비정상 열 하중을 받는 이질재료의 다중 크랙 문제 (Multi-Crack Problems for Non-homogeneous Material Subjected to Unsteady Thermal Load)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the time behavior of a multiple crack problems. It is assumed that the medium contains cracks perpendicular to the crack surfaces, that the thermo-mechanical properties are continuous functions of the thickness coordinate. we use the laminated composite plate model to simulate the material non-homogeneity. By utilizing the Laplace transform and Fourier transform techniques, the multiple crack problems in the non-homogeneous medium is formulated. Singular integral equations are derived and solved to investigate the multiple crack problems. As a numerical illustration, transient thermal stress intensity factors(TSIFs) for a functionally graded material plate subjected to sudden heating on its boundary are provided. The variation in the TSIFs due to the change in material gradient and the crack position is studied.

Computation of mixed-mode stress intensity factors in functionally graded materials by natural element method

  • This paper is concerned with the numerical calculation of mixed-mode stress intensity factors (SIFs) of 2-D isotropic functionally graded materials (FGMs) by the natural element method (more exactly, Petrov-Galerkin NEM). The spatial variation of elastic modulus in non-homogeneous FGMs is reflected into the modified interaction integral ${\tilde{M}}^{(1,2)}$. The local NEM grid near the crack tip is refined, and the directly approximated strain and stress fields by PG-NEM are enhanced and smoothened by the patch recovery technique. Two numerical examples with the exponentially varying elastic modulus are taken to illustrate the proposed method. The mixed-mode SIFs are parametrically computed with respect to the exponent index in the elastic modulus and external loading and the crack angle and compared with the other reported results. It has been justified from the numerical results that the present method successfully and accurately calculates the mixed-mode stress intensity factors of 2-D non-homogeneous functionally graded materials.

합성 Hydroxyapatite/Polyacrylic Acid 균질복합체의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Characterization of Synthetic Hydroxyapatite/Polyacrylic Acid Homogeneous Composite)

  • $Ca(NO_3)_2{\cdot}4H_2O$$(NH_4)_2HPO_4$를 사용하여 습식침전법으로 수산화아파타이트(HAp) 분말을 합성하고, 합성된 HAp와 폴리아크릴산(PAA)을 혼합하여 균질의 복합체 4종을 제조하였다. 합성 HAp는 ICP 분석으로 Ca/P비를 정량하였고, HAp/PAA 복합체는 TGA로 열적 성질을 조사하였다. pH 11 및 $60{\circ}C$에서 합성된 HAp의 결정성이 가장 우수하였고, Ca/P비는 1.35~1.49의 범위로 정량되어 Ca 결손의 HAp를 얻었다. HAp/PAA 복합체에서 PAA의 양이 증가함에 따라 비표면적이 증가하였다. 또한 HA/PAa 균질복합체의 $800{\circ}C$에서 무게감량은 3.5~9.6%의 범위로 감소하여 바인더인 PAA가 분해되는 것을 알 수 있었다. HAp/PAA 복합체의 FT-IR 분석결과, HAp의 $Ca^{2+}$ 이온과 PAA의 카르복실기 사이에서 이온결합이 형성되는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this study, WC-l7wt% Co composite powder for thermal spray was fabricated by spray drying method. The agglomerated composite powder had spheroidal morphology and the particle size distribution was 20~60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. WC and Co were distributed homogeneously. However, the strength of the spray-dried agglomerate was low due to the pores within the agglomerate. Therefore, the spray-dried agglomerate was broken down during HVOF thermal spray and the microstructure was inhomogeneous with many pores within the coating layer. And the decomposition of WC to W and $W_{6}$ $C_{2.54}$ was accelerated. The strength and flowability of the agglomerate were greatly improved by sintering heat treatment(110$0^{\circ}C$, 1 hour, hi atmosphere), and then the coating layer showed dense and homogeneous microstructure with well-developed splats. The hardness of the coating layer was H $v_{300}$ = 1072.2.2.

  • The multi-scale analysis is more proper and precise for composite materials because of considering the individual microscopic structure and properties of each material for composite materials. The purpose of this study is to verify the validity of using palladium particles in carbon/fiber composites by multi-scale analysis. The palladium is a material for itself to detect leaking hydrogen by using the property of adsorbing hydrogen. The macroscopic model material properties used in this study are homogeneous material properties from microstructure. Homogenized material properties that are calculated from periodic boundary conditions in the microscopic representative volume element model of each macroscopic analysis model. In this study, three macroscopic models were used : carbon fiber/epoxy, carbon fiber/palladium, palladium/epoxy. As a result, adding palladium to carbon/epoxy composite is not a problem in terms of strength.

알루미나-지르코니아 복합체의 제조공정 및 미세구조에 미치는 폴리머 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Polymer Content on Synthesis Process and Microstructure of Alumina-Zirconia Composite)

  • Two-component ceramic (alumina-zirconia) composites were fabricated by a soft-solution process in which polyethylene glycol (PEG) was used as a polymeric carrier. Metal salts and PEG were dissolved in ethyl alcohol without any precipitation in 1:1 volume ratio of alumina and zirconia. In the non-aqueous system, the flammable solvent made explosive, exothermic reaction during drying process. The reaction resulted in formation of volume expanded, porous precursor powders by a vigorous decomposition of organic components in the precursor sol. The PEG content affected the grain size of sintered composites as well as the morphology of precursor powders. The difference of microstructure in sintered composite was attribute to the solubility and homogeneity of metal cations in precursor sol. At the optimum amount of the PEG polymer, the metal ions were dispersed effectively in solution and a homogeneous polymeric network was formed. It made less agglomerated particles in the precursor sol and affected on uniform grain size in sintered composite.

  • For microelectronic circuits, the main type of failure is thermal fatigue. Therefore, the search for matched coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of packaging materials in combination with a high thermal conductivity is the main task for developments of heat sink materials electronics, and good mechanical properties are also required. The aim of this work is to develop copper matrix composites reinforced with carbon nanofibers to meet these requirements. In this paper, a technology for obtaining a homogeneous mixture of copper and nanofibers will be presented and the microstructure and properties of consolidated samples will be discussed.

Homogeneously Dispersed Silver Nanoparticles on the Honeycomb-Patterned Poly(N-vinylcarbazole)-cellulose triacetate Composite Thin Films by the Photoreduction of Silver Nitrate

  • The photocontrolled reduction of silver nitrate to silver (Ag) nanoparticles on honeycomb-patterned poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK)-cellulose triacetate (CTA) composite thin films was studied. The composites were prepared via the oxidative polymerization of N-vinylcarbazole with ferric chloride using different CTA concentrations. A honeycomb-patterned film was fabricated by casting the composite solution under humid conditions. Ag particles with a homogeneous distribution were produced by the composite film in a moderate CTA concentration, whereas aggregated Ag was obtained from the pure PVK film.

  • Mechanical properties of a composite mixed by components with known material properties are numerically predicted at various volume fractions rather than investigated through experiments. The properties, elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio, are estimated by minimizing the error between the static displacements computed from a model for the composite and those computed from a model of homogeneous and isotropic material. A finite element model for a composite is proposed to distribute different types of material components easily into the model depending on the volume fraction. Mechanical properties of a composite filled with solid mircospheres are predicted numerically through a sample study and the estimated results are compared with experimental results and some theories.

Hydroxyapatite/Gelatin복합체의 제조 및 압축강도 (Preparation and Compressive Strength of Hydroxyapatite/Gelatin Composite)

  • 합성 수산화아파타이트(HAp)와 바인더로서 젤라틴(GEL)을 사용하여 공침법으로 조성비가 서로 다른 HAp/GEL 균질복 합체 4종을 제조하였고, 이 균질복합체를 냉간정수압법으로 성형한 후 공기중에서 여러조건으로 소결하였다. HAp/GEL composite의 소결체는 XRD 및 FT-IR로 결정성 및 구조를 조사하였고, 또한 소결시편은 만능재료시험기(UTM)로 압축강도를 측정하였으며, 파단된 소결시편의 표면은 SEM으로 관찰하였다 HAp/GEL composite는 120$0^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 소결하였을 경우 부분적인 $\alpha$, $\beta$-tricalcium phosphate로 상전이가 일어났다. 소결체의 기공률은 1.2-30.2% 범위였고, 소결시편의 압축강도는 16.2-60.1㎫ 범위의 값을 나타냄으로써 기공율에 비해 높은 강도를 나타내었다.
