High Xe AC PDP에서 전극구조와 유전체 두께에 따른 방전 특성 분석 (Effects of Dielectric Layer Thickness and Electrode Structures on High Xe AC-PDP)

  • In this paper, we investigated effects of ITO electrode geometry and dielectric layer thickness on the discharge Characteristic of AC PDP. As the dielectric thickness is decreased ($30{\sim}12{\mu}m$), firing and sustain voltage is decreased. Luminance and discharge power increase with decreasing dielectric layer thickness because of increasing capacitance between plasma and electrodes. Reactive power decreases with dielectric thickness due to reduced capacitance between sustain electrodes. For the high Xe test panel with small ITO electrode, luminous efficacy as well as luminance increase with decreasing dielectric layer thickness. This result suggest that high power density and small plasma volume is beneficial for high efficacy discharge.

Influence of gas mixing ratio on Xe spectrum for improving Luminous Efficiency & High Speed discharge images in AC-PDP

  • 본 연구에서는 2성분계 gas(Ne+Xe)를 사용하여 기체압력(p), 진동수(f)에 따라 VUV(Vacuum Ultra Violet) spectrum 147, 173nm 파장과 IR(Infrared) spectrum 823nm, 828nm을 Vacuum Monochromator(Acton-VM 507)를 통해 측정하였다. 휘도(Luminance)와 전력(Power)측면에서 Ne+ Xe 최적의 가스 조성비를 찾기 위해서 Xe의 혼합비에 따른 IR영역인 823nm, 828nm을 측정결과, Xe 4%일 때 좋은 효율을 나타냈다. 기체압력이 200Torr에서는 Xe(3P1)에 기인하는 147nm가 주요한 파장이며, 기체압력이 400Torr, 600Torr일때는 Xe(3P2)에 기인하는 173nm 파장이 주요함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 공간 방전 이미지를 전압 pulse 인가후 ICCD Camera(V-Tek)의 Ready time, On Time을 조절하면서 50ns delay로 관측하였다. 향후 실험계획은 실제 상용화되고 있는 혼합가스 He+Ne+Xe의 조성비에 따른 자세한 실험을 할 것이다.

유도결합형 제논의 가스압력 및 RF전력에 따른 플라즈마의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of Plasma According to Gas Pressure and RF Power of Xe-Inductively Coupled Plasma)

  • In this paper, parameters of electron temperature and density for the mercury-free lighting-source were measured to diagnosis and analyze in Xe based inductively coupled plasma (ICP). As results at several dependences of 20~100mTorr Xenon pressure, the brightness of discharge tube was higher (4,900 $cd/m^2$) than other conditions when Xe pressure was 20mTorr and RF power was 200W. In that case, the electron temperature and density were 3.58eV and $3.56{\times}10^{12}cm^2$, respectively. The key parameters of Xe based ICP depended on Xe pressure more than RF power that could be verified. A high electron temperature and low electron density with a suitable Xe pressure are indispensible parameters for Xe based ICP lighting-source.

  • The improvement of luminance and luminous efficiency is the one of the most important parts in AC-PDPs. To achieve high luminance and luminous efficiency, high VUV emission efficiency is needed. We measured the emission spectra of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) rays in surface discharge AC-PDP with ternary gas mixture of He-Ne-Xe. The influence of He-Ne-Xe gas-mixture ratio on excited $Xe^{\ast}$ resonant atoms and $Xe_2\;^{\ast}$ dimers has been investigated. It is found that luminous efficiency of ternary gas mixture, He-Ne-Xe, is shown to be much higher than that of binary gas mixture of Ne-Xe. For improving discharge luminous efficiency, we have studied VUV emission characteristics of ternary gas mixture, He(50%)-Ne-Xe and He(70%)-Ne-Xe with Xe concentration and filling gas pressure.

무수은 제논 EEFL의 전기적 특성 (Electric Properties of Mercury-free Xe EEFL)

  • This paper had mentioned about CCP light source application for increasing the efficiency of Xe lamp the mercury-free lamp. In order to increase the efficiency of Xe EEFL, we designed and manufactured the lamp used by mixture gas of Xe, Ne and He. Also, we have analyzed the electrical and optical properties with the firing voltage, sustain voltage, paschen's curve, wall charge, and capacitance. As a result, the firing voltage decreased by increasing the ration of mixture gas. and, It is owing to include the gas with high ionization energy. The firing voltage decreased in condition happening the penning effect, Because the ion of metastable state created from penning effect, Which can encourage the ionization phenomena. Also, the wavelength of 467.12 is increase. because of the energy transition in the wavelength of 147 nm. therefore, we can know about the affection of phosphor with UV emission properties. Through an experiment, Xe 100 % and Xe 75 % confirmed same spectrum properties by each mixture gas ratio. In the case of Xe 50 %, spectrum properties appeared Xe discharge and Ne-He discharge. That analyzed an electrical and optical properties. Therefore, confirmed that is excellent because properties of firing voltage, wall charge, capacitance in Xe 50 %, Ne : He = 9 : 1. We offered parameter in inverter manufacture and lamp manufacture by electrical and optical properties.

  • Nowadays, itis inevitable trend to use high Xe gas contents for increase luminous efficiency and luminance in plasma display panel. However, the increase of Xe gas contents causes the driving voltage, although the brightness is increase. In this paper, we study the characteristics of electro optical according to Xe gas contents and gas pressure. Electro-optical characteristics were investigated by the discharge voltage, luminance and luminous efficacy measurements, respectively. With some increasing Xe gas contents and pressure, the electro-optical properties increased. However, the characteristics of electro-optical begin to be saturated, when too high increased Xe gas contents and pressure.

The Performance of AC PDP with Grooved Dielectric Structure in High Xe Contents

  • We reported an AC PDP structure with grooved front panel dielectric layer. The structure exhibits low breakdown voltage, better luminance, and better endurance to crosstalk in high Xe contents. It also shows less luminous efficacy then conventional structure because of the thinner dielectric layer, but we can apply the higher Xe contents to the grooved dielectric structure, which results in the higher luminous efficacy. We made experiments with the Xe contents from 4 to16% and total gas pressure from 400 to 600Torr. The grooved dielectric structure shows the improvement of 20% luminous efficacy and 17% luminance. The firing voltages lower about 40V at 600Torr and Xe 12, 16%. The discharge characteristics of grooved dielectric structure are verified also with 2D simulation.

Y 제올라이트내에서 $^{129}Xe$ 핵자기 공명의 화학적 이동을 근거로 한 알칼리 토금속 양이온의 Xe 흡착 현상 연구 (Study of Xenon Adsorption on Alkaline-Earth Cation in Y Zeolite Based on Chemical Shift in $^{129}Xe$ NMR Spectrum)

  • 알칼리 토금속 양이온을 함유하고 있는 Y 제올라이트와 Xe 간의 상호 작용을 이해하기 위하여 Xe의 흡착과 $^{129}Xe$ 핵자기 공명(NMR) 분광법을 이용하였다. 고순도의 NaY 제올라이트 시료를 합성하여 여기에 $Ca^{2+}$$Ba^{2+}$를 각각 이온 교환시켜서 CaY와 BaY 제올라이트 시료들을 얻었다. 부피 흡착 실험방법에 따라서 260∼320 K 사이에서 이 시료들의 Xe 흡착 등온선을 측정하였으며 296 K에서 $^{129}Xe$ NMR의 화학적 이동을 측정하였다. 이 시료들에 흡착된 Xe 기체가 제올라이트 표면과 알칼리 토금속 이온들로 구성된 흡착자리들 사이를 매우 빠르게 움직인다고 가정하였을 때 Xe의 화학적 이동을 정량적으로 설명할 수 있었다. 이 결과 알칼리 토금속 이온들이 $Na^+$ 이온이나 제올라이트 골격 표면보다도 Xe을 훨씬 더 강하게 흡착한다는 것을 의미한다. 이 연구에서는 이와 같은 흡착 세기의 차이를 이용하여 Xe 흡착 등온선을 분석하면 Y 제올라이트 수퍼케이지 속에 존재하는 알칼리 토금속 이온의 갯수를 구할 수 있다는 사실을 밝혀내었다.

  • In order to realize the PDP that is better than CRT TV, high luminance and high efficient PDP panel should be fabricated. In order to meet these conditions it is inevitable trend to use high Xe% gas working gas. In this paper, we studied the relationships between the static margin, the discharge delay and jitter of PDP and Xe% in Ne gas.
