The Characteristics of Housing Environment of the Elderly in Apartment (공동주택 거주 노인의 주거환경 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study of elderly households living conditions to determine the overall status in the housing environment is to understand. To this end, the stage of elderly as a framework to target living consciousness, living space composition, housing Environment composition of elderly households with a comprehensive understanding and analyzes were employed. For this research is a survey conducted on senior citizens(over 60) in Busan, Korea. The major findings are as followings; In the living consciousness, the elderly households showed high perception of dependency but the age of the elderly increases, depends on the parent to the child. Also depending on the aging of the elderly considered health more important than economic conditions. The requirements for living space composition, most respondents prefer to stay in the same place where they currently reside. Move into the new housing was also identified. It was recognized that elderly households not only required living in co-residential space with their families, but also the necessity for individual space. The home environments composition, health care and social welfare support services appears overall the elderly of stage. The age of the elderly increases, a strong demand for care and support service were identified. Health activities in leisure and social activities and social activities, as age increased mainly done by the convenience of public transportation has been identified that are important.

A Study on the Actual Conditions of Living Room Lighting in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Districts (대구·경북 지역 거실 조명 실태조사)

  • This research study was conducted to determine the actual conditions of living room lighting in Daegu and Gyeongbuk districts. For this study, 112 households were surveyed. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, fluorescent light was used as the general illumination of living rooms, and the ratio of not using local sources of illumination was high. Secondly, the standard illuminance was found to be 221. The illuminance was the value that satisfied the activities for togetherness and entertainment, but did not reach the illuminance necessary for other activities, such as reading, make-up, and sewing. In addition, the uniformity of brightness used as a measure of uniformity in examining the results was normal. Thirdly, both the brightness and the satisfaction of lighting in the living room space were indicated to be normal. In addition, in regard to housing lighting, 'stability', and 'brightness of lighting' were indicated as important considerations and 'brightness of lighting', 'shadow' and 'management of lighting' were indicated as problem areas.

  • The purposes of this study are to serve s$ the bsaic data for the guidance and the dffective preparation of children's room and the children's residing environment in addition, by grasping generally the residential consciousness of children and the consciousness of children's room. For these purposes, the data were collected by using questionnare distributed to 214 5th grade elemantary school children living in Taegu. The data were analyzed using frequency, perecntile, anova, duncan's test, regression analysis. The major findings of this research are as follow: 1. It was found that many children wanted to have their own room because they are quiently able to study without being disturbed in their study. And it is shown that they were generally satisfied with the their own room. 2. There were significant differences in the consciousness of their own room according to the independent variables such as mother's age, father's job, the numbers of room. 3. The residential consciousness of children was variable according to father's age, mother's employment, the order of birth, income, the conditions of housing possession, parent's educational level, housing style, the numbers of room. 4. The mother's employment, father's educational level, the conditions of housing possession, the numbers of room, family numbers were significantly related to the evaluation of their own room. 5. Among the domains of the evaluation of their own room. the degree of width and the degree of convenience were variable to have influence on the satisfaction of their own room

  • This study aimed to grasp trends of the discourse for improving living conditions carried out since 1920's, when the sense for mending the irrationality of conventional living emerged in various magazines. Among the movement, women intellectuals played an important roles to discuss reforming daily life and unhealthy, inconvenient houseworks. This study found the ideological background and direction of this discourse, and estimated its important role for housing improvement, analyzing the contents of articles published in representative womens' magazines of the modern times. In the discourse, they thought that it was most important to make houseworks brief and efficient, and concentrated on building rational environment for houseworks. As reforming kitchen system, heating system (Ondol) should be separated from cooking system to improve hygienic and economical condition of houseworks. Reformed kitchen would be equipped with new installations for effectiveness, lightened by sunlight through windows, and finished floor with cement and drainage for sanitation. Also, they suggested new ways of living, planning modern houses with reformed kitchen system, thinking about moving path and distance of housewives. This discourse would be a foundation to the change of kitchen system up to now.

Simplified Limit Solutions for the Inclined Load Capacity of a Dynamically Installed Pile in Soft Clay

  • Offshore renewable energy resources are attractive alternatives in addressing the nation's clean energy policies because of the high demand for electricity in the coastal region. As a large portion of potential resources is in deep and farther water, economically competitive floating systems have been developed. Despite the advancement of floating technologies, the high capital cost remains a primary barrier to go ahead offshore renewable energy projects. The dynamically installed piles (DIPs) have been considered one of the most economical pile concepts due to their simple installation method, resulting in cost and time-saving. Nevertheless, applications to real fields are limited because of uncertainties and underestimated load capacity. Thus, this study suggests the appropriate analytical approach to estimate the inclined load capacity of the DIPs by using the upper bound plastic limit analysis (PLA) method. The validity of the PLA under several conditions is demonstrated through comparison to the finite element (FE) method. The PLA was performed to understand how flukes, soil profiles, and load inclinations can affect the inclined load capacity and to provide reliable evaluations of the total resistance of the DIPs. The studies show that PLA can be a useful framework for evaluating the inclined load capacity of the DIPs under undrained conditions.

A Study on Shared House Living Conditions and Needs for Young Single-Person Household's Housing Welfare: Focus on the Resident and Potential Consumer for College Student of a Shared House (청년 1인 가구의 주거복지를 위한 쉐어하우스 거주 실태와 요구도: 입주자와 잠재 수요자 대학생을 중심으로)

  • The study finds a constructive way to improve shared houses by analyzing shared house living conditions, satisfaction of the residents and potential consumer's needs. For this, a survey of 179 single-person university residents and interviews with seven young adults residing in shared house was conducted. The results showed that shared house tenants had high satisfaction in regard to bedrooms, common spaces, and rental costs. They successfully adapted to community life by frequently using the living, dining spaces, and common spaces with respect and consideration towards other tenants by following rules. Single-person university household should prefer single rooms and the biggest consideration when they move into a shared house is rent. Affordable rates were 300,000 to 350,000 Korean Won per month (40.5%) and deposit of 3 million won or less (64.3%). Results also showed a need for a professional manager residing in the house with a cleaning service for common spaces and a want to share hobbies with other tenants (3.25/5 point scale). It is very important in a housing welfare perspective that one experiences the value of living and emotional sharing to heighten the satisfaction through shared houses. It is essential to put effort into developing a service that reflects consumer's needs for shared houses to continue as a housing alternative model for young adults.

The Change of Dweller's Residents Stability on Residential Environment Improvement Projects: Focused on Apartment Housing Construction Method (주거환경개선사업으로 인한 거주자들의 주거안정 변화: 공동주택건설방식을 중심으로)

  • Residential Environment Improvement Project (REIP) which has started in 1989 and continued with 3rd government-supporting project in 2013 has lots of policy changes and related studies. However, the related researches have focused on residents resettlement into the project site, this paper is more interested in the residents stability than residents resettlement. So, this paper analyzes the changes of residents stability on the site of REIPs (with 3 groups of dwellers, removers and newcomers). We survey about understanding of those projects, each interior physical housing characters, housing cost, outside settlement characters. On the base of case analysis, we can conclude as follows: firstly, the residents are more young, higher educated, and higher income but not alter to household, barrier, occupation. Secondly, REIPs have some positive influences on physical conditions of housing and outside characters but negative impacts on housing cost. In case of newcomers, there are no changes of housing size and room numbers but higher housing cost, better outside settlement conditions.

Legal Issues and Improvement Measures for Refund Implementation of Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation in case of Housing Sale Guarantee Accident (주택분양보증사고시 주택도시보증공사 환급이행의 법적쟁점과 개선방안)

  • In the event of a housing sale guarantee accident, the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation shall be responsible for the guarantee by refunding the moving-in money unless there are special circumstances to the contractor. The Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation may refuse to perform the refund based on the Terms and Conditions Regulations Act, but disputes continue to arise between interested parties in this regard. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to study the problems and improvement measures for legal issues related to the implementation of the refund. First, the issue of guarantee effectiveness and scope of guarantee under the Terms and Conditions Regulation Act. Second, the problem of guarantee contract for conditional third parties of Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation. Third, the problem of the attitude of the existing precedents of the Supreme Court was examined. As a result of reviewing these legal issues, it was confirmed that the interpretation of terms and conditions according to the implementation of the refund is being interpreted in accordance with the principle of good faith, but according to individual cases, precedents can be divided into positive and negative judgments. In addition, despite the fact that the housing pre-sale guarantee is a guarantee contract for a conditional third party, it was confirmed that the buyer suffered damages in good faith through active disputes with the interested parties. Accordingly, the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation proposed an improvement plan for roles and cooperation items to meet the purpose of establishment for the stability of the customer's housing.

Studies about Housing Problems Perceived by Residents in Traditional Houses in Suzhou, China (중국 소주지역 민가 거주가가 지각한 주거문제에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to explore the housing problems and environment conditions perceived by residents in traditional houses in Suzhou, China. The empirical data is based on a questionnaire survey, which were from 100 residents in traditional area in Gusu area of Suzhou. In order to understand the traditional houses, on-the-spot investigation and literature review methods are adapted in this study. The main findings are as follows. Firstly, most of residents are middle-aged or older people, and their income is not high. Secondly, there are almost no cases of organizing independent workroom and storage room in their housing. Moreover, the main problems are mildew, theft, rats and cockroaches, etc. Finally, the satisfaction with the internal housing environment was appeared reasonable, but the external environment is unsatisfactory. Therefore, the external environment should be more considered in the Chinese traditional housing policy.

A Study on the Housing Competition Promoted by Cho-Sun Architectural Engineering Group in 1946 (1946년 조선건축기술단 주최 국민주택 설계도안 현상모집의 재고찰)

  • This study examined details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of housing competition promoted by korean architects group in 1946. The competition were held for the first since Liberation of Korea, and had practical purpose to construct houses to solve severe shortage of housing. This study found common trends of housing plan by prizewinning architects, analyzing architectural characteristics of prizewinning plans. Architects pursued western style living for renewed living conditions of people, planning precedent houses to put reception room at the heart of dwelling spaces and centralize them using entrance hall or corridor for traffic lines. Also, they arranged reception room and family room facing to the south and placed lavatory or bathroom inside of houses for hygiene. Kitchens were finished with wooden floor to keep same level of reception room and equipped with sink, kitchen table, pantry for convenient housekeeping. The result of competition become a basis of constructing houses by housing administration in 1947, and more important foundation for planning typical public houses of national housing corporation.
