A primary study of Rail Station Selection and Train Operation Management Plan with Transportation Demand (철도수송수요를 고려한 정차역 선정과 열차운행방안 -경부선 서울~조치원구간을 중심으로-)

  • The purposes of this primary study are the selection of rail station and train operation management techniques for express-rail operation service at the convectional railway electrification. For these analyses, we used the KNR statistics and KROIS data of rail stations and train users by rail line. Therefore, we chose the important stations for express-rail operation of Kyongbu conventional rail line (esp. Seoul-Jochiwon section) through the rail transportation demand. and then, suggested primary operational management plan thorough the effects analyses of decreasing total travel time and increasing transportation demand by train speed-up. This study has some bounds and limits for proceeding, as it does, we excluded as followings: the conditionals of fate system, headways and train diagram, economic/financial analysis and technological assessment, and other railway technological infrastructures and a certain railcar specification, etc. . We propose to enlarge this study into a feasibility study of express or skip-stop operation service and compatible vehicle system decision considering with the best possible investment rail line, furthermore. in front of Kyongbu (Seoul-Busan) high-speed rail open in 2004, we have to try to progress the efficiencies of railway operation applying various train operation management plan.

  • The Korean railroad has developed as a foundation of nation's nucleus network. Nowadays Korea has entered into a new era because of the operation of KTX(Korea Train Express). As an introduction of KTX, the Korean railroad system has advanced Korean style high speed rail(HSR-350x), which is based on transfer and own technology. It is expected that the Korean rail road system has the leading design and production ability. Korea is planning to develop its own high speed railroad system until 2007. So the present task is to initiate a strategic export method for the development and value-added of Korean high speed railroad system. Furthermore this study proposes the administrative and technical policy for the basic technical research and creativeness predominance.

  • For high speed railway vehicles, we consider a vibration of flexible track/wheel system. It is very important to deal with the complex phenomena of high-speed vehicles that can be occurred in the vertical vibration of the system. From a viewpoint of multibody dynamics, this kind of problem needs accurate analysis because the system includes mutual dynamic behaviors of rigid body and flexible body. The simulation technique for the complex problems is also discussed. We consider the high-speed translation, rail elasticity, elastic supports under the rail and contact rigidity. Eigen value analysis is also completed to verify the mechanism of the coupled vertical vibration of the system.

  • The capability of pilot injection with small fuel quantity at all engine operating conditions is one of the main feature of the common rail system. The purpose of the pilot injection is to lower the engine noise and to reduce the NOx emissions. This study describes the pilot spray structure characteristics of the common-rail diesel injectors, solenoid-driven and piezo-driven type, with different electric driving characteristics So, three common-rail injectors with different electric current wave were used in this study. The pilot spray characteristics such as spray speed, spray tip penetration, and spray angle were obtained by spray images, which is measured by the back diffusion light illumination method with optical system for high-speed temporal photography. Also the CFD analysis was carried out for fuel behavior under high pressure in between needle and nozzle of solenoid-driven injector to know the condition of initial injection at experiment test. It was found that pilot injection of common-rail system was effected by rate of injection and temperature of injected fuel and electrical characteristic of the driven injector.

  • This paper explored an effective scheduling method for the Seoul-Busan High Speed Rail. It is important to decide train frequency influencing on scheduling method. Main factors to decide train frequency are location of station, social economic index, land use of station area and travel demand. In this paper, we focused on travel demand which is critical factor to decide train frequency. And we studied on standardized scheduling method. Simulation method is used to analyze the performance of explored method.

  • This paper describes the effect of the train ticket allocation methods. Two types of the allocation method, 'proportional to the distance between two stations' and proportional to ticket-demand', are compared. From the result of calculation, the letter case shows better characteristics than the former case especially on the scat occupation ratio and the regional equality or allocation.

  • Sound insulation performance is investigated on the corrugated panel used for a rail way vehicle. Random incidence sound transmission loss is calculated by using the equivalent orthotropic plate model. Analysis results on several kinds of corrugated panels are in good agreement with the measured data. The analysis method is applied to predict the sound transmission loss of the corrugated panel used for Korean high speed train.

  • In this paper, we introduce the software of the measuring system for on-line test and evaluation of high speed rail. This software should set and control the hardware of the measuring system, perform the analysis and calculation of measuring data and interface between users and the measuring system. For this purpose, three programs, such as a measuring program, a monitoring program and post-processing program, have developed.

  • In this study, we have analyzed the cost of korea high-speed rail project. The predicted cost in planning phase and adjustment data to 5th year are collected. Then, predicted cost is compared with adjustment in year/item/system base. We make a project history table for criteria to review project history and research & development activity. We have developed CBS(cost breakdown structure) and allocated adjustment data to them. It is shown that cost prediction related to research St development activity in planning phase is relatively correct.
