제조 공정의 개선을 통한 백색 LED 칩의 성능 개선 (The Improvement for Performance of White LED chip using Improved Fabrication Process)

  • LED는 저 전력, 긴 수명, 고 휘도, 빠른 응답, 친환경적인 특성의 여러 장점을 갖고 있기 때문에 청색과 녹색 LED는 교통신호, 옥외 디스플레이, 백색 LED는 LCD 후면광 등의 응용 제품에 사용되고 있다. 여기서 LED의 성능을 향상하기 위하여 출력전력과 소자의 신뢰성을 높이고, 동작전압을 낮추어야 LED 칩의 고효율화가 이루어져야 하는데, 이는 에피택셜층, 표면요철, 패턴이 있는 사파이어 기판, 칩 설계의 최적화, 특수 공정의 개선 등의 기술이 우수해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 측면 에칭 기술과 절연층 삽입기술을 이용하여 사파이어 에피 웨이퍼 위에 GaN-기반 백색 LED 칩을 제작하여 그 성능을 조사하였다. LED 칩의 성능을 개선하기 위한 최적화 설계와 CBL(current blocking layer) 삽입 기술의 개선된 공정을 통하여 LED 칩 성능의 향상을 확인할 수 있었으며, 출력 전력은 광 출력 7cd, 순방향 인가전압 3.2V의 값을 얻었다. 현재의 LCD 후면광원으로 사용되고 있는 LED 칩의 출력에 비하여 성능이 개선되었으며, 의료기기 및 LCD LED TV의 후면광원으로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

가로등에 적합한 고효율 멀티채널 LED 조명 구동장치 설계 (The Design of High efficiency multi-channel LED light Driver suitable for Streetlamp)

  • LED 조명 구동장치는 150W 이상에서 효율과 발열문제가 있고 W(와트)수가 다른 조명기기를 교체하는데 불편함이 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티채널 LED 조명 구동장치를 드라이버 연동형 구조의 전원시스템과 멀티채널 구조형태의 드라이버 회로내장형으로 설계하였다. 본 개발품은 전원효율 93% 이상 및 역율 0.98 이상의 자동 제어 컨버터 구조로써 드라이버 연동형 구조의 고효율 LED 조명 구동장치와 자기보상방식의 자기최적화 구조의 드라이버다. 따라서, 본 논문은 THD 10% 이하와 기존 컨버터 대비 중량이 40% 이상 감소하였다.

LED TV 백라이트 소비전력 저감을 위한 스마트 디밍 알고리즘 개발 (Smart Dimming Control Algorithm for Reducing Power Consumption of LED TV Backlight)

  • In this paper, the new smart dimming algorithm which is mixed with PWM and PAM control method is proposed for reducing the power consumption of LED TV Backlight. The proposed technique is using the curve characteristics of LED forward voltage and current which is proportionally changing LED forward voltage as changing LED forward current. Therefore, each PWM and PAM control method has different LED forward voltage and current in the same brightness condition. The PWM control method adjusts the brightness of LED TV Backlight by only varying the duty ratio of PWM and constantly sustaining the amplitude of LED forward current and voltage. So, the level of LED forward current and voltage in the PWM control method is relatively high and constant regardless of duty ratio of PWM. On the other hand, the PAM control method adjusts the brightness of LED TV Backlight by directly varying the level of LED forward current. So, the level of LED forward current and voltage in the PAM control method is lowered according to the brightness level. For the above-mentioned reason, the PAM control method has the advantage of reducing the total power consumption of LED TV Backlight at the brightness condition of below 100%, compared with PWM control method. By implementing this characteristic to LED driver circuit with control algorithm in MCU, the power consumption of LED TV Backlight can expect to be reduced. The effectiveness of the proposed method, new smart dimming algorithm, CPWAM(=Conditional Pulse Width Amplitude Modulation), has been verified by experimental results.

하이브리드 태양광 LED 가로등 시스템 연구 (A study on hybrid solar LED street light system)

  • In line with the rapid economic growth of many countries, fossil fuel energy sources are also rapidly depleting. Therefore, the price is also rising rapidly, so it is necessary to develop new and renewable energy sources such as hydropower, geothermal power, nuclear power, wind power and solar energy to replace fossil fuel energy in the future. In this study, development of rotating concentrator module system, development of rotating module control control system, development of lamp and charge control controller, configuration and prototype production of rotating concentrating solar LED street light system, efficiency of rotating concentrating solar LED street light, and power production. The research was conducted in the order of evaluation of comprehensive performance tests such as consumption and consumption. As a result, the developed high-efficiency rotation-concentrating hybrid solar LED street light module system has a 50% higher light-gathering efficiency than existing products by tracing sunlight by self-developing a rotation-collecting module on existing solar LED street lamps according to the characteristics of Korea's topography. and the power generation was improved by more than 40%.

  • 본 논문은 조명용 RGB LED 구동 장치를 위한 새로운 방식의 Two-stage RGB LED 구동 회로를 제안한다. 제안된 회로는 PFC Flyback Converter의 다중 출력을 이용하여 LED 구동 회로의 전압 스트레스를 줄이면서 효율을 높일 수 있는 새로운 방식의 LED 구동회로이다. 제안된 회로는 Universal Input에서 25W 이상 조명 장치에 적용되는 IEC61000-3-2 Class C 규제를 만족하며, RGB LED의 개별적인 Digital Dimming을 사용하여 다양한 색을 구현할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 회로의 동작 원리를 설명하고, 시뮬레이션 및 RGB LED에 실제 적용 실험하여 제안 회로의 유용성을 입증하였다.

  • This paper investigates the reduction of RE(Radiated Emission) noise in a high power LED module circuit using PWM(Pulse Width Module) switching controller circuit. Poorly designed LED lighting module can experience the RE and CE(Conducted Emission) noise problem. This paper propose the reduction of noise source and improvement of EMI filter design in a high power LED lighting module. The experimental and simulation results showed that reduce the RE noise level effectively.

LED TV를 위한 단일전력단 전류평형 다채널 LED 구동회로 (Single Stage Current-Balancing Multi-Channel LED Driver for LED TV)

  • A single-stage current-balancing multi-channel light-emitting diode (LED) driver is proposed in this study. The conventional LED driver system consists of two cascaded power conversion stages, i.e., an isolation DC/DC converter and LED driver. LED driver is usually implemented with the same number of expensive boost converters as those of LED channels to tightly control the current through each LED channel. Therefore, its overall system size is not only bulky, but the cost is rather high. By contrast, the proposed LED driver system is composed of a single power stage with the DC/DC converter and LED driver merged. Although the current balancing circuit of the proposed LED driver requires only passive devices instead of expensive boost converters, all currents through multi-channel LEDs can be well balanced. Therefore, the proposed LED driver features a small system size, improved efficiency, and low cost. To confirm the validity of the proposed driver, its operation and performance are verified on a prototype for a 46" LED TV.

  • This paper describes analysis and calculation of line frequency ripple current according to output capacitor value and effects of LED connection in the single stage flyback converter with high power factor. The low frequency output ripple current delivered from single stage converter has been analyzed in detail and the method evaluating parasitic resistance included in LED has been provided. In order to verify the equation derived in this paper, the single stage flyback converter has been designed with constant output current regulation with DCM operation. Experiments were conducted with different LED load structures to analyze the effect of LED parasitic resistance on output ripple current. As test results, the calculation can provide guide line to select capacitor values depending on output ripple current and LED characteristics.

  • According to recent technological developments in high-power LEDs, the stage lighting is one of most important areas to apply power LED system. Moving light for color rendering of stage uses the RGBW(red, green, blue, white) color mixing method. LED moving light system needs to have a wide range of dimming control as enough to operate at very low power. Also LED dimming system should not be induced color-shift and flicker in camera. This paper is experimentally verified the LED Moving Light driving circuit of 200Watt level designed to satisfy the above characteristics which applied the DC current-controlled and PWM mixed dimming method.
