  • Recently, a multi-core system is studied for single terminal's operations on various service networks for mobile systems. Therefore, it is expected that mobile systems capable of supporting WCDMA, MC-CDMA, CDMA and WiBro would be developed. Mobile systems for supporting various service networks is able to be implemented on a single chipset via SoC(System one Chip) technology, thus a noble modem design proper for SoC technology is necessary. For high speed data transmission of 4G mobile communication services, OFDM scheme has to be applied. But, an OFDM signal consists of a number of independently modulated subcarriers, and superposition of these subcarriers cause a problem that can give a large PAPR. In this paper, a noble modem design for 4G mobile communication services and PAPR reduction method for solving the PAPR problem are proposed.

  • 802.11p WAVE is the next-generation wireless communication that can make Ad-hoc network communication possible for Vehicle-to-Vehicle. GBSR protocol, one of the 802.11p WAVE protocols, mainly focuses on improvements in networks that have a tendency to disconnect. However, it does not consider the transmission time and velocity of a packet thus, there is a disadvantage of there being a delay in the transmission velocity, in urgent situations like car accidents, emergency patients transportation and crimes. In this paper, we proposed A-GBSR protocol for transmission of a packet to mobile node which has a high speed through the improved beacon message and Adaptive Neighbor list Management that are considering of the GBSR protocol transmission velocity.

  • The IoT(Internet of Things) is based on the development of sensor technology and high-speed communication infrastructure, and the number of IoT connected to the network is increasing more than the number of people, and the increase is also very fast. In the field of defense, IoT is being deployed in various fields such as operations, military, base defense, and informatization, and the need is also increasing. Unlike the existing PC/server information protection system, cyber threats are also increasing as IoT sensors, which are vulnerable to information protection, are increasing in the network, so it is necessary to study the platform to protect the defense information and communication network. we investigated the case of connecting wired and wireless IoT to the defense network, and presented an efficient interlocking design method of the IoT integrated independent network with enhanced security by minimizing the contact point with the defense network.

  • As the information age comes out, the aspect of future war brings about the many changes in terms of war-fighting environment. Accordingly, information superiority and intelligence-centric warfare have been important and new war-fighting concept such as NCW(network centric warfare) have been turned up. This paper proposed all-weather core-strategy communications systems guaranteeing not only the real-time transmission of the information collected in a battlefield and expansion, automation, and rapidity of a battlefield but also broadband, mobility, survivability, and flexibility. The proposed military satellite communications system is classified into wideband mass capacity link, survivability, and the system supporting OTM(on the move) communication for the real-time transmission of battlefield information. This paper analyzed the essential operation concepts and core schemes of the U.S. Army's next generation system, TSAT(Transformational Satellite Communication System). Base on the analysis results, this paper proposed that the architecture of next generation military satellite communications systems for NCW have to provide the data rate, anti-jamming capability, network control and management capability which are optimally adaptable for the wireless channel environments such as jamming and interference and to support the variety of platforms like high-speed mobile vehicles, micromini devices, super-high speed unmanned aerial vehicles. Finally, this paper also proposed that next generation military satellite communications systems need the technologies such as the adaptable multi-antenna, laser link, and next-generation anti-jamming waveform.

  • Recently, in order to improve high speed data transmission and spectral efficiency in wireless communication systems, the study on the combination OFDM and space-time coding is active. Also, a solution to improve system capacity in multiuser systems is to use adaptive antennas. In a system using STBC, the signals transmitted from two transmit antennas are superposed at the receive antenna and the interference between two transmit antennas of a user occures. Thus it is difficult to apply the conventional beamforming techniques for single antenna to the systems using space-time coding. In this Paper, we present the MMSE beanforming technique using training sequence for STBC-OFDM systems in reverse link and evaluate the performance by using various parameters in TU and HT channels.

  • We propose a new approach to control a biped robot motion based on iterative learning of voice command for the implementation of smart factory. The real-time processing of speech signal is very important for high-speed and precise automatic voice recognition technology. Recently, voice recognition is being used for intelligent robot control, artificial life, wireless communication and IoT application. In order to extract valuable information from the speech signal, make decisions on the process, and obtain results, the data needs to be manipulated and analyzed. Basic method used for extracting the features of the voice signal is to find the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients. Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients are the coefficients that collectively represent the short-term power spectrum of a sound, based on a linear cosine transform of a log power spectrum on a nonlinear mel scale of frequency. The reliability of voice command to control of the biped robot's motion is illustrated by computer simulation and experiment for biped walking robot with 24 joint.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the hottest topic in information and communications technology (ICT) in recent years. Along with the advancement of AI technology, technologies such as big data, cloud, and high-speed wired and wireless communication are being applied to existing media areas in earnest, affecting all parts of the media value chain from content production to consumption. AI technology is now spreading across the media industry faster than any other industry. In the future, the gap between those with and without AI technology will widen, further deepening the polarization of the media ecosystem. Media intelligence, which combines media and AI technologies, is now perceived as essential, not optional. In this paper, we examine the current status of technology development and standardization by major domestic and foreign institutions on how AI is being utilized in the media industry. In addition, we discuss what technology should be developed to lead media intelligence.

  • Identification rate and time are very important in the identification of RFID tag, and the tag requires simple structure to use economically large quantity of tags. These factors make the MAC protocols of wired or wireless network environment result in different requirements. In the paper, we propose a method to apply spread spectrum scheme using orthogonal channel via Walsh function as the anti-collision communication system for the purpose of non-collision identification of multiple tags, and consider its property. The proposed system use two step identification. in the first step, collision is resolved via constructing to respond after specific delay time based on unique n, and conventional polling scheme follows in the second step.

  • The networked home is connected to the external world using a high speed network. The devices inside the house are connected using a wired and wireless network. Acquiring the user data is an essential step for designing the user interface in user centered design. In networked home, the numbers of use cases are exponentially increased because connected use cases are considered. Because the user data for networked home are too complicated, they are acquired and analyzed by a structured methodology. We surveyed 40 people to acquire the context data home and analyzed by 5W1H (Who, Where, What, When, Why, How). We established a framework for the user data using tasks, user, time, space, objects and environment. The data for home context was structured by our framework. This framework makes simple the home context and is helpful for user interface design in home network.
