The continuing need for more compact and reliable switching power supplies have aroused a renewed interest in a well founded control technique the Magnetic Amplifier(Magamp). Magamp have some advantages of higher power density, simple control circuit, good regulation, high frequency and high performance. The control method with magamp become attractive solutions for high current post regulated output applications. In this study, it is proposed that the magamp technique in flyback converters with multiple output windings. Operation principle of the proposed approach is described and design guidelines are provided. Experimental verifications on 50W multiple output flyback converter are conducted. Simulations and experimental results show that the proposed approach is high efficiency and voltage regulation of the auxiliary output is excellent.

The application areas of traditional push-pull converters are limited because the voltage stress of switches is high (twice of the input voltage). But the push - pull converter topology is suitable for unregulated low-voltage to high-voltage power conversion such as the fuel cell. This paper presents a novel power converter structure that is very suitable for the DC/DC converter in fuel cell systems. Based on this structure, a ZVS- ZCS push-pull converter is proposed. The switches of the proposed push-pull converter can operate under ZVS or ZCS condition with the help of a new passive clamping circuit. The passive clamping techniques solves the voltage overshoot problem. Because the buck converter circuit operates at twice the synchronous switching frequency of the push-pull converter, the peak current in the current-fed inductor and transformer is reduced. The operation principle of the proposed converter is analyzed and verified by simulations and experimental results. A 1 kW DC/DC converter was implemented with DSP TMS320F2812, from which experimental results have shown that efficiency improvement and surge suppression can be achieved effectively.
In this paper, a novel high gain bidirectional modular dc-dc converter (BMC) with unipolar and bipolar structures for dc network interconnections is proposed. When compared with traditional dc grid-connecting converters, the proposed converter can achieve a high voltage gain with a simple modular transformerless structure. A sub-modular structure for the BMC is proposed to eliminate the unbalanced current stress between the different power units (levels) in the BMC. This can realize current sharing and standardized production and assembling. In addition, phase-interval operation is introduced to the sub-modules to realize low voltage and current ripple in both sides of the converter. Furthermore, two types of bipolar topologies of the sub-modular BMC were proposed to extend its application in bipolar dc network connections. In addition, the control system was optimized for grid-connection applications by providing various control strategies. Finally, simulations of a 3-level unipolar sub-modular BMC and a 4-level bipolar sub-modular BMC were conducted, and a 1-kW experimental 3-level unipolar prototype was developed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

This paper presents two new circuit topologies of DC bus lineside active edge resonant snubber assisted soft-switching PWM full-bridge DC-DC converter acceptable for either utility AC 200V-rms or AC 400V-rms input voltage source. One topology of proposed DC-DC converters is composed of a typical voltage source-fed full-bridge high frequency PWM inverter using DC busline side series power semiconductor switching devices with the aid of a parallel capacitive lossless snubber. All the active power switches in the full-bridge arms and DC busline can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutations and the total turn-off switching power losses of all active switches can be reduced for high-frequency switching action. It is proved that the more the switching frequency of full-bridge soft switching inverter increases, the more soft-switching PWM DC-DC converter with a hish frequency transformer link has remarkable advantages for its efficiency and power density as compared with the conventional hard-switching PWM inverter type DC-DC converter
For low-power high-frequency LED driver applications in small form factor mobile products, a high-efficiency boundary conduction mode tapped-inductor boost converter is proposed. In the proposed converter, the switch and the diode achieve soft-switching, the diode reverse-recovery is alleviated, and the switching frequency is very insensitive to output voltage variations. The circuit is quantitatively characterized, and the design guidelines are presented. Experimental results from an LED backlight driver prototype for a 14 inch notebook computer are also presented.

Power MOSFET and Power IGBT is develop in power savings, high efficiency, small size, high reliability, fast switching, low noise. Power MOSFET can be used high-speed switching transistors devices. Power MOSFET is devices the voltage-driven approach switching devices are design to handle on large power, power supplies, converters. In this paper, design the 80V MOSFET Planar Gate type, and design the Trench Gate type for realization of low on-resistance. For both structures, by comparing and analyzing the results of the simulation and characterization.
Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) have emerged as the most promising topology for high and medium voltage applications for the coming years. However, one particular negative characteristic of MMCs is the existence of circulating current, which contains a dc component and a series of low-frequency even-order ac harmonics. If not suppressed, these ac harmonics will distort the arm currents, increase the power loses, and cause higher current stresses on the semiconductor devices. Repetitive control (RC) is well known due to its distinctive capabilities in tracking periodic signals and eliminating periodic errors. In this paper, a novel circulating current control scheme base on RC is proposed to effectively track the dc component and to restrain the low-frequency ac harmonics. The integrating function is inherently embedded in the RC controller. Therefore, the proposed circulating current control only parallels the RC controller with a proportional controller. Thus, conflicts between the RC controller and the traditional proportional integral (PI) controller can be avoided. The design methodologies of the RC controller and a stability analysis are also introduced. The validity of the proposed circulating current control approach has been verified by simulation and experimental results based on a three-phase MMC downscaled prototype.
This paper proposes a parallel control method of a modular DC/DC converter for electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The EV chargers have been increasing the power capacity using modular converters. There are output current imbalances between the modules, which are caused by the difference of the impedance, delay of the gate driver, and error of the sensors. The conventional strategies for the equal distribution of the output current cause the voltage drop or the high volume and cost of the converters. Therefore, the proposed parallel control strategy effectively balances the output current of modules using a current compensation method. The proposed strategy is verified by simulations. Additional experimental results will be added under various conditions.

In the dissertation, a power conversion system for fuel cell is composed of a PWM inverter with LC filter in order to convert fuel cell voltage to a single phase 220[V]. In addition, new insulated DC-DC converters are proposed in order that fuel cell voltage is boosted to 380[V]. In this paper, it requires smaller components than existing converters, which makes easy control. The proposed DC-DC converter controls output power by the adjustment of phase-shift width using switch $S_5\;and\;S_6$ in the secondary switch which provides 93-97[%] efficiency in the wide range of output voltage. Fuel cell simulator is implemented to show similar output characteristics to actual fuel cell. Appropriate dead time td enables soft switching to the range where the peak value of excitation current in a high frequency transformer is in accordance with current in the primary circuit. Moreover, appropriate setting to serial inductance La reduces communication loss arisen at light-load generator and serge voltage arisen at a secondary switch and serial diode. Finally, TMS320C31 board and EPLD using PWM switching technique to act a single phase full-bridge inverter which is planed to make alternating current suitable for household

An LED converter used to operate an LED with high efficiency and long lifespan, activates an LED by keeping voltage and current constant. In spite of voltage drop by LED's overheating and over-voltage by damage of a power line and by circuit problem, most existing LED converters supply unchanged constant voltage and current to the LED. Eventually, LED is out of order because of over-voltage or over-current. To avoid the breakdown of an LED by over-voltage and over-current, we propose a new scheme which deactivate the PWM circuit in the event of over-current generating. The PWM circuit operates below the pre-determined level of current. While the over-voltage is generated in PWM circuit, the feedback circuit makes the PWM circuit stopped and therefore prevents LED from being damaged by over-voltage and over-current.
