Heme oxygenase (HO), the rate limiting enzyme in the breakdown of heme into carbon monoxide (CO), iron and bilirubin, has recently received overwhelming research attention. To date three mammalian HO isozymes have been identified, and the only inducible form is HO-1 while HO-2 and HO-3 are constitutively expressed. Advances in unveiling signal transduction network indicate that a battery of redox-sensitive transcription factors, such as activator protein-1 (AP-1), nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) and nuclear factor E2-related factor-2 (Nrf2), and their upstream kinases including mitogen-activated protein kinases play an important regulatory role in HO-1 gene induction. The products of the HO-catalyzed reaction, particularly CO and biliverdin/bilirubin have been shown to exert protective effects in several organs against oxidative and other noxious stimuli. In this context, it is interesting to note that induction of HO-1 expression contributes to protection against liver damage induced by several chemical compounds such as acetaminophen, carbon tetrachloride and heavy metals, suggesting HO-1 induction as an important cellular endeavor for hepatoprotection. The focus of this review is on the significance of targeted induction of HO-1 as a potential therapeutic strategy to protect against chemically-induced liver injury as well as hepatocarcinogenesis.

Dehydrocostus lactone (DHL) and Mokko lactone (ML) were isolated from Saussureae Radix, and their effects on heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression and hepatoprotection in the liver cell line HepG2 were investigated. DHL induced HO-1 expression and HO activity in a dose-dependent manner, whereas ML lacking one double bond property at 11 and 13 carbons on its own chemical structure had no apparent effects. DHL also induced Nrf2 nuclear translocation and enhanced antioxidant response element (ARE) activation which mediated HO-1 gene transcription. Pretreatment with DHL protected HepG2 cells against oxidative damages caused by H2O2. Interestingly, the hepatoprotective effects of DHL appeared to be associated with HO enzymatic activation, HO-1 expression and Nrf2 activation, because blockage of HO activity by a HO inhibitor and inhibition of HO-1 and Nrf2 cellular synthesis by small interfering RNA abolished heptoprotection afforded by DHL. Taken together, this investigation provides evidence supporting that Saussureae Radix is hepatoprotective against oxidative stress that causes abnormal liver damages.

HoQ (House of Quality) provides an effective tool not only to arrange and evaluate VoC (Voice of Customers) and VoE (Voice of Engineers), but also to link and combine VoC and VoE, thereby presenting explicit directions for quality improvement. There have been, however, few researches on the HoQ framework in the IT industry. The case study discussed here serves an illustration of the applicability and usefulness of the HoQ approach to website quality improvement. The proposed HoQ framework shows great potentials since customers needs are explicitly considered in the framework, and it helps website administrators develop better web services by providing guidelines for reengineering the website operations.

This study describes RT-PCR and in situ hybridisation protocols, and the immunohistochemical detection method that we have developed to detect and localise cells that express HO-1 in the skin. We found that HO-1 mRNA was absent in normal mouse skin, but after UVA irradiation HO-1 mRNA was expressed in the dermal fibroblasts, and strongly in basal epidermal cells. HO-1 protein was also induced strongly in dermal fibroblasts, and also in epidermal cells. In addition, the HO substrate heme was reduced in skin microsome at 72 hrs post UVA (when HO activity is high). At the same time, the HO products bilirubin and iron levels were elevated in the cutaneous tissue. Thus in addition to a dermal response, there appears to be an epidermal HO response to UVA in vivo that may be relevant for immune modulation by UVA radiation.

갓색이 진한 장안5호와 기존에 다포자임의교배법으로 육성된 대가 길고 두꺼운 특징을 가지는 대장1호를 Di-mon교잡하여 '대장3호'를 육성하였다. 갓색은 진회색이며 갓모양은 깊은깔때기형이다. 대길이와 대굵기는 각각 77.4 mm와 13.5 mm로 춘추2호보다 두껍고 길었다. 초발이는 4-5일로 춘추2호와 비슷하였으며, 생육온도는 $14-17^{\circ}C$로 조금 낮은 편이었다. 춘추2호와 비교하여 수량은 13.9% 높았다. 생육시 습도가 높으면 춘추2호와 '대장3호'는 대표면이 회백색을 띄기도 하였다. URP-primer를 사용하여 RAPD를 하였으며, URP primer #03, #08, #10, #11에서 '대장3호'와 모균주, 그리고 다른 교잡균주들과 동일하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 대조직의 물리적 특성은 깨짐성과 응집성은 춘추2호보다 컸으며, 강도와 경도, 씹힘성은 춘추2호보다 낮았으나 통계적 유의성을 나타내지 않았다.

The study is about 'Dap-ho', a kind of men's coat in the early, and mid period of Joseon Dynasty. The study examined the kinds, color, and fabric of Dap-ho from "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty". It also examined the characteristic, and the change of shape through excavated costume, and the period is limited until early 17th century. In "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", there is record of Dap-ho from King Sejong period to Gwang-hae-gun period. After 160 years, it appears again in King Young-jo period, and remains until King Soon-jong period. It was mentioned 168 times, from over 100 cases. There are 26 colors of Dap-ho from "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", and among them, green appears the most. Thin fabric, like Joo [紬], Sa[紗], and Cho[綃] was used often, and there are records of double layered, and cotton padded Dap-ho. The period when Dap-ho appears as excavated costume is almost the same as, "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty" and disappears after the decease of Dae-ho Kang(1541-1624), and Sun-un Yun(1580~1628). After in this period, Dan-ryung, and Jik-ryung changes into double layered clothes, and Jik-ryung functioned as the underclothes of Dan-ryung, instead of Dap-ho. The excavated costumes of Hwak Kim(1572~1633), and Eung-hae Lee(1547~1626) proofs this. But Dap-ho was called 'Jun-bok', 'Dugree', Que-ja', and 'Dap-ho' until the later period of Joseon Dynasty.

수환경 내에 존재하는 다양한 오염물질에 의한 어류의 영향을 평가하기위한 생물학적모니터링기법을 확립하기위해 2007년 9월부터 11월까지 아산호와 남양호에 서식하는 어류를 채집하여 어류상과 개체군연령분포, 외형이상, 장기부검을 통한 건강지수 등을 조사하였다. 아산호에서 채집한 어류의 상대풍부도는 블루길, 붕어, 잉어, 배스, 강준치 순으로 높았으며, 채집된 어종별 총 biomass는 잉어, 붕어, 배스, 블루길, 강준치 순이었다. 남양호에서 채집한 어류의 상대풍부도는 붕어, 동자개, 배스, 잉어, 블루길 순으로 높았으며, 채집된 어종별 총 biomass는 붕어, 잉어, 동자개, 배스, 블루길 순이었다. 붕어의 개체군 분포를 보면 아산호의 경우 10-20 cm 크기의 분포가 높았으며 남양호는 15-25 cm 크기의 개체분포가 높았다. 붕어의 암수 성비는 아산호 1:0.36, 남양호는 1:0.52로 조사되었다. 비만도지수(CF)는 아산호와 남양호 각각 7.2와 6.1로 조사되었다. 생식소중량지수(GSI)는 아산호에서 암컷 4.30, 수컷 1.45로 조사 되었으나, 남양호에서는 암컷 1.69, 수컷 1.70으로 유사한 결과를 보였다 잉어의 개체군 분포를 보면 아산호와 남양호 모두 20-30 cm 크기 개체분포가 높았으나 남양호의 경우 5-20 cm의 어린개체가 채집되지 않았다. 아산호 잉어의 암수비율은 1:0.42, 남양호는 1:0.59로 조사되었다. 비만도 지수는 아산호와 남양호 각각 14.6와 14.7로 조사되었다. 생식소중량지수(GSI)는 아산호의 경우 암컷이 0.16, 수컷은 0.93으로 조사 되었고 남양호에는 암컷이 3.46, 수컷은 2.37로 조사되었다. 외형이상을 조사한 결과 아산호 서식 어류의 1.8%만이 경미한 외형이상증상을 보였고 남양호에는 10%가 경미한 외형이상증상을 보였다. 건강도평가지수(HAI)는 아산호에 비해 남양호에서 건강도지수가 높은 개체비율이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

Prostaglandin $A_2$ ($PGA_2$)는 사람 골육종 세포인 U2OS 세포주에서 apoptosis와 heme oxygenase (HO)-1의 발현을 함께 유도하였다. $PGA_2$에 의한 apoptosis는 HO-1의 과도한 발현이나 HO-1에 대한 small interfering RNA에 의한 발현저하에 의하여 변동되지 않았으나 $H_2O_2$에 의한 세포사망은 HO-1의 발현 수준에 반비례하여 변동되었다. 또한 thiol antioxidant인 N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC)은 $PGA_2$에 의한 세포사망과 HO-1의 발현 증가를 모두 차단하였지만, non-thiol antioxidant인 butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA)과 ascorbic acid는 세포사망과 HO-1의 발현 유도를 차단하지 않았다. 이와 같은 결과들은 $PGA_2$는 산화성 손상에 의해서가 아니라 $PGA_2$의 thiol-reactivity에 의하여 apoptosis와 HO-1의 발현을 유도하며, HO-1의 발현은 $PGA_2$에 의한 apoptosis와는 독립적인 현상이거나 기능적으로 apoptosis 유도의 하부에 위치하고 apoptosis의 진행에는 기여하지 않을 것이라는 것을 시사해 준다.

The study examines factors affecting apartment prices in the real estate market of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The study uses primary data based on surveys of customers who have traded successfully, and collects transaction data from real estate trading companies that are the top investors in Ho Chi Minh City real estate market. The collected data include 384 observations in a total of 24 districts, detailing that each district surveyed on a minimum of four projects, each project carried out a survey on a minimum of four apartments. The survey collected 339 valid questionnaires for analysis and model testing. This study employs multivariate regression with the data of 339 observations. The research results reveal that five significant factors affect positively the price of apartments in Ho Chi Minh City - apartment area, toilet and bedroom, apartment floor, reference price, and apartment interior. Besides, there are three significant factors affecting negatively the price of apartments - next price trend, distance to city center, and potential building. From the results, the research proposes solutions in the pricing of apartments in the real estate market in Ho Chi Minh City - better information system, a real estate transaction index, and stricter management of small brokerage activities.

We have investigated the genotoxicity of STB-HO-BM using in vitro and in vivo system such as Ames reverse mutation test, chromosomal aberration test and micronucleus test. in Ames reverse mutation test, STB-HO-BM treatment at the dose range up to 5,000 ug/plate did not induce mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA102, TA1535, TA 1537 and in Escherichia coli WP2 uvrA with and without metabolic activation. Any significant aberration wasn't observed in chinese hamster lung (CHL) fibroblast cells treated with STB-HO-BM at the concentration of 12.5, 2.5, 5 mg/ml both in the absense and presence of metabolic activation system. In mouse micrnucleus test, no significant increase in the occurrence of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes was observed in ICR male mice orally administered with STB-HO-BM at the doses of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 g/kg. These results indicate that STB-HO-BM has no mutagenic potential under the condition in this study.
