Recently, as people have become more interested in health issues, their demand on forest trails for bush walking exercise has increased. The purpose of the study is to select barrier factors into forest trail for disabled using wheelchairs. As a result this, it has selected 31 barrier factors through the Delphi method. Of all the these factors, the information board of forest trails, showing the location of the trails, has indicated the highest score of importance at 4.50. Next, securing hiker' walking safety space has indicated an importance level of 4.44; both the slope of forest trails and the height of obstacles have indicated an importance level of 4.38; and the effective width of forest trails has indicated the highest score of importance level of 4.33. From these indicated levels of importance, the respondents of the Delphi method consider the safety of users of forest trail' as the most important factor while the physically disables are hiking. That is why these factors have resulted in acquiring relatively higher values.
Recently, the number of trail users in Korea has risen tremendously. Consequently, the cost of safety measures related to hiking is sharply increasing. Despite the safety cost input, the number of heart-related adverse events has been not decreasing. Therefore, this research aims to suggest the use of objective and quantitative trail use information in terms of course difficulty. The study site is Jirisan Dullegil (Jirisan Forest Trail). The currently available trail difficulty information either provides the difficulty rating in terms of 3 to 5 levels according to several empirical difficulty factors reported by staff who maintain the forest or simply states the distance of each trail. Thus, many trail visitors feel a great gap between the given information and actual difficulties they experience. In this study, we tried to assess the degree of difficulty by actual energy consumption. Calculating the volumetric oxygen consumption (VOC) by the distance and gradient not only makes possible an absolute rating but a comparison among the trails as well. Also, it is highly effective to simply describe the exercise intensity of a certain trail. Further, it is easy to check the VOCs' changes by switching the start-end points of the same trail. Providing the trail information of VOCs by sections and directions, we expect to prevent heart-related accidents.

The hardness and physical properties of soils were measured in hiking trails of Mt. Halla and Darangshiorum in Jeju Island to examine the characteristics and formative factors of an aquiclude induced by human trampling. The soil hardness, being generally the highest on trails, decreases outward and shows the lowest on adjacent slopes in a natural condition. The bulk density and solid phase also demonstrates a similar tendency, then implying that the aquiclude occurs in the central part of trails. Although the formation of a hard layer in trails is fundamentally attributed to human trampling, the environmental factors such as landform, lithology, soil and vegetation play a role in the occurrence of the aquiclude. Soil compaction varies with the gradient and location of trails which affects a transport and deposition of soil particles to produce a hard layer. Soil compaction also depends on the physical properties of soils including the soil texture largely affected by lithology. Vegetation is not directly related with the formation of a hard layer, but affects its dimensions through an enlargement rate of bare trails depending on the response and resistance of plants to human trampling.

Korean goral (Nemorhaedus caudatus raddeanus) is one of the endangered species in Korea, and the rugged terrain of the Soraksan National Park (373㎢) is a critical habitat for the species. But the goral population is threatened by habitat fragmentation caused by roads and hiking trails. The objective of this study was to develop a potential habitat suitability model for Korean goral in the park, and the model was based on the concepts of fuzzy set theory and multi-criteria evaluation. The process of the suitability modeling could be divided into three steps. First, data for the modeling was collected by using field work and a literature survey. Collected data included 204 points of GPS data obtained through a goral trace survey and through the number of daily visitors to each hiking trail during the peak season of the park. Second, fuzzy set theory was employed for building a GIS data base related to environmental factors affecting the suitability of the goral habitat. Finally, a multiple-criteria evaluation was performed as the final step towards a goral habitat suitability model. The results of the study were as follows. First, characteristics of suitable habitats were the proximity to rock cliffs, scattered pine (Pinus densiflora) patches, ridges, the elevation of 700∼800m, and the aspect of south and southeast. Second, the habitat suitability model had a high classification accuracy of 93.9% for the analysis site, and 95.7% for the validation site at a cut off value of 0.5. Finally, 11.7% of habitatwith more than 0.5 of habitat suitability index was affected by roads and hiking trails in the park.

Existing studies on the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-based CPS (Cyber Physical System) environment lack forest fire monitoring and forest fire reconnaissance using real-world UAVs. So, it is necessary to monitor forest fires early through CPS based on real-world UAVs with high reliability and resource management efficiency. In this paper presents an MFG (Misstion File Generater) that automatically generates a flight path of an UAV for forest fire monitoring in a CPS environment. MFG generates flight paths based on a hiking trail with a high fire probability due to a true story of an entrant. We have confirmed that the flight path generated by MFG can be applied to the UAV. Also, we have verified that the UAV flies according to the flight path generated by MFG in simulation, with a negligible error rate.

Modern people are exposed to obesity problems with convenient lifestyle, over nutrition, and lack of exercise. The greater the desire for longevity, the greater the problem of obesity. People work out in neighborhood parks, walkways, and hiking trails to improve their obesity. The municipal government encourages its residents to provide various exercise information by setting up signs on the promenade or hiking trail. However, conventional exercise signs do not provide various athletic and health information because they are built-in fixed type. Therefore, this study suggests scientific exercise management through smart health screen in accordance with the healthcare IT age. The IT-based smart health screen provides real-time calorie consumption, step count, and heart rate. The systematic and scientific exercise management provided by the smart health screen helps the locals to control the amount of exercise and strength suitable for each individual. In addition, walking without special cost makes it possible to manage health and obesity. We hope that our research will be of little help in resolving obesity.
Due to the 3 years and 4 months of corona, many things have changed throughout society, such as social activities, free movement, and lifestyle. One of them is the increasing public interest and demand for walking tours. Public awareness of health and leisure activities has increased due to lifestyle changes, aging, and urbanization following the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, and demand for walking tour services is also increasing. As of 2019, nationwide About 560 'Walking Trails' of 1,849 courses were created, with a total length of 18,000 km. In this study, in a situation where social interest and necessity for walking tours are increasing, studies related to walking tours are reviewed, and sustainable management plans for walking tours are proposed. To this end, the concept and research trends of walking tours were examined through literature related to walking tours, and in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 17 people, 8 visitors and 9 officials, with Ansan Daebudo Haesol-gil as the target. Visitors In-depth interviews with 180 contents were coded, and 147 effective contents were divided into 20 subcategories and organized into 7 upper categories. In-depth interviews with 101 stakeholders were individually coded, 96 effective contents were divided into 14 subcategories, and organized into 5 upper categories. After that, it was reviewed based on the contents organized through qualitative content analysis, and the Five implications were derived. The significance of this study is that the study was conducted on specific Haesol-gil in the suburbs of the metropolitan area. The limitation of this study was that more detailed investigations and considerations were not conducted on the positive and negative effects of walking tours on the Daebudo area. As a follow-up study, academic arrangements and case studies on regional regeneration through walking tours are required.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of hiking trails on forest landscape's fragmentation, based on which also to assess the landscape-ecology-based integrity by small drainage area by selecting Bukhansan National Park as a survey target. The results of effect analysis are as follow; size of forest patch decreased; the density of patch and edge increased; patch shape became complicated; the dimensions of core area noticeably decreased and proximity degree between patch increased after trail-building. In addotion, the assessment results of overall landscape ecology-based integrity by small drainage basin showed that the Bukhansan catchment area was highest making 3.7 point, while Gugi catchment area was rated the lowest making 1.6 point. Putting the above results together, it is necessary to prohibit the opening up of unnecessary trails and to make room for ecological restoration of damaged and disturbance area to their original state as nature goes for landscape-ecology-based conservation and management of forests.

The concepts of activity involvement(AI) and place attachment(PA) are useful for explaining the sustainable use of natural resources by humans. Although several studies have investigated the effects of AI and PA on environmental behaviors and found its implications, it has not examined the simultaneous effects of both AI and PA. Thus, the purpose of this study was to develop a typology of both AI and PA. This typology was used to explain the environmentally responsible behaviors of visitors. The study sample surveyed 587 users of the main trail in Namhansanseong Provincial Park The results were analyzed by frequency, reliability, factor analysis, cross-tabulation, T-test, correlation and ANOVA analysis. As a result, the typology identified four subgroups of hikers based on involvement in hiking and attachment to setting. Results also indicate that environmentally responsible behaviors do vary significantly across typology. In detail, general environmental behavior and specific environmental behavior were significantly different between the four groups. These finding suggests that PA seems to play a more powerful role than AI in relation to environmental behavior. While more involved and more attached hikers were more active in environmental behaviors, less involved and less attached hikers had a more passive attitude. In this respect, this study placed emphasis on the fact that the future resource management of tourism and outdoor recreation may be established based on its activity experience in certain place.
