  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the effect of growth rate V and time on secondary dendrite arm spacing of cristobalite dendrites in $14.6K_2O-85.4SiO_2$ glass by means of x-ray diffractormetry optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy The scanning lectron microscopy reveals a two-phase layer of dendritic crystals and interstitial melt which grow from the surface at a constant rate. Based on this experiment secondary arm spacing is proportional to V-0.24 and dendrite coarsening during isothermal holding shows that the secondary arm spacing increases with increasing heat-treatment time.

  • This paper described the study of a sphene-pink pigment based on $Cr_2O_3-SnO_2-CaO-SiO_2$ system exhibits stable pink-red color at high temperature. This study is focused on the optimization of the synthesis parameter such as temperature and holding time for the formation the Malayaite crystal. Malayaite crystal is sensitively influenced by the synthesizing temperature, maintaining time and contents of substituting chromium. The crystal phases formed at different temperatures exhibits various color. The optimum temperature is suggested at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 2 h and substituting contents of Cr for Sn is 0.01 mole. The maximum substituting contents is 0.02 mole based on analysis results by XRD, FT-IR, SEM and UV-vis.

  • This paper considers single-product production and inventory management problem where cumulative demands up to each time period are mutually independent random variables(known) having continuous probability distributions and the associated cost-minimizing production schedule (when to produce and how much to produce) need be determined in rolling horizon environment. For the problem, both the production cost and the inventory holding and backlogging costs are included in the whole system cost. The probability distributions of these costs are expressed in terms of random demands, and utilized to exploit a solution procedure for a production schedule which minimizes the expected unit time system cost and also reduces the probability of rist that, for the first-period of each production cycle (rolling horizon), the cost of the "production" option will exceed that of the "non-production" one. Numerical examples are presented for the solution procedure illustration.cedure illustration.

  • The spot welding method has been used in the joining of structures, automotive body, railway carriage, aircraft, household electric appliances, precision parts etc., because of brief working, easy automation, available mass production, and convenience. In this paper, the effects of welding conditions on the fatigue life and the prediction of fatigue life based on fracture mechanics theory of spot welded joint were investigated. Fatigue tests were conducted with the tensile-shear specimens welded in the various current using cold rolled steel sheets. Fatigue life of spot welded joint was predicted and compared with experimental results. Using FEM(finite element method), we analysed the distribution of stress and the condition of deformation on the environments of nugget.

  • Effect of pre-treatment on the gas nitriding process of austenitic stainless steels has been investigated and the following results were obtained. Minimum pre-treatment time was decreased to 5min with increasing treatment temperature from $200^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$. Surface activation effect by the pre-treatment was maintained in the air up to holding time of 64hr, judging from the analysis result of gas nitrided specimens. The Depth of nitrided layer of STS 304 and 316 stainless steels were ranged from $5{\mu}m$ to $90{\mu}m$ at $440^{\circ}C{\sim}600^{\circ}C$. The X-ray diffraction intensity for austenitic stainless steels were increases as nitriding temperature from $440^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents an analysis of death rituals in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The death rituals become social events as a family and society members help each other to organize a funeral, hold Koran recital, and manage fundraising for the events. In addition, such rituals are also part of religious and cultural teaching that should be conducted by its followers. The rituals change from time to time in terms of fundraising management and holding the ceremonies. This paper, therefore, observes the changes of the death rituals from being sacred to profane involving social parties in the events and views the events as socially formed rituals. There are also economic practices in celebrating the rituals, where people have to gather funds and manage manpower in the event.

  • In mobile ad-hoc networks(MANETs), nodes are mobile and network topology changes very frequently. The mobility of nodes does affect the system performance. There has been considerable attention on the mobility models, however, most work is confined to the simulation or test-bed. In this paper, we propose an analytical method to evaluate the performances of MANETs such as the average radio range dwell time of mobile nodes, link holding time, and transmission failure probability considering the node's mobility. In the proposed model, MANETs consist of the multi-hop and multicasting routing paths. A simulation is done to validate our proposed analytical model.

  • Crosslinked Decree is an important 7actor to determine dielectric property of crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE) used for the insulation material in Power cables. Recently, though it is necessary to investigate electrical properties according to crosslinked degree as a Part of the whose characterization of cable. it is not examined closely. In this study. crosslinked degree of samples were measured according to temperature and holding time of crosslinking. electrical tree characteristics of these characteristics of these samples were analyzed by crosslinked degree and applied temperature that was chanced from normal temperature to operating temperature of power cables. As a result. when the crosslinked degree was low, dielectric properties were decreased and influence of temperature was increased. but the crosslinked degrees were high, initiation voltages of treeing were increased and dielectric properties were improved. It is proved that the optimum crosslinked degree was one of most important factor for aging time and residual lifetime of Power cable.

  • In this study, FT-IR analysis was performed by exposing cement paste to high temperature in order to characterize the change of hydration behavior of concrete structure damaged by fire accident. As the holding time increased, the Al-O vibration region increased due to the increase of Si-O symmetric Ca2(SiO4) and Brownilerite, and the OH stretching region tended to increase due to thermal decomposition of Ca(OH)2.

  • Some multi echelon inventory systems carry perishable products. The value of these product reduces as the period of time they spend in the system. In this paper We derive the necessary condition to determine optimal quantity, service level for a perishable product. The systems considered consist of two echelons and carry single item. To determine the optimal order quantity, the demand is assumed to be constant, the holding costs may be different in the echelons, and it allows no shortages. I assumed the price of product decreases by negative exponential function. To determine service level, following assumptions used in the model ㆍlead time is constant. ㆍdemand is normal distribution. ㆍthe product starts to perish at the second echelon. Service level is computed for different levels of lead times and for different variance of demands and for different price functions. The experimental results indicate that the service level in cost is a function of service level in demand and perishability of product. Results of the models exhibit that perishability and the age of the product are critical to determine the lot sizing and service level.
