The transient responses on arbitrarily interconnected digital transmission lines are analyzed by an efficient node discretization technique. Since the proposed node discretization technique offers an efficient means to discretize transmission lines, the transient waveform at any position on the arbitrarily interconnected lines is easily predicted. Dispersive microstrip multiconductor transmission lines arbitrarily connected are analized for generality. The derivation of frequency-dependent equivalent circuit elements of coupled transmission lines have been carried out by the spectral domain approach(SDA). The effects of variations of excited pulse width on the crosstalks of the high-speed microstrip coupled-lines are also investigated. It has been well known that the crosstalk spike level is monotonously increased when the coupling length and effective permittivity of substrate are increased. In this paper, it is found that the variations of crosstalk level are not further monotonous as shortening the exciting pulse width toward several picosecond. The results are verified by the generalized S-parameter technique.

Depending on the operating characteristics, track circuit is installed for the purpose of direct or indirect control of the signal device, point switch machine and other security device. These are mainly used for train detection, transmission of information, broken rail detection and transmission of return current. Especially, the return current is related to signal system, power system and catenary line, and track circuit systems. It is one of the most important component shall be dealt for the safety of track side staff and for the protection of railway-related electrical system according to electrification. Therefore, an accurate analysis of the return current is needed to prevent the return current unbalance and the system induced disorder and failure due to an over current condition. Also, if the malfunction occurred by the return current harmonics, it can cause problems including train operation interruption. In this paper, we presented measurement and analysis method at return current and it's harmonics by high speed train operation on the honam high speed line.
The extended 765 kV system may have severe electrical transients according to the interconnection of transmission lines and have long transmission line over 250 km. So we need to analyze the transient phenomena to confirm the insulation coordination which is designed for 765 kV project step I. In particular, this paper shows the analysis results of secondary arc extinction by HSGS (high speed ground switch) application. The EMTP/MODELS were used to simulation study of secondary arc phenomena. We had confirmed the TRV(transient recovery voltage) and rated current of HSGS which will be used in the KEPCO 765 kV system.
This paper develops channel reallocation methodologies for survival transmission networks, Any failure on a high-speed telecommunication network needs to be restored rapidly and a channel real-location methodology has an important role for the fast restoration. This paper considers the channel reallocation problems under a line restoration with distributed control, where the line restoration restores the failed channels by rerouting the channels along the two alternative routes. The objective is to determine the optimal number of rerouting channels on the alternative rerouting paths of a given transmission network, where the optimality criteria are the first, the last and the mean restoration times. For each criterion, the problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming and the optimal channel reallocation algorithm is suggested based upon the characterization of the optimal solution.
As VLSI technology advances rapidly, the operating frequency of digital systems becomes very fast. In such a high-speed system, there are many factors that threaten signal integrity. The noise sources in digital system include the noises in power supply, ground bounce and packaging media and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper will present a technology survey useful in the design of Gigabit interconnection systems. Some case studies have been constructed which show the lossy transmission line effect of skin effect. dielectric loss, with backplane connectors using the theoretical and practical conditions.

This study presents the design methods that will enable high speed communication companies to establish high efficiency optical communication network at a low cost. This study compares and analyzes CWDM and DWDM technology that transmit multiple optical signals through an optic core, and describes compensation of deteriorated optical signal, which occurs in long distance data transmission, through the stabilization of TX/RX terminal to enable long distance data transmission. CWDM based line access multiplexer increases concentration efficiency by eight times by providing 4:1 concentration subscriber network.

This paper shows a whole noise quality checking system for the new developed 6th speed automatic transmission manufactured in USA. Due to demand for manufacturing of the high NVH quality transmissions in the mass product line, some special checking system called EOL NVH is adapted. This EOL system is using vibration sensor and analysis technologies. Through adapting vibration analysis technologies and functions likewise RMS, crest factor, harmonics, peak, band and order tracking, various noise problems caused by wear, nick and deformations could be successfully detected and predicted. Therefore, automatic transmissions manufactured in the USA could get high NVH quality. The developing process described in this paper and results on EOL system will offer good guides to the engineers who built the next transmission factory.

One of the technologies which accelerate data transmission rate on the Internet is ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line), which enables the fast growth of the information age by providing infrastructures for the high speed Internet access. The network architecture of the ADSL service is the FTTC(Fiber To The Curb) which consists of fiber netwoks and copper based subscriber lines. The ADSL is a technology that utilizes the existing subscriber line efficiently. In the FTTC architecture, the major factors that degrade the quality of the ADSL service are the copper wires in the subscriber loops. This paper examines the characteristics of the subscriber lines that affect the high speed Internet access in deploying the ADSL services and also analyzes the mutual relationships between each line characteristic and its performance.
This paper considers a network restoration algorithm for all-optical WDM networks. As the increasing traffic and transmission speed, any failure on the networks will lead to loss of huge data and disruption of the services. Therefore, a network restoration algorithm is necessary for the high-speed all-optical networks. This paper suggests a distributed restoration algorithm for line or channel level failures under the dynamic rerouting. For the algorithm, some measures for performance evaluation are explicitly derived and simulation studies are exploited to evaluate its usability by SLAM(Simulation Language for Alternative Modeling) II.

This paper proposes a hybrid optical lines composed of single-mode fiber(SMF) and multi-mode fiber(MMF) for gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network(GPON) using a WDM method with a single light source per each channel, and reports the results of transmission performance the proposed lines. The transmission link uses a direct modulated DFB-LD for high speed downstreams at the optical line terminal(OLT) of central office(CO) and a low cost SFP type transceiver for low-speed upstream in optical network unit(ONU). To split or combine the transmission channels, wavelength MUX/DEMUX are used in the optical line section, and MMFs not longer than 1 km are attached to the SMF lines at the ONU side of the WDM-PON links. We have performed the transmission experiment on the downstream of 2.5 Gbit/s, and 1.25 Gbit/s, and the upstream of 1.25 Gbit/s, and 622 Mbit/s which are recommended by ITU-T G.984.2. The transmission margin and feasibility of the proposed links have been tested to be suitable up to 2.5 Gbit/s transmission.
