  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the awareness of physical therapy and difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy. Methods: A total of 183 subjects who gave consent to participate in the survey at five universities in Gyenggi-do were randomly selected and the survey was conducted from February 2012 to July 2013 by a questionnaire consisting of 13 questions. Frequency analysis for the awareness of the general characteristics of physical therapy, anticipated cost, awareness of difference, and cross tab analysis for correlation with each item were used. Results: Participants recognized the academic ability, and the department for management of physical therapist licensing very well. The kindness and workmanship of physical therapists were average. According to their experience of physical therapy, most participants received a hot pack and electrical therapy at a local clinic and satisfaction with treatment was high. The percentage of students who recognized a difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy was high, however, they misunderstood only electrical therapy for physical therapy and they recognized the exercise method of physical therapy for rehabilitation therapy. No correlation of the awareness of difference was observed between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy and the awareness of physical therapy, experience, and anticipated cost, except the major of students. Conclusion: We found that people can misunderstand exercise therapy for rehabilitation therapy even though they have good awareness of physical therapy. Therefore, a physical therapist has to find the ways to express their identity while working.

  • Objectives: To evaluate the clinical use of Kupperman's Index, Menopausespecific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL), Menopause Rating Scale(MRS) by comparison with the Subjective measures of hot flush. Methods: The participants were 107 women (45-60 yr) who were not currently on hormone therapy, and had reached hot flash scores of 10 or higher. The evaluating indexes of this trial are hot flush score, hot flush VAS, Hot flush consistence time, sweating VAS, Kupperman`s Index, Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL), Menopause Rating Scale(MRS). Results: 1. The hot flush score, hot flush VAS, sweating VAS were significantly correlated with each other, but the Hot flush consistence time with no special relationship was found on Subjective measures of hot flush 2. The Kupperman's Index, Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL) and Menopause Rating Scale(MRS) were significantly correlated with each other. 3. There was significant correlation between Subjective measures of hot flush and Menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL), Thus Menopausespecific quality of life questionnaire(MENQOL) is considered the most suitable on hot flush related research. Conclusions: There was significant correlation between Subjective measures of hot flush and Menopausal scale, thus the use of various indicators are needed for the assessment of climacteric symptoms.

  • Purpose: To verify the relationship of SA2000E results and acupuncture treatment efficacy on postmenopausal women. Methods: Longitudinal analyze relationship of the SA2000E results and hot flush VAS score changes of a clinical trial participants in 2006. Results: Someone who has high Vaso-aging degree by SA2000E represented better hot flash VAS decreasing efficacy. And the diminution rate of hot flash VAS, after 1week from the 1st treatment day was 0.311(p=0.0001), and finally 0.672(p = 0.0396). There are no statistical differences between study group and control group. Conclusion: Clinical trial participant who has better Vaso-physiological function present more hot flash reduce efficacy by acupuncture therapy. Vaso-aging degree by SA2000E could be use as a predictor of acupuncture hot flash treatment result.
