Ternary blended concrete(TBC), which contains both fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag, has an initial cost effective and is environment friendly. Furthermore, it has a lot of technical advantages such as the improvement of long term compressive strength, high workability, and the reduction of hydration heat. However, as the use and study on the performance of ternary blended concrete is limited, it is low short term compressive strength. This study was performed to evaluate the characteristics which are a long and short term compressive strengths, permeability and chemical attacks resistance of hardened high early concrete containing slag powder and fly-ash using high early strength cement(HE-TBC). Replacement rate of FA is fixed on 10% and replacement rate of slag powder are 0%, 10%, 20% and 30%. The test results showed that compressive and flexural strength of HE-TBC increased as the slag contents increased from 0% to 30% at the short term of curing. The permeability resistance of HE-TBC(fly ash 10%, blast 30%) was extremely good at the short and long terms. However, high early strength ternary blended concrete had weak on carbonation of chemical attack.

Recently, a demand for reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period is increasing because of the slump of the construction business, the increasing price of raw-materials and the enforcement of after-sale system. As a method of reducing construction period, many construction companies usually apply a method of reducing curing period. But if they use an existing early strength cement or admixture, they spend a heavy cost on materials and there are many problems, such as a heat of hydration and a loss of workability. The purpose of this research is a reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period as a earlier removal time of form. To check up application of concrete using high early strength binder and admixture, comparative tests were carried out with concrete using an existing early strength cement or admixture such as tests of diurnal variation, setting time and compressive strength.

The heat of hydration of cement causes the intemal temperature rise at early age, particulay in massive concrete structures. As the results of the temperature rise and restraint condition, the thermal stress amy induce cracks in concrete. The prediction of the thermal stress is very important in design and consturction slages in order to control the cracks in mass concrete. In this study, the temperature rise of high strength concrete due to the heat of hydration is investigated. Test variables are type and content of binder. As the results, the temperature rise is imcreased with increasing cement content. However, the increament is decreased in higher cement comtnet range. Fly ash is effictive in the reduction of hydration heat.

Development of high-strength concrete and improved durability has brought new opportunities to the construction industry. However, some attention was given to characteristics of such concrete, in particular with respect to their cracking sensitivity. It has been argued and demonstrated experimentally that a low water/cement ratio concrete undergoes shrinkage due to self-desiccation. This so-called autogenous shrinkage cracking is a major concern for concrete durability. One possible method to reduce cracking due to autogenous shrinkage is the addition of expansive additive. Tests conducted by many researches have shown the beneficial effects of addition of expansive for reducing the risk of shrinkage-introduced cracking. This paper aimed at forecasting deformation of high strength cement paste with expansive additive for early age.

The fineness degree of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC henceforth) usually used in Korea's construction sites, is designated as over 2,800㎠/g. But the higher the fineness, the surface area of hydration reaction on water increases as well, resulting in large early age strength and high-intensity; so the trend is to prefer a high degree of fineness. But from a pore-space filling perspective, fine-particled cement is not always beneficial to intensity. Therefore in this study artificial modifications were given to cement fineness to analyze the effect of various fineness changes on the liquidity, air quantity and intensity of lean mixture cement mortar. As a result, the greater the degree of fineness, the better the cement was, with fine particle+OPC having the most satisfactory results due to consecutive particle distribution.

This research is related to 240MPa ultra-high strength concrete(UHSC) with extremely loss W/B ratio. For this development, High flow cement is mainly used which has a short reaction rate due to the high blaine and high early strength, which can make greater fluidity in case of very low W/C ratio. It made the best mixture using the mineral admixtures silica fume, slag powder and special admixture. For dispersibility and homogeneity of cement binder, cement of premix type is produced using omni-mixer. Moreover, it ensures the fluidity of ultra-high strength concrete(UHSC). For having a good fire performance, we made an experiment special coarse aggregate. As a result, we got 180MPa in case of water curing, 200MPa in case of steam curing and uniform UHSC of 240MPa in case of a special curing method.
To evaluate the effects of limestone powder and silica fume on the properties of high-strength high-volume ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS) blended cement concrete, this study investigated the rheology, strength development, hydration and pozzolanic reaction characteristics, porosity and pore size distribution of high-strength mortars with the water-to-binder ratio of 20, 50 to 80% GGBFS, up to 20% limestone powder, and up to 10% silica fume. According to test results, compared with the Portland cement mixture, the high-volume GGBFS mixture had much higher flow due to the low surface friction of GGBFS particles and higher strength in the early age due to the accelerated cement hydration by increase of free water; however, because of too low water-to-binder ratio and cement content, and lack of calcium hydroxide content, the pozzolanic reactio cannot be activated and the long-term strength development was limited. Limestone powder did not affect the flowability, and also accelerate the early cement hydration. However, because its effect on the acceleration of cement hydration is not greater than that of GGBFS, and it does not have hydraulic reactivity unlikely to GGBFS, compressive strength was reduced proportional to the replacement ratio of limestone powder. Also, silica fume and very fine GGBFS lowered flow and strength by absorbing more free water required for cement hydration. Capillary porosities of GGBFS blended mortars were smaller than that of OPC mortar, but the effect of limestone powder on porosity was not noticeable, and silica fume increased porosity due to low degree of hydration. Nevertheless, it is confirmed that the addition of GGBFS and silica fume increases fine pores.

Very-early strength latex-modified concrete (VES-LMC) was developed for the purpose of fast-track overlay of a concrete bridge deck under heavy traffic, concentrated on the workability, durability, and strength gain so that it can be opened to the traffic only three hours after its placement. The mixture of VES-LMC might accompany very high heat of hydration at early-age because of its inherent rapid hardening property and could have susceptibility to autogenous shrinkage because of its relatively low water-cement ratio. This study evaluated the effect of the latex-cement ratio(L/C) both of the constant and variable slumps on the autogenous shrinkage of VES-LMC by carrying out simple temperature rise test and early-age shrinkage experiment. Test results are as follows: The latex contributes on the enhancement of the concrete durability but has little effect on its hydration and the accompanied heat of hydration in VES-LMC. Autogenous shrinkage increased with the increase in latex-cement ratio at variable slumps and its pattern followed regularly a logarithmic increase. However, the influence of water-cement ratio and latex-cement ratios for the test specimens at constant slump on early-age autogenous shrinkage property was found to be minor due to the simultaneous effect of the two experimental variables.
The rapid-set cement concrete causes high hydration temperature and nay result in a high drying shrinkage and shrinkage-induced cracking. This problem may be fixed by incorporating polypropylene fibers in rapid-set cement concrete, because of increased toughness, resistance to impact, corrosion, fatigue, and durability. A series of concrete drving shrinkage tests was peformed in order to investigate the shrinkage properties of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete with experimental variables such as concrete types, fiber reinforcement, W/C ratio, with and without restraint. Uni-axially restrained bar specimens were used for the restrained shrinkage tests. The results were as follows; The dry shrinkage of rapid-set cement concrete was much lessor than that oi OPC, probably because of smaller weight reduction rate by early hydration and strength development. The constraint and bridging effects caused by polypropylene fibers were great for the rapid-setting cement concrete when compared with that of plain concrete, and this resulted In increased resistance against tensile stress and cracking.

Compressive strength in concrete increases with time. Regression analysis with time is conventionally performed for strength evaluation and prediction. In this study, hydrate amount is assumed as a function of hydration rate and porosity, and modeling on compressive strength is carried out considering decreasing porosity with time, which does not need the regression analysis with time. For twenty one mix proportions of HPC (High Performance Concrete), DUCOM (FE program) which can simulate the behavior in early aged concrete is utilized, and porosity from each mix proportions is obtained with time. For HPC with OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete, modeling on compressive strength is performed considering hydration rate, unit content of cement, and porosity with time. For HPC with mineral admixtures, a long-term parameter which can handle long-term strength development is additionally considered. From the comparison with the previous test results, the applicability of the proposed model is verified.
