For this analysis purpose, this study used the financial data of 100 hospitals which presented their financial statements to an finance-information company from 2004 to 2006. The analysis was done with PEFR(Percentage of External Funds Required) and Tangible Asset. The FEPR considered the retained interior fund relating to the investment types in the hospital industry. And the Tangible Asset was related to the possession condition of facilities and equipment. The EBIT rate(Earnings before interest and tax to sales) meaning the management performance and tangible asset turnover were used as the measured variables of investment effect. As the result of data analysis, it was identified that the tangible asset like the hospitals's facilities and equipment was not an agent significantly to influence on the management performance(EBIT rate), the eventual goal of hospital management. But, it was identified that there was some differences tangible asset turnover according to each hospital's main characteristics. And at targeting the all sample hospitals, it was found that the management performance(EBIT rate) had some significant effect on the retained earnings rate, a part of source of PEFR.

  • Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, human resources play a vital role in the health industry because the staff all has to confront a lot of stresses in serving the country and the people to overcome the severe contagiousness and infection of the virus. It is also the case of Family General Hospital, Da Nang (Vietnam). Therefore, the Hospital identifies talented personnel as a core resource in its sustainable development strategy. Researching on how to retain talented staff to serve the sustainable and long-term development of a private hospital such as Family Hospital is extremely necessary, especially when there are fewer large and modern private health facilities for the healthcare system in Central Vietnam compared to the North and the South. With the analysis of survey data and in-depth interviews from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives (via SPSS 20.0), especially the ANOVA and EFA analyses, and linear multiple regression (Generation 1 methods), this study aims to clarify the aspects that affect the talent retention in the representative Family Hospital. The lessons learned have been a good reference for similar private healthcare models in the process of bringing health-related services to a new level in the competition.

  • There have been numerous attempts at finding factors associated with profitability among hospitals in the Republic of Korea. Factors that have been shown to be related to hospital profitability have not yet been systematically reviewed. The purpose of this study was to compile and summarize published works investigating the factors associated with hospital profitability in the Republic of Korea. We searched Research Information Sharing Service, Korea studies Information Service System, Database Periodical Information Academic, Korean Medical Database, KoreaMed, and Google Scholar from 1980 to November 2013. In addition, we manually searched reference lists from eligible studies. Review of 20 peer-reviewed articles revealed that very few of the variables employed in the eligible studies exerted consistent association with profitability, with the exception of personal cost (i.e., employee salaries). Future studies should take our findings into consideration before conducting research on hospital profitability.

  • Background: Limited access to medical services causes problems in patients' health and life. Also, hospital closures cause concentration towards general hospitals, which leads to worsening National Health Insurance finance. Therefore, hospital closure is an important topic to be analyzed. Methods: This paper analyzed the factors that affect hospital closures using survival analysis with the data of 970 hospitals opened between 2010 and 2019 in Korea. The number of medical personnel, hospital rooms, sickbeds, and medical departments were used as explanatory variables. Results: The number of medical personnel and hospital rooms increased the survival probability while the number of sickbeds and medical departments decrease the survival probability. Conclusion: The results suggest that hospitals have economies of scale and diseconomies of scope in management.

  • Purpose: We examined the relationship between operating income and volume of medical services provided at general hospitals in 2018 according to characteristics of general hospitals and measured as operating income(net income) and volume(adjusted inpatient days) covered or non-covered by National Health Insurance(NHI). Methodology: Finance data from income statement reports in 212 general hospitals and the national health insurance claim data of these hospitals were used. The characteristics of the general hospital were divided into structural, operational, financial, and patient aspects. Operating income and volume were divided into covered and non-covered by NHI. Findings: The results showed high volume hospitals tended to be more profitable than low volume hospitals, especially in non-covered services. Operating income was more likely to be sensitive to non-covered services volume than to covered services volume. Practical Implications: It is necessary to understand the volume of services in non-covered, in order to obtain reliable cost information to be used for the fee schedule. Researches on small size hospitals(<160 beds) are needed, with a large variation in the volume of services and a strong tendency to compensate for the loss in the covered part in non-covered part.

  • The study aims to analyze the factors that shape patient loyalty, namely, by involving the service quality factor (SERVQUAL), hospital image, patient value, and patient satisfaction in private hospitals. This study was conducted in Makassar City, Indonesia, with a sample of 296 eligible samples from private hospitals. The sample criteria were patients with outpatient and hospitalization status. Then, this study developed 23 hypotheses to test the statistical relationship between direct, intervening and multiple-effect models. Problem-solving and research focus are carried out using a quantitative method approach with a PLS-SEM-based testing tool. The bootstrapping method is being used with the constant bootstrapping step to demonstrate the results of hypothesis testing; we find that the overall hypothesis has a positive and significant effect. The combination of testing models involving several variables shows that a patient's loyalty can be formed if a patient's satisfaction has been realized. Satisfaction can be realized if the value-customer has been felt by the patients. Therefore, the hospital image must be directly proportional to service quality. Service quality is the essence of service that directly affects customers; service quality is also the reason that shapes consumer perceptions in increasing rationalization and solid customer (patient's) decision-making.

  • This research aims to investigate the antecedents of career growth and its impact on employee performance. The research design is quantitative with a causal method. The sample used is 242 respondents working in different hospitals in Banten Province and were selected through the snowball sampling technique. The analytical method used to examine the research model is PLS-SEM. The analysis result shows that work environment and training have an impact on increasing career development and hospital employee performance. Career development can also directly be an antecedent in improving the performance of hospital employees, but only has a moderate effect in mediating the influence of work environment and training on the employees' performance in the hospital. Based on these findings, hospital management in Banten Province must create and maintain a comfortable working environment for employees, offer training specific to each employee's line of work to help them improve their abilities, and create a system for career planning that takes into account each employee's potential.
