  • This study was based on an experiment that examines the manufacture and performance of fiber-reinforced cement composite panels. The conclusions were drawn after testing the mechanical properties and durability characteristics of fiber-reinforced mortar, and the mechanical properties and fire resistance of ECC fire resistant column panels. It was found that the fluidity of CEL fiber was lower than that of PVA and NY fiber. The amount of air increased slightly as the combination of fibers caused the number of fine pores to increase. It was found that the mechanical performance and deformability of high strength concrete could be improved through the confinement effect of ECC fire resistant column panels. Through continuous studies on the manufacturing and field construction methods of fire resistant column panels, a new PC method that eliminates weakness in the existing processes may be developed for skyscrapers.

  • This study reviewed the liquefaction reinforcement and ground reinforcement methods widely used domestically and abroad through construction method characteristics and analyzed the economic feasibility and reinforcement efficiency of each reinforcement method. The analysis results were used to evaluate the applicability of the appropriate reinforcement method for the liquefaction reinforcement of new and existing structures. As a result of evaluating the applicability of the reinforcement method based on the economic feasibility and reinforcement effect of each reinforcement method, the compaction method, which secures the construct ability by applying large equipment, is advantageous when reinforcing a new structure, and the low-fluidity mortar injection method (C.G.S method) and the high-pressure injection method (J.S.P method) are considered appropriate in the existing structure.

  • Recently, the interest and demand on free formed structure providing aesthetic value as well as functionality has been increasing. Formwork has numerous advantages such as high strength, convenience, accuracy and good quality of surface roughness. Nevertheless, it increases construction cost and period to build complex shapes. For these purpose, deposition construction systems such as Contour Crafting and Concrete Printing have been developed with active collaboration between university and industry by applying the rapid prototyping technology to the construction industry in USA and England. Since there has been no related research in Korea, the possibility of spin-off technology and its fusion cannot be expected. In this paper, design elements including mechanical system and control system related to automatic deposition construction system prototype for constructing a free curved structure without mold are described. As for an appropriate material for the system, fiber reinforced mortar was selected by experiments on compressive strength, fluidity, viscosity and setting time. By performing transfer and extrusion experiments, the possibility of the development of deposition construction system was demonstrated. Based on this research results, it is required to keep the automatic deposition construction system improve and extend it into the new application area in construction industry.

  • This research presents the results of the strength and drying shrinkage properties to study the effect of ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS), fly ash(FA) and calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA) for activated ternary blended slag cement. The activated ternary blended cement(ATBC) mortar were prepared having a constant water-cementitious materials ratios of 0.4. The GGBFS contents ratios of 100%, 80%, 70% and 60%, FA replacement ratios of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%, CSA ratios of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% were designed. The superplasticizer of polycarboxylate type were used. The activator was used of 10% sodium hydroxide(NaOH) + 10% sodium silicate($Na_2SiO_3$) by weight of binder. Test were conducted for mini slump, setting time, V-funnel, water absorption, compressive strength and drying shrinkage. According to the experimental results, the contents of superplasticizer, V-funnel and compressive strength increases with an increase in CSA contents for all mixtures. Moreover, the setting time, water absorption ratios and drying shrinkage ratio decrease with and increase in CSA. One of the major reason for the increase of strength and decrease of drying shrinkage is the accelerated reactivity of GGBFS with alkali activator and CSA. The CSA contents is the main parameter to explain the strength development and decreased drying shrinkage in the ATBC.

  • Recently, the applications of carbon fiber have been broader than ever when it comes to such industrials as automobiles, ships, aerospace, civil engineering and architecture because of their lightweight-ness and high mechanical properties. This study analyzed mechanical properties and flexural behavior of carbon fiber reinforced cement composites(CFRC) with different fiber contents and fiber lengths, and also impact resistance by natural drop test on mortar specimens was compared and examined. In addition, contents of carbon fiber(CF) were varied by 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0% and 3.0%. Fiber lengths was used for 6 mm and 12 mm, respectively. As a result of the test, the flow value was very disadvantageous in terms of fluidity due to the carbon fiber ball phenomenon, and the unit weight was slightly reduced. In particular, the compressive strength was decreased with increasing carbon fiber contents. On the other hand, the flexural strength was the highest with 12 mm fiber length and 2% fiber content. As the results of the impact resistance test, the specimens of plain mortar takes about 2~3 times to final fracture, while the specimens of CFRC is somewhat different depending on the increase of the fiber contents. However, when the fiber length is 12 mm and the fiber content is 2%, the impact resistance was the highest.
