Performance Evaluation of the Low-cost, High-precision RTK Device RTAP2U for GPS-based Precise Localization

  • The need for precise location data is growing across numerous markets, and so is the number of affordable high-precision GPS receivers. In this paper, we validated the performance of RTAP2U, a low-cost high-precision RTK receiver that was recently released. Two positioning modes were tested: static and driving. The static test conducted Zero-Baseline Single-RTK and Network-RTK survey for 57 hours and 51 hours, respectively. For the driving test, Network-RTK survey was conducted using VRS services provided by NGII based on Trimble PIVOT and Geo++ GNSMART. The static test showed about 1 cm horizontal and vertical accuracies, which is very stable considering the test duration longer than 50 hours. The integer ambiguity FIX rate marked a solid 100%. The driving test result also reached a 100% FIX rate. Horizontal and vertical accuracies were better than 2 cm and 3 cm, respectively. Researchers can refer to this paper when considering affordable high-precision GPS receivers as an option.

A High Precision Line Detection Based on Local Area CCT Method (국소영역 내의 CCT법을 이용한 고정밀 직선 검출)

  • A detection method of high precision digital line within image is proposed in this paper. If we set the size of image to $N{\times}N$, in fact it is difficult to use the resulting values that the amount of computation is $O(N^4)$. Multiple algorithms are examined to reduced the amount of computation to $O(N^3)$, while suppressing the degradation of precision. How to detect line from the image processing, after stretching treatment of line segments extracted by Hough transform in the local area of an image is a great way to be able to detect several long or short line at high speed, but this method is slightly less precision in the detection of tilted line segments. In this paper, a line detection method improving the precision detection of tilted line segment is applied to the local area, thereby this method does not reduce the processing speed, while it is high precision method for detecting line segments. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method can detect a high precision line in a shorter period of time, compared with the existing methods.

Technologies to Realize High Stiffness Mechatronics Systems in Production Machines (기계장비의 메카트로닉스 고강성화 기술)

  • One of common challenges in designing modern production machines is realizing high speed motion without sacrificing accuracy. To address this challenge it is necessary to maximize the stiffness of the mechanical structure and the control system with consideration on the main disturbance input, cutting forces. This paper presents analysis technologies for realizing high stiffness in production machines. First, CAE analysis techniques to evaluate the dynamic stiffness of a machine structure and a new method to construct the physical machine model for servo controller simulations are demonstrated. Second, cutting forces generated in milling processes are analyzed to evaluate their effects on the mechatronics system. In the effort to investigate the interaction among the structure, controller, and process, a flexible multi-body dynamics simulation method is implemented on a magnetic bearing stage as an example. The presented technologies can provide better understandings on the mechatronics system and help realizing high stiffness production machines.
