  • This study aims to examine secondary mathematics teachers' understanding of the levels of cognitive demand on mathematical tasks suggested in mathematics textbooks. The study also attempts to investigate whether the teachers are able to characterize the tasks accordingly and to change low level tasks to high level ones. For this purpose, we developed a survey and 50 secondary mathematics teachers participated in the survey. The findings from the data analysis suggest that 59 percent of the teachers selected high level tasks as appropriate for achieving the national curricular goals, but about 1/3 of the teachers identified PNC tasks as high level ones. The results also reveal that more than half of the teachers were not able to transform low level into high level tasks and only 4 teachers out of 50 were able to transform successfully. The teachers seem to find difficulty in transforming low level tasks into high level ones.

  • High-level synthesis generates a structural design that implements the given behavior and satisfies design constraints for area, performance, power consumption, packaging, testing and other criteria. Thus, high-level synthesis generates that register-transfer(RT) level structure from algorithm level description. High-level syntehsis consist of compiling, partitioning, scheduling This paper we study the partitioning process, and analysis the min-cut algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm.

  • The amount of the high level radioactive wastes in Korea will be increased up to 14,297 MTU about 2010 year. Most of countries adopt the concept of deep burial repository in high level radioactive waste disposal. Because the high level radioactive wastes are very toxic in biosphere and to human, the data verifing its never return to the biosphere are requisite for the disposal. Presently, the evaluating techniques for the high level radioactive waste disposal are not fully developed. Therefore, in order to dispose the high level radioactive wastes in proper time the R & D of it is urged in our country. The R & D and/or the international joint research programme for the disposal of high level wastes have already been proceeded. In our country no plan for its disposal has been prepared. It is the time that the direction of the R & D is to be discused seriously. The R & D for the disposal of high level radioactive wastes in Korea is believed to be focused on developing the pecular techniques such as in situ characteristics of groundwater flowage, and change of properties of in situ rock mass at thermal effects.

  • In this paper, we propose to investigate the existing EPL education related studies and to collect the total effect size for the improvement of high-level thinking through meta-analysis and to confirm the effect size according to various variables. So, we have objectively identified and generalized the practical effects of EPL education on the various elements of high-level thinking and high-level thinking. The results of the meta-analysis showed that 1) EPL is a teaching-learning tool that greatly improves students' high-level thinking. 2) Education based EPL has greatly contributed to the enhancement of creative thinking and logical thinking among high-level thinking. 3) Kodu, App Inventor, Scratch, and Dolittle was confirmed that the effect on the improvement of high-level thinking was great.

  • This study is to classify intonation types of sentence terminal in accordance with sentence form in Korean dialects. Intonation types of sentence terminal in declarative, interrogative (yes-no and wh-sentence), imperative, suggestive of Gyeongnam dialect are low fall, high fall, high fall, low fall, so are not distinctive by intonation, but distinctive by final ending morphemes. But those of Jungbu dialect are low fall, rise-fall and full rise, high level, low rise-fall. Those of Jeonnam dialect are low level, rise-fall and full rise, high level, high level. So those of Jungbu dialect are similar to Jeonnam dialect.

  • Although asynchronous designs have become a promising way to develop complex modern digital systems, there is a few complete design framework for VLSI designers who wish to use automatic CAD tools. Especially, high-level synthesis is not widely concerned until now. In this paper we Proposed a method for high-level synthesis of asynchronous systems as a part of an asynchronous design framework. Our method performs scheduling, allocation, and binding, which are three subtasks of high-level synthesis, in simultaneous using a transformational approach. To deal with complexity of high-level synthesis we use neighborhood search algorithm such as Tabu search.

  • High-level synthesis (HLS), which automatically synthesizes a register-transfer level (RTL) circuit from a behavioral description written in a high-level programming language such as C/C++, is becoming a more popular technique for improving design productivity. In general, HLS tools often generate a circuit with a larger area than those of hand-designed ones. One reason for this issue is that HLS tools often generate multiple instances of the same module from a function. To eliminate such a redundancy in circuit area in HLS, HLS tools are capable of sharing modules. Function-level module sharing at a behavioral description written in a high-level programming language may promote function reuse to increase effectiveness and reduce circuit area. In this paper, we present two HLS techniques for module sharing at the function level.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the level of stress, hardiness, and professional burnout of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses and to provide basic data for the qualitative improvement of nursing work achievement in the workplace. Method: The data were obtained from 129 ICU nurses through a questionnaire. Results: Stress showed positive correlation with the level of professional burnout and there was negative correlation between hardiness and professional burnout. Nurses in the group with a high level of stress, and a high level of hardiness reported a low level of professional burnout compared to those in the group with a lower level of hardiness (t=-2.60, p= .012). Nurses in the group with a low level of hardiness and a low level of stress showed a lower level of professional burnout than those with a high level of stress (t=3.51, p= .001). Conclusion: The results show that the high level of stress when coupled with a low level of hardiness of ICU nurses results in a high level of professional burnout. For this reason, it is important for nursing administration to support nurses to reduce levels of stress and the resulting burnout in ICU nurses.
