Selection of Promising Forage Crops and Variety for Forage Production in Paddy Field 2. Honam region(Iksan) (권역별 답리작 사료작물 최대 생산을 위한 적작목(품종) 선발 2. 호남지방(익산)을 중심으로)

  • This study was carried out to select the promising forage crops for forage production in paddy field of HARI, RDA, Iksan from 1999 to 2001. The species of forage crop used in this experiment were barley(5 varieties), wheat(2), rye(3) and Italian ryegrass(IRG, 3). Stage of heading, milk and yellow ripe of barley were 26 $April{\sim}l$ May, middle May and late May, respectively. In milk to yellow ripe stage, dry matter(DM) yield of barley was $6.64{\sim}10.47$ MT per ha, and averaged ADF and NDF contents were $31.6\%\;and\;62.2\%$ respectively. Albori was the most promising variety among the barley). The growth of wheat was a little late compared to that of barley, but it seemed to be crop having higher forage yield md nutritive value. In milk to yellow stage, DM yield of wheat was $7.51{\sim}11.96$ MT per ha, and nutritive value of wheat was high(ADF $30.6\%$ and NDF $60.1\%$). Heading stage of rye was $25{\sim}27$ April, and it seemed to be suitable to harvest at heading to flowering stage because of heavy lodging after flowering. In flowering stage, DM yield of rye was 17.26 MT per ha, and nutritive value of rye was the lowest among 4 species(ADF $38.6\%$ and NDF $65.5\%$). Heading stage of early maturing IRG was 30 April and it seemed to be suitable for harvest at flowering stage of middle May in cropping system. In flowering stage, DM yield of early type IRG was 10.77 MT per ha, and averaged ADF and NDF contents were $31.6\%\;and\;59.2\%$, respectively. The results demonstrated that the promising forage crops for forage production in paddy field were rye, barley, early maturing IRG and wheat in Honam region. In Southern region, rye harvesting at early May was recommended when considered middle May of rice transplanting period, and barley(Albori) and early maturing IRG harvesting at middle May were recommended when considered late May of rice planting period. And also, wheat with high nutritive value and possibility for harvesting at late May were recommended in case of transplanting period at early June.

Selection of Promising Barley Cultivar for Silage at Paddy Field of Honam Region (호남지역 답리작에서 사료용 총체보리 우량품종 선발)

  • This experiment was conducted to compare the agronomic characteristics and productivity of barley at paddy field of Iksan (National Honam Agricultural Experiment) from 1998 to 2001. The most fast 50% heading stage date variety was Keunalbori, Tapkolbori and Sodunchalbori, but Kinssalbori was very late as 3th May. The average dry matter (DM) content of naked and hulled barley were 37.9% and 37.1%, respectively. Saessalbori and Naehanssalbori of naked barley showed the highest in DM yield by 11,260 kg/ha and 11,160 kg/ha but the DM yield of Kinssalbori was low by 7,530 kg/ha. And Milyang 92, Keunalbori and Tapkolbori of hulled barley showed the highest in DM yield by 12,730 kg/ha, 12,320 kg/ha and 12,300 kg/ha but the DM yield of Olbori was low by 6,660 kg/ha. Acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and total digestible nutrient (TDN) content of naked varieties was 30.3%, 60.8% and 65.1%, and ADF, NDF and TDN content of hulled varieties was 33.6%, 61.1% and 62.4%, respectively. And Tapkolbori showed the highest grain yield by 6,370 kg/ha. According to the results obtained from this study, it is suggested that "Milyang 92, Keunalbori and Tapkolbori" would be recommendable for fall sown barley cultivar for at paddy field in Honam region.

Distribution of Available Soil Phosphorus and Effect of Phosphorus Application on Appearance of Algal Waterbloom and Rice Yield in Honam Area (호남지역(湖南地域) 논 토양(土壤)의 유효인산함량(有效燐酸含量) 및 인산시비(燐酸施肥)에 따른 괴불발생(發生)과 수량(收量))

  • To estimate the suitable method of phosphorus application in puddled-soil drill seeding of rice, available phosphorus, appearance of algal water bloom, and rice yield were investigated in paddy soil of Honam area from 1994 to 1995. Available phosphorus content with different regions was the highest in the east-west inland region of Noryeong mountain range and the inland region of Honam area and it was the lowest in the Charyeong south plains region. Available phosphorus content was the highest in the alluvial plains. and it was the lowest in dilluvial terrace. Frations of phosphorus in Jeonbug series were high in the order of Ca-P, Fe-P, and Al-P, respectively. Algal water bloom occurred highly in 100% and 70% basal applications before seeding, and slightly in no-fertilizer and 100% application of 3-leaf stage in puddled-soil drill seeding of rice. Suitable amount of phosphorus application was 21kg/ha in the single cropping paddy field of Fluvio-marine plain, and rice yield was increased 6% at 50% basal application.

  • Different units of metrology were used in the Joseon Dynasty, such as Yeongjocheok, Pobaekcheok, Jolegicheok, and Jucheok. In many cases, Yeongjocheok and Pobaekcheok were of different dimensions depending on the region. Therefore, this study analyzed Jaseungcha Dohae of Ha BaeckWon to restore the scale of Hwasun Dongbok area in which Seokdang Na GyeongJeokyung and Gyunam Ha BaeckWon lived and made practical devices. The results of the analysis show that a universal Yeongjocheok of 30.6 cm was used.

  • The KTX, first Korean Highspeed train from Seoul to Busan, is scheduled to begin its passenger service in 2004, with improvement of existing railroad between Daegu and Busan and Honam region. This paper aims to suggest the best train operation plan and detailed diagram pattern so that the KTX could work effectively as much as possible. I suggest for instance, connecting direct train and local train, hub stations plan, multi-destination train, and improvement of fare system.

Technology Trends Related with the Natural Dyeing by Patent Analysis (특허분석을 통한 천연염색기술의 현황)

  • The trends of patents related to natural dyeing were examined in order to guide the development of natural dyeing into a high value-added technology. Total 181 patents data provided from KISTI were analyzed and following results were drawn. Korea had the overwhelming number of patents related to natural dyeing over Japan or United States of America from 1970 to 2007. In case of domestic, the number of patent applications were heavily focused on the metropolitan area in 1990's, but started to increase in the Honam region and Youngnam region in the first half of the year 2000 which indicated that the researches and the developments of natural dyeing were very active. In the case of foreign countries, most of their patent applications comes from the corporation such as a company while the number of patents applications from individuals overwhelms that of corporation in South Korea. Also, more of individuals' patent applications were denied than corporations' patents applications. The vegetable dye, a type of dyestuff which is a research subject for patent application, had the most research done above all other dyestuff.

  • The regional supply and demand for labor are different among the regions because of the regional disparity of the human capital and the industrial structure. Honam, Kangwon and Jeju province in particular has a more rapid change of the job search(labor supply), the job offer(labor supply) and the employed person according to the business fluctuations. The employed person of the capital region, Seoul in particular increased: though diminished the job offer and the job search grew. But the employed person of Youngnam and Honam province in particular decreased: though grew the job offer and the job search diminished. The employment rate and employment opportunity of all population group except the high-educated person are higher in the capital region than the province. The province has a low employment rate even in the managerial work and the professional work that the employment opportunity is high because of the lack of human capital.

Nurses' Influenza A (H1N1) Infection Control Performance and Stress at Hub Hospitals in Honam Region (호남지역 거점병원 간호사의 신종인플루엔자 감염관리 수행도와 스트레스)

  • Purpose: In this study influenza A (H1N1) infection control performance and stress in nurses were surveyed, to identify factors influencing stress for the nurses, and to provide basic materials for promoting infectious disease control by nurses. Method: The participants were 447 nurses who had worked at isolation clinics and/or isolation rooms in hub hospitals in the Honam region during the period of the outbreak of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus. Data were collected in February 2010 using self-report questionnaires. Results: The performance of participants from clinics was high for 'helping patients wearing masks', but low for 'maintaining distance over 1 meter among waiting patients'. The performance of participants from hospital rooms was high for 'putting a surgical mask on a patient going out of the room', but low for 'keeping patients' family out of the room'. The participants' stress was higher in those younger and less experienced nurses, those working at a hospital with 500-999 beds, those working at both isolation clinics and rooms, and those working at a clinic longer. Conclusion: In order to lower nurses' stress from working at isolation clinics/rooms for infectious diseases, we may need to deploy experienced nurses and limit their working days to five or less.

  • This study features an analysis of the socio-economic factors of ten cities on the Honam-line that affect the number of train passengers. The 3 main factors based on the principal component analysis were the population, the distance between two regions, and the area size of each region while the number of automobiles has been conventionally used instead of the area size of each region. A formula to predict the train passengers by the regression analysis was developed and showed a good agreement to the number of real passengers. When Honam highspeed railway is opened, the traveling time between two regions as well as the area size of each regions should be more precisely considered.
