Realization of 3D Human's bone, Alimentary Canal and Cardiovascular system by Internet (인터넷 기반에서의 3차원 시뮬레이션을 위한 인체골격과 내부 장기 및 심장혈관계의 구현)

  • Currently, the lack of equipments for the medical practice and education made it impossible for the people in medical institution to carry out suitable experiments for observing human bodies. In this paper, the authors embodied three dimensional images and moving pictures for the human skeletal structure, digestive organs, cardiovascular system and their processes over the internet framework. The three dimensional images and moving picture made it possible for the general people as well as the specialists to observe and obtain informations with regard to the human body. specially, the authors realized a framework for visualizing the human bodies in three dimensional images, via which a detailed and realistic architecture for the human body and its organs tan be obtained. The system developed in this paper can be used in the practice and education of the people engaged in medical fields.

  • WBSN (Wireless Body Sensor Network), also called WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) generally, is a kind of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) applications, which is composed of the various sensor nodes residing in human body embodied or in wearable way. The measured data at each sensor node in WBSN requires being synchronized at sink node for exact analysis for status of human body, which is like WSN. Although many time synchronization protocols for WSN has been already developed, they are not appropriate to WBSN. In this paper, a new time synchronization protocol for WBSN considering the characteristics of WBSN is proposed. The proposed scheme is not only simple, but also consumes less power, leading to increasing network life time. We will show that the proposed scheme is appropriate to WBSN by evaluating its performance by simulation.

  • A web based virtual try-on provides customers a more enjoyable shopping experience that visualize clothes on personal mannequin. The researchers compared virtual fitting models which were developed in 2000 at Korea and in 2000 and 2002 at U.S. The results of this study as follows: The information about user's body size was required to input for selection of a virtual fitting model. 7 to 19 different body size, shape, and face features including weight and height were needed for visualizing virtual fitting model. The body type of the U.S virtual fitting model(My virtual model) was selected by front view silhouette for women, and by shoulder width and midriff silhouette for men. The more detailed information was required for developing Korean virtual fitting model. The additional body size information required in the site were leg and arm lengths, waist length, and thigh and ankle circumferences. The body proportion of Korean cyber personal mannequin was longer and narrower than the U.S cyber personal mannequin. It was recommended that standardized body length, width, and depth proportions calculated from national anthropometric data must be applied for developing Korean virtual fitting model. With application of more detailed information on face feature and advanced graphic image technology the 'My virtual model in 2002 resembled the human body shape of various race.

Study of a Gravity Compensator for the Lower Body (중력보상기 기반의 하지용 외골격 장치 설계 연구)

  • This paper is about the design of a new gravity compensator for the lower body exo-skeleton device. The exo-skeleton devices is for increasing the torque of the human body joint for the purpose of helping the disabled, workers in the industry, and military soldiers. So far, most of studied exo-skeleton devices are actuated by the motors, but motors are limited in energy such that a short durability is always a big problem. In this paper, a new gravity compensator is proposed to reduce the torque load applied to human body joints due to gravity. The gravity compensator is designed using a tortional bar spring, and its structure and characteristics are studied through the test and computer simulation. A design concept on the exo-skeleton device using the gravity compensator is presented. An analysis and computer simulation on the torque reduction of the proposed exo-skeleton device that applies and non-applies the gravity compensator are performed.

  • Recently, the automotive technology has developed with electronics and information technology as convergence technology while vehicles had been regarded as machines. Moreover, vehicles are becoming more intelligent and safer devices, assembly of advanced technologies by customers' demand. Even though all of installations of vehicle have attracted as diverting devices, it cause drivers' mistakes like delay of response on traffic condition. Here, we proposed the Field Operational Test (FOT) environment which could be used as driving and road conditions collector(Vehicle motion, Traffic condition, Driver input, Driver state, etc.) for researches about Driver Friendly Intelligent System(SCC, LDWS, etc.), Human Vehicle Interface(Driving Workload, etc.) and Economic Drive Model. Furthermore driving patten and fuel consumption patten of drivers were analyzed by measured data and direction of future research was suggested.

  • The aim of this research is to improve the effectiveness of digital media advertising because current advertisements -in digital signage - indiscriminately appeals to the general public rather than to a specific target. In order to deliver efficient and customized advertisement information, an IoT human body detection sensor mounted on digital signage detected human faces and then classified them firstly by gender. The digital signage here is a smart digital signage that can analyze facial signals, discriminate them based on patterns, and apply the extracted data by displaying the corresponding information to the user. In addition, by identifying the customer's location approaching the smart digital signage and displaying the optimized content information for the customer's location through an algorithm, the digital signage can dramatize the advertisement Thus, this is a study meant forimproving information efficiency while reducing noise and driving power waste generated from unnecessary digital information reproduction.

A Study of Applications of 3D Body Scanning Technology - Focused on Apparel Industry - (3차원 바디 스캐너를 활용한 가상착의에 관한 인식 조사 - 업체 실무자 및 소비자를 대상으로 -)

  • The ultimate success of commercial applications of body scan data in the apparel industry will be consumers' substantial applications such as automated custom fit, size prediction, virtual try-on, personal shopper services (Loker, S. et al., 2004). In this study, we surveyed fifty consumers and forty-seven apparel industry workers about their recognition and interest in 3D body scanning and virtual try-on. The results are as follows: 55% of the apparel industry workers has recognized 3D body scanning as a convenient technology, but do not know how to use it. To the questions regarding virtual try-on, 53% of the workers give positive answers. The consumers have a more positive view on virtual try-on than the workers do. The workers predict that the application of 3D body scan technology to the apparel industry could offer customers helpful information in their clothing selection by using virtual images of various size and style, and increase mass production of MTM(Made-To-Measure). The answers from the male consumers in their twenties indicate that virtual try-on is useful by 88% on offline shopping and by 100% on online shopping. 53% of the workers and 68% of the consumers gave answers that just by virtual try-on they could judge the quality of the apparel products and purchase them. Absolutely 3D virtual try-on is an effective tool for online shoppers. 85% of the workers anticipate applications of the 3D body scanning also in 'body measurement', 'custom pattern development' as well as 'virtual try-on' in the near future. With the positive reactions and the stimulating interests in virtual try-on, the conditions of contemporary world encourage more active researches and wide usages of the technology in apparel industry.

Segmentation Using Curvature Information of 3D Body Surface for Tight-fit Pattern Making (상반신 밀착패턴 제작을 위한 3차원 인체 표면 곡률기준 분할)

  • It is inevitable to have cutting line to get the 2D pattern from 3D body surface. In this paper the efficiency of curvature plot as a cutting line in the process of flattening 3D surface was investigated. As reference, basic clothing construction line was adopted to divide the 3D surface into small blocks to make the flattening process easy. Female dummy as well as human body were scanned and surface of the upper body was segmented using curvature plot and basic constructing line. 2D tight-fit pattern was developed using three software, the RapidForm 2004, 2C-AN and Yuka CAD. Gap between clothes and body, and the clothing pressure on the body was observed to determine the fit of the clothes. As results, clothes constructed with blocks divided by curvature plot displayed a similar level of tight fit as compared with those by basic construction line. It was found that curvature plot is effective method as a segmentation of the 3D surface even for the actual body which does not have any previous reference line. It is expected that application of curvature plot will be expanded in 3D apparel technology.

Robust human tracking via key face information

  • Tracking human body is an important problem in computer vision field. Tracking failures caused by occlusion can lead to wrong rectification of the target position. In this paper, a robust human tracking algorithm is proposed to address the problem of occlusion, rotation and improve the tracking accuracy. It is based on Tracking-Learning-Detection framework. The key auxiliary information is used in the framework which motivated by the fact that a tracking target is usually embedded in the context that provides useful information. First, face localization method is utilized to find key face location information. Second, the relative position relationship is established between the auxiliary information and the target location. With the relevant model, the key face information will get the current target position when a target has disappeared. Thus, the target can be stably tracked even when it is partially or fully occluded. Experiments are conducted in various challenging videos. In conjunction with online update, the results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional TLD algorithm, and it has a relatively better tracking performance than other state-of-the-art methods.

  • The study is to provide basic data on improving costume's fitting by developing physical integrated Basic Bodice Block's development for body types of adult women, which is based on setting up body-type information per truncus as fundamental of adult women's top product manufacture in being ready for Mass Customization era. Also, after review on the objectivity and accuracy of fitting information by real wear and virtual wear experiment on body types, not only 3D virtual clothing system was used as way of information provider of Clothing product, but also provided as basic data in order to use effectively on portion of clothing passion in responding to trend of Mass customization in advance. The consequence of the study is as followings. After analyzing significance differences per items on real and virtual wear evaluation, bowed type of type 1 had significance differences on waist measurement and hip circumference in back and side, which would be knowing as not integrated with costume, affecting form of human body according to virtual wear system bended on back region. Also, in side evaluation, every types except straight body type of type 3 appeared significant differences. In virtual wear evaluation, costume's expression with side body types were not similar to real wear until now except straight body types. It would be improvement things from 3D virtual wear system in advance.
