In this paper, we investigate methods to enhance the perceptual quality of MP3-coded audios. Based on the high frequency reconstruction method by Liu, in the proposed method, we determine adaptively the starting point of high frequency reconstruction. We also present an improved linear estimation method. For high frequency component generation, we compare two methods. One is a replication of low-frequency components and the other is an insertion of additive white Gaussian noise signals. Through subjective tests, we shall show that the proposed method can improve the perceptual quality of MP3-coded audio.
Classical designs of optical transimpedance preamplifier for p-i-n photodiode receiver circuits generally employ common source transimpedance input stages. In this paper, we explore the design of a class of current-mode optical transimpedance preamplifier based upon common gate input stages. A feature of current-mode optical transimpedance preamplifier is high gain and high bandwidth. The bandwidth of the transimpedance preamplifier can also be increased by the capacitive peaking technique. In this paper we included the development and application of a circuit analysis technique based on the minimum noise. We develop a general formulation of the technique, illustrate its use on a number of circuit examples, and apply it to the design and optimization of the low-noise transimpedance amplifier. Using the noise minimization method and the capacitive peaking technique we designed a transimpedance preamplifier with low noise, high-speed current-mode transimpedance preamplifier with a 1.57GHz bandwidth, and a 2.34K transimpedance gain, a 470nA input noise current. The proposed preamplifier consumes 16.84mW from a 3.3V power supply.
With increasing transmission speed of backbone networks, it is getting to provide enough available bandwidth. However, the bandwidth is not effectively utilized in volumetric data transfer. This mainly comes from the transmission protocol, TCP, which is used for most applications. TCP is inherently difficult to adapt the available bandwidth because of it's own characteristic of transfer mechanism. UDT is a prominent application level data transfer protocol which is targeting high speed network. In this paper, we propose UDT parallel transfer technologies which is adaptive to network status and then evaluate their performance in two points of view. Firstly, we measure data transfer rate of UDT with rate congestion control methods, and compare them with basic UDT. Secondly, we apply parallel transfer technologies adapted to network status, and measure their performance. Experimental results showed that UDT rate congestion control method outperforms UDT with 106% improvement in RTT 100ms section set with jitter 30ms. In addition, performance of parallel transfer with rate congestion control method showed 107% improvement than that of parallel transfer in RTT 400ms section set with jitter 20ms.
Nowadays, the issue of congestion control in high-speed communication networks becomes critical in view of the bandwidth-delay products for efficient data flow. In particular, the fact that the congestion is often accompanied by the data flow from the high-speed link to low-speed link is important with respect to the stability of closed-loop congestion control. The Virtual-Connection Network (VCN) in Gigabit Ethernet networks is a packet-switching based network capable of implementing cell- based connection, link-by-link flow-controlled connection, and single- or multi-destination virtual connections. VCN described herein differ from the virtual channel in ATM literature in that VCN have link-by-link flow control and can be of multi-destination. VCNs support both connection-oriented and connectionless data link layer traffic. Therefore, the worst collision scenario in Ethernet CSMA/CD with virtual collision brings about end-to-end delay. Gigabit Ethernet networks based on CSMA/CD results in non-deterministic behavior because its media access rules are based on random probability. Hence, it is difficult to obtain any sound mathematical formulation for congestion control without employing random processes or fluid-flow models. In this paper, an analytical method for the design of a congestion control scheme is proposed based on Smith's principle to overcome instability accompanied with the increase of end-to-end delays as well as to avoid cell losses. To this end, mathematical analysis is provided such that the proposed control scheme guarantees the performance improvement with respect to bandwidth and latency for selected network links with different propagation delays. In addition, guaranteed bandwidth is to be implemented by allowing individual stations to burst several frames at a time without intervening round-trip idle time.

A 'VPN over Intemet' has the benefit of being cost-effective and flexible. However, it has difficulties providing sufficient QoS and adequate transmission capacity for high bandwidth service. Given the increasing demand for high bandwidth Internet and QoS assurances in a 'VPN over Internet', IP/GMPLS based on a control plane combined with a high bandwidth, DWDM optical network is seen as a very favorable anroach for realizing the future 'OVPN over IP/GMPLS over DWDM'. Within this architecture, providing QoS guaranteed multimedia services with a differentiated QoS guaranteed protocol framework with QoS recovery is one of the key issues to implement. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the entire interoperability procedure of control protocols based on differentiated optical QoS service (DOQOS) classes for providing end-to-end QoS in an 'OVPN over IP/GMPLS over DWDM' architecture.

This paper proprses the architeecture of an interconnection network for Advanced Information Communi-cation Procssing System(AICPS)developde for prividing open information communication servies on a variety of heterogeneous networks. The proposed Interconnection network, called High Speed Swiching Fabric(HSSF),has been designed by a common bus.It can handile 32 i/O channels, each of which uses serial communication method using 100Mbps TAXI.The switching bandwidth of the common bus is 640Mvps.Each I/O channel can be alloted about 20Mbps bandwidth in steady state, and therefore it's sufficient bandwidth is able to interwork with ISDN and Internet services, as well as PSTN. HSSF is composed of the switching board assembly, the subscriber,I/O board assemly, and the backplane board assembly. An attached node takes in the network adapter board assembly to adapt the high speed interworking protocol. For reliability,HSSF is duplicated with load-sharing method.

In ATM switching system link bandwidth is one of the improtant resources. Thus ATM switching system must allocate the bandwidth to the users efficiently and guarantee the QoS. Especially to guarantee the QoS of the VBR traffic source such as video, users must declare the traffic characteristics and QoS expectations using UPC parameters. The CAC can use two multiplexig models in variation to link capacity and connection number. One is loseless multiplexing model; the second is a statistical multiplexing model. The loseless multiplexing model performs best when the number of mutiplexed sources is small, but as the number of multiplexed sources is increase the CAC must use the statistical multiplexing model. In this paper, the statistical multiplexing models are studied, which are suitable for high capacity ATM link on VBR traffic sources. The satistical multiplexing model and the loseless multiplexing model are combined. In statistical model we map the UPC parameters provided by new VBR connection to appropriate source traffic model. In the high capacity ATM link, as the connection number increases, the statical multiplexing gain increases.

This paper presents a design of a backbone network which uses a rigister-Insertion ring structure, The introduction of a high speed register in sertton backbone ring enables high performance inter-network 4ommunicatlons In a simple and modular structure at low cost and Its concurrent communications.. Two or more bridge nodes can be used to construct a register Insertion backbone ring network. The high bandwidth of the backbone ring sup ports heavy traffic for Inter-segment Eornrnunicatlons. The bridge node does both local address filtering to block data entering the ring and remote address filtering to block data entering the local LAN segment . Title local address greatly reduces the rate on the backbone ring and the remote address filterlng greatly reduces the traffic rate on each LAN segment. An feature makes the network the network reconflguratlon simpler and transparent to users. A throughput analysis Is used to deterrune the bandwidth of the backbone rlr)g transmission medium.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the artefacts of 12 fixed orthodontic appliances in magnetic resonance images obtained using 1.5-T and 3-T scanners, and to evaluate different imaging sequences designed to suppress metal artefacts. Materials and Methods: In vitro, study casts of 1 adult with normal occlusion were used. Twelve orthodontic appliances were attached to the study casts and scanned. Turbo spin echo (TSE), TSE with high readout bandwidth, and TSE with view angle tilting and slice encoding for metal artefact correction were used to suppress metal artefacts. Artefacts were measured. In vivo, 6 appliances were scanned: 1) conventional stainless-steel brackets; 2) nickelfree brackets; 3) titanium brackets; 4) a Herbst appliance; 5) a fixed retainer; and 6) a rapid maxillary expander. The maxilla, mandible, nasopharynx, tongue, temporomandibular joints, and cranial base/eye globes were assessed. Scores of 0, 1, 2, and 3 indicated no artefacts and minor, moderate, and major artefacts, respectively. Results: In vitro, titanium brackets and the fixed retainer created minor artefacts. In vivo, titanium brackets caused minor artefacts. Conventional stainless-steel and nickel free brackets, the fixed retainer, and the rapid maxillary expander caused major artefacts in the maxilla and mandible. Conventional stainless-steel and nickel-free brackets caused major artefacts in the eye globe (3-T). TSE with high readout bandwidth reduced image artefacts in both scanners. Conclusion: Titanium brackets, the Herbst appliance, and the fixed retainer caused minor artefacts in images of neurocranial structures(1.5-T and 3-T) when using TSE with high readout bandwidth.

A fully on-chip open-drain CMOS output driver was designed for high bandwidth DRAMs, such that its output voltage swing was insensitive to the variations of temperature and supply voltage. An auto refresh signal was used to update the contents of the current control register, which determined the transistors to be turned-on among the six binary-weighted transistors of an output driver. Because the auto refresh signal is available in DRAM chips, the output driver of this work does not require any external signals to update the current control register. During the time interval while the update is in progress, a negative feedback loop is formed to maintain the low level output voltage ($V_OL$) to be equal to the reference voltage ($V_{OL.ref}$) which is generated by a low-voltage bandgap reference circuit. Test results showed the successful operation at the data rate up to 1Gb/s. The worst-case variations of $V_{OL.ref}$ and $V_OL$ of the proposed output driver were measured to be 2.5% and 7.5% respectively within a temperature range of $20^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ and a supply voltage range of 2.25V to 2.75V, while the worst-case variation of $V_OL$ of the conventional output driver was measured to be 24% at the same temperature and supply voltage ranges.
