiation pattern in the free space. Various effects of the human body on the characteristics of the phone, such as input impedance, reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, and radiation efficiency are analyzed as the distance between the head and the phone antenna varies. When the phone was operated close to the head, the resonant frequency of the antenna decreased by up to 12%. With the output power of 0.6W, as long as the distance was larger than 30mm, the 1-g averaged peak SAR was below the ANSI/IEEE safety guideline, 1.6 W/kg. To synthesize the bone-equivalent material, an epoxy with hardener and a graphite powder were used as basis ingredients, and a small amount of a conducting epoxy was added to control the conductivity of the material. A material having a relative permittivity of 18.04 and a conductivity of 0.347, which are close to those of the bone at 850 MHz, was synthesized.
Objectives : Acori Rhizoma is one of the common widely used herbal medicines with diverse bioactive effects. However, little evidence has been reported about the potential anti-platelet activity of Acori Rhizoma. The present study examined the effects on platelet aggregation by Acori Rhizoma. Methods : In this study, we tested the in vitro effect of 16 kinds of Acori Rhizoma extracts by hot water or 70% ethanol on collagen-induced platelet aggregation in human whole blood using the impedance method of aggregometry. Results : Among them, 2 kinds of 70% ethanol extract and 1 kind of hot water extract showed the significant inhibiting effect on whole blood aggregation. In particular, Acorus gramineus extracts were selected as the most effective candidate. Conclusiions : The results from this experiment provide pharmacological evidence for the traditional medicine, suggesting that Acorus gramineus could be help problems of blood circulation more than Acorus tatarinowii.

This paper presents reference ZMP trajectory generation and implementation for a biped robot via linear inverted dumbbell model (LIDM), which can consider the effect of external momentum on the center of mass (COM) of robot. Based on a reference ZMP trajectory derived by using LIDM, a base trajectory is proposed not only to make the locomotion of robot similar to that of human but also to facilitate its implementation and tuning. In order to realize a dynamic walking using the proposed trajectory, compliance, impedance and ZMP tracking controllers are adopted together. Extensive experiments show that the proposed locomotion of a biped robot is stable and also, similar to that of human. Further researches on balance recovery of a biped robot will be carried out to guarantee its robust locomotion in combination with the proposed trajectory.
The standard measuring method of the frequency characteristics of headphones has been needed because different results come from the different measuring methods because of the lack of the reasonable measuring method of headphone characteristics, for example, in the case of psycho-acoustic experiments with headphones. In this paper, based on this fact, we studied the measurement method of headphones based on the natural hearing condition of human being, that is in situ measuring method, by measuring the headphone frequency characteristics using an artificial ear and a newly proposed device, HATS(Head And Torso Simulator). From the result of this paper, we could see that the method appropriate to a so called in situ condition was the one wi9th HATS, Because HATS simulated more correctly the acoustic impedance of the ear and the diffraction effect of the human head than the artificial ear.
A fast and simple method for synthesis of CuxO-ZnO/PPy/RGO nanocomposite by electrochemical manner have been reported in this paper. For testing the utility of this nanocomposite we modified a GCE with the nanocomposite to yield a sensor for simultaneous determination of four analytes namely ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA), and folic acid (FA). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) selected for the study. The modified electrode cause to enhance electron transfer rate so overcome to overlapping their peaks and consequently having the ability to the simultaneous determination of AA, DA, UA, and FA. To synthesis confirmation of the nanocomposite, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were applied. The linearity ranges were 0.07-485 μM, 0.05-430 μM, 0.02-250 μM and 0.022-180 μM for AA, DA, UA, and FA respectively and the detection limits were 22 nM, 10 nM, 5 nM and 6 nM for AA, DA, UA, and FA respectively Also, the obtained electrode can be used for the determination of the AA, DA, UA, and FA in human blood, and human urine real samples.
Purpose: Cold storage is the most popular method used to preserve highly perishable foods such as beef and fish. However, at refrigeration temperatures, the shelf life of these foods is limited, and spoilage leads to massive food waste. Moreover, freezing significantly affects the food's properties. Ice crystallization and growth during freezing can cause irreversible textural damage to foods through volumetric expansion, moisture migration induced by osmotic pressure gradients, and concentration of solutes, which can lead to protein denaturation. Methods: Although freezing can preserve perishable foods for months, these disruptive changes decrease the consumer's perception of the food's quality. Therefore, the development and testing of new and improved cold storage technologies is a worthwhile pursuit. Results: The process of maintaining a food product in an unfrozen state below its equilibrium freezing temperature is known as supercooling. As supercooling has been shown to offer a considerable improvement over refrigeration for extending a perishable product's shelf life, implementation of supercooling in households and commercial refrigeration units would help diminish food waste. Conclusions: A commercially viable supercooling unit for all perishable food items is currently being developed and fabricated. Buildup of this technology will provide a meaningful improvement in the cold storage of perishable foods, and will have a significant impact on the refrigeration market as a whole.
Purpose: Dual cylindrical microwave chambers equipped with an ohmic heating tube were designed and fabricated to maximize the electric field strength for expeditious heat treatment of particulate foods. Methods: The efficacy of the combination heater was investigated by simulating the electric field distribution by using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Results: All components of the designed microwave heating unit were suitable for transmitting maximal microwave power to the load. The simulated electric field distribution implied that single-mode microwave heating would be sufficient for the steady generation of a highly localized heating zone in the cavity. During impedance matching, the calculated reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$) was small, possibly implying minimal power loss and wave reflection in the designed microwave heating chamber. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the possibility of concentrating the microwave power at the centerline for a single-frequency microwave, for thermal treatment of multiphase foods without attenuating the microwave power.
