A Study on the Apartments Remodeling for User-Oriented Design -Focused on the Gwang-ju, Jun-nam province- (거주자 중심의 아파트 리모델링에 관한 연구 - 광주.전남지역 아파트 대상으로 -)

  • This study researched that the remodeling was executed desirably in the side of deweller's household to the subject of ten apartment housings located in Gwang-ju, Jun-nam province. The study method was used the field study method and used in parallel with participant observation. As a result of the study, first, the problems of remodeling enforcement process are brought about standardized design, bad construction and the difficulty of solution in the defect occurrence. Second, By that request of the household is not reflected, the room except bedroom and the bathroom of inner room are low practical use degree. And wash space, garden space, assistant space of kitchen work were becoming hindrance factor of the residing environment because the use is irrational.

Mother-Child Relationship in Female-headed Single Parent Families (여성 한부모가족의 모-자녀관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difficulties, conflicts, and communications between female-headed single parents and their children, their child rearing methods and attitude, and the political suggestions for the welfare in those families. The in-depth interviews were conducted for 7 women in Gyonggi-Do and Chungnam-Do on March 3-27, 2003. The interviewees were selected for the mothers whose children were enrolled either elementary schools or middle schools. The contents of interviews were receded to be analyzed by qualitative method. The results were as follows; first, female-headed single parent families were in low economic status with unstable employment condition. Secondly, women in that families were confronted with psychological problems because of their multiple roles and low income. Third, although they had a controlled child rearing method, they used much reinforcement and praise. Thirdly, they were in need of the aids for the basic life such as housings and their children's private institute expenses. Finally, they required the repealing of an existing birthright system.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a practical guide for optimum residential and useful architectural condition in a regional area. The data has been collected through survey from exist Housing of a Go-sung Gun Toa-Sung Mun area. Those 21 Housing samples are collected, and are analyzed by standard Architectural codes, country Architectural codes and regulations This study has been processed in analysis of the unit planning and codes condition of each housings, and situation analysis through the practical investing. As a results of this study, the Housing floor plan in rural area should reflect user's needs and functional unit plan. Especially, the unit planning have a good residental environments. An instance, laundry and balcony space. These result will become basic data for the future architectural design in the Housing floor plan in rural area.

  • The objective of this article is to develop residential site planning techniques for the energy conservation by focusing on energy conscious site design process, influencing natural factors for energy conservation and suggestion of multi - family housing Prototypes. This article is the second part of the article titled "A Study on an Energy - Effective Site Planning for a Residential Environment"which is published in the previous issue (Vol. 12, No. 2) of this journal. The first part of the article dealt with how to make best use of energy conserving effect of natural forces such as sun, wind and water, and the selection techniques of suitable residential site for achieving energy conservation. The second part proposes the energy conscious design process of residential site development and suggests building forms of single family and multi -family housings. The three multi - family housing prototypes haute been developed which are most energy -effective ; the linear type, the cut -de -sac type and the atrium type. In the process of creating the prototypes, energy conserving design criteria have been also developed. These criteria can be used to develop some other alternative prototypes.

  • Wind turbine gearbox is a complex mechanical system that includes gear trains, shafts, bearings, and gearbox housings. All these component are interacting with each other therefore changing certain design parameter will affect other components. RomaxDesigner enables a reduction in development period by simulating the full gearbox system. The gear pairs, bearings and shafts are represented as analysis objects and the complex components are modelled by means of reduced stiffness matrices. The software allows durability analysis and advanced contact analysis including the effects of system misalignments in gear and bearing. In this paper the 2MW wind turbine gearbox was model led and a study on optimum design was conducted

The Effects of Residential Satisfaction on the Quality of Life of Aging people: Comparison between the Elderly Living in the Community and the Elderly Living in Senior Housings

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the direct and indirect effects of residential satisfaction on the quality of life and to analyze the difference according to the residence type. The subjects of this study were 422 elderly people aged 65 or older residing in two metropolitan municipalities. The data were analyzed by using structural equation model by multi-group analysis. The results showed that the degree of satisfaction with the residential environment indirectly affected not only the quality of life of the elderly but also social participation activities. As a result of verifying the difference of the residential satisfaction and quality of life path according to the residence type, there was a difference in the route between groups according to the type of residence. This study is significant in that the elderly who have not been interested in the elderly housing policy have been investigated and the relationship between the residential satisfaction and quality of life of the elderly by residence type has been investigated .

  • The aged small-sized apartment housing threats the safety and comfort of the residents. It is excluded from the scope of mandatory management under the Article 34 of the "Apartment Housing Management Act". According to various domestic statistics, the number of small-sized apartment housing is 261,203, which is about 66% of the total 396,076 residences in Korea, so it is urgent to formulate a systematic management plan including remodeling. However, support programs for old-aged small-sized apartment housing of the central government and local governments are not enough to solve the problems. This study aims to propose useful policy ideas to promote remodeling for small-sized apartment housing based on the analysis on the housing status in our country. The first suggestion is the diversification of government programs. Second is the development of remodeling industry technology, and third is a complement of the law about the remodeling of small-sized apartment housing.

Interest based-participation requiring accountability in greening

  • The Republic of Korea (ROK) has had a successful experience in greening its land because of strong state policy and public participation. This paper aims to analyze the interest positions, participation, and accountability of multiple actors in the process of greening movements in the ROK. These movements were divided into two phases: forest rehabilitation (1973-1997) and urban greening (1998-2017). During the first phase, farmers caused deforestation by slash-and-burn farming and illegal logging, and governmental agencies acted as helpers controlled the farmers' deforestation activities. During the second phase, government agencies and enterprises caused deforestation with urban development projects, including construction of housings and roads. Multiple actors including citizens, NGOs, and enterprises helped urban greening through campaigns, donations, and monitoring. As a result, managing interest positions is significant to motivate multiple actors to participate in the greening movement. Participation with clear accountability is meaningful for successful greening. Therefore interest-based participation requiring accountability contributes to greening. This phenomenon indicates interconnection for interest positions, participation and accountability should be considered in designing greening policies.

A Study on the Age Distribution Factors of One Person Household in Seoul using Multiple Regression Analysis (다중회귀분석을 이용한 서울시 1인 가구의 연령별 분포요인에 관한 연구)

  • While the number of total population in Seoul has been on the constant decline for the last few years, the number of household has increased due to the rising tendency of the smaller households. In 2010, the small households in the metropolitan areas accounted for 44% of the entire households, and Statistics Korea has reported that one person household, which will take up more than 30% of the whole household, will have been the most common type of household by 2020. This reason of rise will be differently shown according to age like the preferred housing type or surrounding environments, this research is suggest to research hypothesis that distinction of age leads to the spatial distribution of one person household. Therefore, this research is to exercise a multiple regression analysis targeting on the facilities, which become the spatial distribution factor of one person household, with the independent variable gained from the concluded area calculated with the area ratio of the spatial unit followed by the service area analysis based on network. The spatial unit is the census output of Seoul, and based on this the interaction between the number of one person household according to age and the factors of its distribution. Also, the spatial regions - downtown, northeast, southeast, northwest, southwest - are designed as dummy variables and the results of each region are found out. As a result, the spatial regions occupied according to age are found to be varied - people in their 20s prefer housings near the college, 30s lease or the monthly rental housings, 40s the monthly rental housings, and over 60s the housing with the floor area of less than $40m^2$. Likewise, one person household has different types of housing environments preferred according to age, and thus a housing policy concerning this will have to be suggested.

Mandibular implant supported overdentures with two different mini-implant systems: A case report (두 종류의 임플란트 시스템을 이용한 하악의 미니-임플란트지지 피개의치 수복 증례)

  • This case report describes the treatment of two fully edentulous patients with mini-implant overdentures using different implant systems on narrow mandibular alveolar bone ridge. They were complaining about discomfort and pain wearing mandibular conventional complete dentures caused by insufficient retention. Each patient received four miniimplants in the interforaminal area of the mandible using the non-submerged flapless surgical approach. One-body type implant (Slimline, Dentium, Seoul, Korea) was used for a patient and loaded immediately after surgery. Metal housings of O-ring were attached by direct technique. For the other patient, two-piece type implant (LODI, Zest Anchors, Escondido, CA, USA) was used and impressions were made for attachment connection of the Locator's metal housings after 8 weeks of surgery. Within this case report, mandibular miniimplant overdentures using different implant systems showed improvement of patient satisfaction with favorable peri-implant tissue response 6 months after attachment connection. However, long-term follow-up is needed for further evaluation.
