  • In this paper, we highlight the development of a web application system. Its main objective is to provide pathway visualization functionalities for inter-cytokine relationships, as well as for other types of relationships, with a specific cytokine(s) of interest. A natural language processor is first used to extract information from a certain web page that concerns the cytokine(s) of interest. The results obtained are then further processed and then displayed graphically to the user. The system displays how the cytokine(s) of interest interacts with other cytokines and cells. Useful information such as the type of reaction and catalyst involved, if any, are also displayed. In addition, the system also offers functionalities for graphical manipulations of the visualized pathways. The system has been shown to provide better overview, and hence, improved learning to readers who are new to this field by virtue of accurate inputs obtained from the natural language processing module.

  • Of many viral causes of human cancer, few are of greater global importance than the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Over 250 million people worldwide are persistently infected with HBV. A significant minority of these develop severe pathologic consequences, including chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Earlier epidemiological evidence suggested a link between chronic HBV infection and HCC. Further, the existence of related animal viruses that induce acute and chronic infections of the liver, and eventually HCC, confirms the concept that HBV belongs to one of the few human oncogenic viruses. Although it is clear that chronic HBV infections are major risk factors, relatively little is understood about how the viral factors contribute to hepatocarcinogenesis. This review will introduce molecular aspects of the viral infection, and highlight recent findings on the viral contribution to hepatocarcinogenesis.

  • The purpose of this study was to look at the mediating effect of social support and interests on the relationship between characteristics of agricultural education program and word of mouth intentions. As a results of analysis of structural model, first, social support had a mediating effect on the relationship between characteristics of agricultural education program and word of mouth intentions. Second, interests had a mediating effect on the relationship between characteristics of agricultural education program and word of mouth intentions. The results highlight the importance of promoting social support and individuals' interests on the agricultural education program to increase the word of intention for agricultural education program. This eventually leads the revitalization and development of agricultural education.

  • A 12-year-old female Cocker Spaniel (7.5 kg of body weight) was presented for resection of a mammary gland tumor. During surgery, the heart rate was remarkably decreased due to a second-degree type I atrioventricular block. Atropine (0.05 mg/kg) was administered to increase the heart rate. Although the heart rate was elevated, atrial bigeminy occurred and persisted until the dog fully recovered from general anesthesia. These results highlight the possibility of atrial bigeminy caused by atropine administration during anesthesia.

  • The aetiology, incidence and management of type II endoleaks in standard infrarenal endovascular aortic aneurysm repair is well described. Far less data is available for thoracic stent grafting. We present a rare and interesting case of a type II endoleak post thoracic aortic stenting and highlight the aberrant anatomy that can cause this phenomenon in such cases.

  • Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is applied to analyze time series characterized with nonlinearity and nonstationarity. This decomposition could be utilized to construct finite and small number intrinsic mode functions (IMF) that describe complicated time series, while admitting the Hilbert transformation properties. EMD has the capability of being adaptive, capture local characteristics, and applicable to nonlinear and nonstationary processes. Unlike discrete wavelet transform (DWT), IMF eliminates spurious harmonics and retains meaningful instantaneous frequencies. Examples based on data representing natural phenomena are given to demonstrate highlight the power of this method in contrast and comparison of other ones. A presentation of the energy-frequency-time distribution of these signals found to be more informative and intuitive when based on Hilbert transformation.

  • This paper investigated application of fractional-slot concentrated-winding axial flux permanent magnet machines for wind turbines. Design criteria of cogging torque and voltage regulation was firstly proposed for this kind of application. Fractional winding has small cogging torque which is highlight for wind turbines, but slot leakage inductance would increase voltage regulation, which is an important performance index of generators. By varying slot opening, cogging torque and slot leakage inductance could be adjusted. In this paper, cogging torque and inductances were calculated by both analytical and finite element methods. Voltage regulation was studied by two-axis model under unity-power-factor load and verified by transient finite element analysis.

  • This study aims to examine the expressive properties of contemporary corset, and to develop designs and produce patterns for corset look clothes. Through these courses, it develops a pattern that may all meet the exactness, functionality and aesthetic aspects of a pattern and provides materials that may help create a corset look design in the course of actuallymaking a garment. Based on the elements mentioned above, a total of three (3) real works were developed and their patterns were created. The patterns include two (2) flat patterns and one (1) patterns using the draping method. The results found in the course of creating works and patterns are as follows: With new corset look designs, this study was able to artificially highlight the body and express the beauty of costume through revelation of the body In addition, it explored the possibility that the phenomenon that underwear becoming outerwear may be a new idea in dress designing.

  • This paper deals the study of a linear MHD pump solution used to eliminate and to avoid the dangers of the mercury appearing through pollution and contamination. The formulation of the magnetohydrodynamic phenomena is derived from Maxwell and Navier-Stokes equations are solved using the finite volume method. Simulation results highlight the performance of the pump such as the electromagnetic force, the velocity, and the pressure, the application of Ansys-Fluent software validation these results.

  • This study quantifies the dynamic interrelationship between the KOSPI index return and search query data derived from the Naver DataLab. The empirical estimation using a bivariate GARCH model reveals that negative contemporaneous correlations between the stock return and the search frequency prevail during the sample period. Meanwhile, the search frequency has a negative association with the one-week- ahead stock return but not vice versa. In addition to identifying dynamic correlations, the paper also aims to serve as a test bed in which the existence of profitable trading strategies based on big data is explored. Specifically, the strategy interpreting the heightened investor attention as a negative signal for future returns appears to have been superior to the benchmark strategy in terms of the expected utility over wealth. This paper also demonstrates that the big data-based option trading strategy might be able to beat the market under certain conditions. These results highlight the possibility of big data as a potential source-which has been left largely untapped-for establishing profitable trading strategies as well as developing insights on stock market dynamics.
