There exists high hazard when transporting LPG as well as using, storing, and producing. For small scale LPG consumer, retailers deliver LPG to customers via a truck loading many LPG cylinders. Suppose there occurred a accident during LPG cylinder transfer, this could result in serious damages to the life and properties in the near or neighbor of the accident spot. In this regard, we made a quantitative risk analysis to estimate the possible damages and the probability through the identification of accidents causes and the simulation of the possible scenario. In this study, we made the Excel & Visual Basic computer program to perform quantitative LPG accident analysis. The simulation showed the following results. In case of UVCE(Unconfined Vapor Cloud Explosion), the effect within l0m of the accident spot showed very severe structural damages and even the accident can break the window glasses of the area of 150 m apart from accident spot. In case of TNT corresponding probit analysis, after 10 minutes LPG leaking, $75\%$ window glasses of 40 m distance was expected to be broken. And $16\%$ frames of 20m distance, $10\%$ frames of 40m distance was expected to be collapsed.

A transmission tower was designed according to general and special load cases based on KEPCO Design Specifications. The special load case such as unbalanced load a cording to some broken wires has not been considered significantly. Therefore, this paper presents investigations on the stability and safety of main post members subjected to unbalanced load and design wind load. In this study, all cases totally considered. From the finite element analyses using LUSAS program, the stresses on the tower subjected to unbalanced load and design wind load were very high in comparison to the allowable stresses of the steel post member that was used. Some of the post member had higher stresses than the yield stress of the steel member. This paper also shows an example to improve the capacity of the post members using increased cross-section members. Based on the analyses results, when investigating the safety of the transmission tower, one must consider thenew design philosophy including ultimate strength of the member and reliability of the special loading cases.
Interstitial therapy using biodegradable polymeric device loaded with anticancer agent can deliver the drug to the tumor site at high concentration, resulting in an increase of therapeutic efficacy. 1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BCNU, carmustine) is most commonly used as chemotherapeutic agent for brain tumors. The design of implantable device is regarded as an important factor lot the efficient delivery of antitumor agent to targeting site. In order to control the release profile of drug, the release pattern of BCNU with the changes of various dimension and additives was investigated. The PLGA wafers containing 3.85, 10, 20 and 30% of BCNU were prepared in various shape (diameter of 3, 5 and 10 mm, thickness of 0.5, 1 and 2 mm) by direct compression method. In vitro drug release profile of BCNU-loaded PLGA wafers could be controlled by changing the dimension of wafers such as initial drug content, weight, diameter, thickness, volume and surface area of wafers, as well as PLGA molecular weight and additives. Drug release from BCNU-loaded PLGA wafers was facilitated with an increase of BCNU-loading amount or presence of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone)(PVP) or sodium chloride (NaCl). The effects of various geometric factors and additives on the BCNU release pattern were confirmed by the investigation of mass loss and morphology of BCNU-loaded PLGA wafers.

Recently, Point-of-care (POC) testing microdevices enable to do the patient monitoring, drug screening, pathogen detection in the outside of hospital. Immunochromatographic strip (ICS) is one of the diagnostic technologies which are widely applied to POC detection. Relatively low cost, simplicity to use, easy interpretations of the diagnostic results and high stability under any circumstances are representative advantages of POC diagnosis. It would provide colorimetric results more conveniently, if the genetic analysis microsystem incorporates the ICS as a detector part. In this work, we develop a reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) microfluidic device integrated with a ROSGENE strip for colorimetric influenza H1N1 virus detection. The integrated RT-PCR- ROSGENE device is consist of four functional units which are a pneumatic micropump for sample loading, 2 ${\mu}L$ volume RT-PCR chamber for target gene amplification, a resistance temperature detector (RTD) electrode for temperature control, and a ROSGENE strip for target gene detection. The device was fabricated by combining four layers: First wafer is for RTD microfabrication, the second wafer is for PCR chamber at the bottom and micropump channel on the top, the third is the monolithic PDMS, and the fourth is the manifold for micropump operation. The RT-PCR was performed with subtype specific forward and reverse primers which were labeled with Texas-red, serving as a fluorescent hapten. A biotin-dUTP was used to insert biotin moieties in the PCR amplicons, during the RT-PCR. The RT-PCR amplicons were loaded in the sample application area, and they were conjugated with Au NP-labeled hapten-antibody. The test band embedded with streptavidins captures the biotin labeled amplicons and we can see violet colorimetric signals if the target gene was amplified with the control line. The off-chip RT-PCR amplicons of the influenza H1N1 virus were analyzed with a ROSGENE strip in comparison with an agarose gel electrophoresis. The intensities of test line was proportional to the template quantity and the detection sensitivity of the strip was better than that of the agarose gel. The test band of the ROSGENE strip could be observed with only 10 copies of a RNA template by the naked eyes. For the on-chip RT-PCR-ROSGENE experiments, a RT-PCR cocktail was injected into the chamber from the inlet reservoir to the waste outlet by the micro-pump actuation. After filling without bubbles inside the chamber, a RT-PCR thermal cycling was executed for 2 hours with all the microvalves closed to isolate the PCR chamber. After thermal cycling, the RT-PCR product was delivered to the attached ROSGENE strip through the outlet reservoir. After dropping 40 ${\mu}L$ of an eluant buffer at the end of the strip, the violet test line was detected as a H1N1 virus indicator, while the negative experiment only revealed a control line and while the positive experiment a control and a test line was appeared.
Urushiol extracted from lacquer tree exhibits good thermal stabilities as well as antimicrobial andantioxidant properties. However, it has been known that the urushiol derivates bring out allergy. In this study, polyurushiol (PUOH) powders were successfully synthesized for the safe and convenient handling of allergic urushiol. First, the as-synthesized PUOH was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA), antioxidant test and antimicrobial test. And then, six different LDPE/PUOH composite films were prepared via a twin screw extruder system and investigated their feasibility to use as active packaging materials. Their chemical structures, morphology, thermal optical and antimicrobial properties of the LDPE/PUOH composite films were investigated as a function of PUOH contents. FTIR and SEM results showed that LDPE/PUOH composite films have a weak interfacial interaction and poor dispersion with a high PUOH loading. The thermal properties increased up to 3 wt% as the content of PUOH increases. Compared to the pure LDPE films, LDPE/PUOH composite films are more effective in the UV absorbance and antibacterial activity against E. coli. To maximize the performance of LDPE/PUOH compositefilms as the packaging materials, further researches are required to enhance the dispersion of PUOH powders in the LDPE matrix.

The purpose of this study is small scale coagulation module is developed and demonstrated through a lab-scale test. Recent as a sewage treatment rate increases, have heightened the interest in the necessity on the nonpoint source and developing a small processing unit has been increased. Coagulation sedimentation module in this study is additional growth of floc through swirling in the outside zone, reduction of microstructure floc number and the internal settling zone through vertical/level flow complex sedimentation method after the coagulation process precipitation method as an effective high separation efficiency can be divided was also assessed. Coagulation sedimentation module can increase the load factor was 4.4 times compared to conventional clarifier base on the same volume and surface area through vertical/level flow. In this study, this process was selected formation and maintenance of swirling and uniform flow distribution in the internal settling zone as an important design factor, to derive its FLUENT was used to characteristics of the flow model. Through the simulation of swirling, influent velocity, dimensions of external basin, hopper depth of bottom cone was determined and through analysis of velocity distribution, flow distribution detailed specifications are derived like as diameter and number of effluent hole. Lab-scale($120{\ell}/hr$) test results, influent of 300~800 NTU to less than 10 NTU without polymer feeding was able to operate in the 20minutes retention time(surface loading rate $37.3m^3/m^2$-day), and through analysis FLUENT the possibility of using design parameters were derived.

It were found that the heavyweight waste glass can be used as a construction materials including concrete from previous experimental studies. In this study, in order to evaluate the structural behavior of RC members using heavyweight waste glass as fine aggregate, a flexural behavior test was performed. And then, its results were compared with those obtained from non-linear finite element model analysis. From the results, when the heavyweight waste glass as fine aggregate in RC member, the area of compressive crushing and the number of cracks increased, however, the mean of cracking spacing decreased. Also it had reduced the ductility at high loading stage. For this reason, the same analysis method about the RC member using natural sand as fine aggregate did not predict the initial stiffness, yield load and maximum load on the flexural behavior of the RC members using heavyweight waste glass as fine aggregate. On the other hand, when it is analytically implemented the reduction of neutral axis depth due to developed compression crushing, the results of non-linear finite element analysis could be predicted the experimental results, relatively well.

In this study, finite element analysis was carried out through the finite element analysis program (ANSYS) to investigate the fire resistance of composite columns in fire. Transient heat transfer analysis and static structural analysis were performed according to ASTM E 119 heating curve and axial force ratio 0.7, 0.6, 0.5 by applying stress-strain curves according to temperature, and loading heating experiments were carried out under the same conditions. In addition, the nominal compressive strength of the composite column according to the heating time according to the standard(Eurocode 4) was calculated and expressed as the axial force ratio and compared with the analytical and experimental values. Through the analysis, As a result of finite element analysis, the fire resistance time was 180 minutes and similar value to the experimental value was obtained, whereas the fire resistance time 150 minutes and 60 minutes were derived from the axial force ratios 0.6 and 0.7. In addition, it was confirmed that the fire resistance time according to the axial force ratio calculated according to the reference equation (Eurocode 4) was lower than the actual experimental value. However, it was confirmed that the standard(Eurocode 4) was higher than the experimental value at the axial force ratio of 0.7. Accordingly, it is possible to confirm the fire resistance characteristics(time-axial force ratio relationship) of the SRC column at high axial force, and to use the experimental and anaylsis data of the SRC column as the data for verification based on Eurocode.

The Rio Grande Compact Commission, in collaboration with local water management entities, water users and universities established a three state Rio Grande The Rio Grande Compact Commission, in collaboration with local water management entities, water users and universities established a three state Rio Grande Salinity Management Program. The objectives of the Rio Grande Project Salinity Management Program are to reduce salinity concentrations, loading, and salinity impacts in the Rio Grande basin for the 270 mile river reach from San Acacia, New Mexico to Fort Quitman, Texasto increase usable water supplies for agricultural, urban, and environmental purposes. The focus of this first phase of the program is the development of baseline salinity and hydrologic information and a preliminary assessment of the economic impacts of salinity. An assessment of the economic impacts of salinity in this region was conducted by scientists at Texas A&M University's AgriLife Research Center at El Paso and New Mexico State University. Economic damages attributable to high salinity of Rio Grandewater were estimated for residential, agricultural, municipal, and industrial uses. The major impact issues addressed were: who is being affected the types of economic impacts the magnitude of economic damages overall and by user category and identification of threshold-effect levels for different types of water use. Salinity concentrations in this 270 mile reach of the river typically range from 480 ppm to 1,200 ppm, but can exceed 3,000 ppm in the lower section of this reach. Economic impacts include reductions in agricultural yields, reduced water appliance life, equipment replacement costs, and increased water supply costs. This preliminary economic assessment indicates annual damages of $10.5 million from increased water salinity. Under current water uses, municipal and industrial uses account for 75% of the total estimated impacts. However, agricultural impacts are based on current crop pattern yield reductions and, salinity leaching requirements and do not account for the impacts of reduced revenue from having to grow salinity tolerant, lower value crops. Actual damages are anticipated to be significantly higher with the inclusion of these additional agricultural impacts plus the future impacts from the growing population in the region. A more comprehensive economic analysis is planned for the second phase of this program. Results of the economic analysis are being used to determine the feasiblity of salinity control alternatives and what salinity reduction control measures will be pursued.
Mixture electrodes of a graphite having a good cycle performance and a silicon monoxide (SiO) having a high capacity are fabricated and their cycle performances are evaluated as negative electrodes for lithium-ion batteries. The electrode prepared by mixing the natural graphite and carbon-coated SiO in a mass ratio of 9:1 shows a reversible capacity of $480mAh\;g^{-1}$, 33% higher than that of graphite. However, the capacity deteriorates continuously upon cycling due to the volume change of silicon monoxide. In this study, the factors that can improve the cycle performance have been discussed through the change in the configurations of the electrode and the electrolyte. The electrode using the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) binder shows the best cycle performance compared to the conventional binders. The electrode sing the CMC and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) binder not only has almost the similar cycle characteristics with the electrode using the CMC binder but also has the better rate capability. When the fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) is used as an electrolyte additive, the cycle life is improved. However, the electrolyte with 5 wt% of FEC is appropriate because the rate capability decreases when the content of FEC is increased to 10 wt%. In addition, when the mass loading of the electrode is lowered, the cycle performance is greatly improved. Also, enhanced cycle performance is achieved using the roughened Cu current collector polished by abrasive paper.
