High-Speed Elevator Controlled by Voltage-Type PWM Inverter (전압형 PWM 인버터 제어 고속 엘리베이터 시스템)

  • To satisfy the requirements of a stable speed control, comfortable ride and precise landing in the high-speed elevator. The induction motor driving elevator is controlled by inverter using vector control method which calculates optimum torque to apply to the Induction motor. This paper describes the control system of high-speed elevator that consists of the voltage-type PWM converter with an unity input power factor and sinusoidal input current and the voltage-type PWM inverter with a precise speed control and sinusoidal output current. The test results of actual elevator are presented.

  • In this paper, To estimate the train exterior noise and environment noise which are occur when High-Speed EMU is driving with the speed of 370km/h, Estimated sound source about noise that is appeared during operation based upon noise SPL values. Based on aero-dynamic noise source and wheel-rail noise source, these were already used to the existed research, we have estimated each sound power about measured noise, and computed the sound source to apply on the High-Speed EMU, and also calculated the sound power in case of the maximum operation speed of 370km/h.

  • On account of small size and light weight, a high-speed machine is regarded as a key technology for many future applications of drive systems. In high-speed applications, permanent magnet synchronous motors have a number of merits such as high efficiency and high power density. Therefore, they are suitable for driving the air-blower of a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) where space and energy savings are critical. Particularly, a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) of them is mainly used as a high-speed machine. However, the motor has a fatal flaw due to a retaining can to maintain the mechanical integrity of a rotor assembly. The can results in the increase of magnetic air-gap length in the SPMSM. Thus, in this paper, an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is applied in order to drive the air-blower of FCEV instead of the SPMSM, and the experimental results of two models are compared to verify the capability of the IPMSM for high-speed applications.

  • In this paper, vibration sources of the BLOC motor are identified and the motor vibrations are reduced by structural modification. For vibration characteristic identification, vibration signals measured by an accelerometer when the BLOC motor is moving. These signals are presented in a waterfall plot in order to find the dependency of frequency components on the motor speed. It is found that main vibration source is BLOC motor test rig. From finite element analyses and some experiments, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the test rig exist in usual driving speed rang. To shift the natural frequencies outside the driving rang, the test rig is modified increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.

  • Hub BLDC(Brushless Direct Current) motor, called wheel-in motor is a outer rotor type high efficient direct driving motor which have a multi-pole permanent magnet type rotor as a driving wheel. This study shows a hub BLDC motor speed controller design methode using PIC micro controller to drive 2 wheels or 3 wheels driving body having hub motor driving shaft. The motor driver unit consists of six discrete MOSFET switching devices and the gate driving module is directly designed for high economy.

  • In this paper, the slope of the footplate is adjusted to compensate for the centrifugal force with a series elastic actuator (SEA) attached to the Segway's body to improve the cornering characteristics during turning. To ensure Segway's driving safety in the curvature motion, it is necessary to compensate for the centripetal force by tilting the footplate to generate inward force from gravity. When the footplate is tilted under the control of SEA, the vertical load on both wheels has been changed accordingly. The frictional force of the wheel has been changed by the change of the vertical force, which requires adjustment of driving torque to keep the curvature trajectory. That is, the driving torque has been controlled to keep the curvature trajectory considering the frictional force caused by the turning motion. Four SEAs are attached to the footplate to control the slope of the footplate and the real curvature motion has been demonstrated to verify the effects of SEAs in the high- speed curvature motion.

  • In this paper, noise source localization of the Korean high speed train was conducted by using delay and sum beam-forming method of a microphone array. At first, the microphone array having irregular configuration was designed and the resolution of which was analyzed from parameters such as 3-dB bandwidth and maximum side-lobe level. After the demonstration, the microphone array was applied on the high speed train and noise localization of the high speed train driving at 300 km/h was performed successfully.

  • A High-speed cutter, a kind of electric tool is studied to reduce its vibration and noise. The experimental modal analysis, the operational deflection shapes(ODS) and the time domain analysis(TDA) are used in the SMS software to analyze the vibration signals from an operating high-speed cutters under steady state operating condition. The second mode and fifth m,)do of the base plate coincide with the driving frequencies of the motor, And the vibration of the wheel cover is caused by the gap between the main wheel cover and the sub wheel cover. The structural modification for the base plate was done to reduce the vibration. The effect of modification is verified through the test.

  • This study uses the algorithm which estimates the magnetic flux using different models in the low speed driving area and the high speed driving area by the voltage-current model synthesis magnetic flux Estimator and, from this result, estimates the magnetic flux angle to achieve the stable speed control through all the areas from the low speed to the high speed drive. In particular, the current change and the magnetic flux change under variable load were estimated in real time in the low speed area and this made the control characteristic improved in the low speed area. According to this, even under variable load, the more stable simulation and experiment could have been completed using PI current controller and PI flux controller in all the areas. As a result, the outstanding speed control characteristic has been achieved.
