In this paper, a research on the structure and the network configuration of the location register(LR), which database of new locations and service informations of subscribers according to the movement of subscribers in personal communication system(PCS). since the traditional PCS manages all the databases with the location informations as a centralized type. The service informations of the subscribers are centrally controlled by the HLR. So there have been the heavy signal traffic and the call setup delay. In order to relieve such problem, the proposed types of the configurations are the distributed type of PCS scheme and the hierarchical PCS scheme. In the distributed scheme, each PCS has its own LR and in the hierarchical PCS scheme, several LR are grouped to from a layer so that overall structure is a tree style.
Objectives: This study explored the effect of adolescents' sociodemographic variables, parenting rearing styles, resilience, and life satisfaction on adolescents' depression. The resilience as mediating effects of parental rearing styles and life satisfaction on depression was examined as well. Method: The data were from 2,108 middle school freshmen panel of a national sample at the forth year, Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS). Hierarchical multiple regressions and mediation regression analyses, steps for testing mediation by Baron and Kenny, were conducted. Results: Adolescents' resilience had both direct and mediating significant effects, showing that resilience partially mediated the effects of affective parental rearing style and life satisfaction on depression, respectively. Life satisfaction had the most significant impact on adolescents' depression. Conclusions: While some parental rearing styles were significant, adolescents' personal properties including resilience and life satisfaction revealed the most significant explanatory power of adolescents' depression. Life satisfaction was the most powerful predictor for lessening adolescents' depression.
This research aims to explore characteristics of engineering students' thinking styles compared with those of undergraduate students in Korea. For this, we investigated whether there were differences of thinking styles in undergraduates according to majors and gender. 'Thinking styles', one individual-difference variable, has received particular attention in recent years. Styles are not abilities but rather refer to individuals' preferred way of applying their abilities in cognitive tasks(Sternberg, 1988). There has been much research(domestic and foreign) about thinking styles and their related factors. However, to date, little attention has been paid to engineering students' thinking styles, and few studies have dealt with them together with undergraduate students' of various majors. This study was conducted with a total of 865 students from 3 universities, and thinking styles have been measured online. Our findings show that firstly, there were significant differences in undergraduate students' thinking styles by majors. Engineering students scored significantly higher in external style, students majoring in humanities scored higher in executive, hierarchical and conservative styles, and students majoring in arts scored higher in legislative, internal and liberal styles. Second, there was a significant difference in students' thinking styles by gender. Male students scored significantly higher than females in judicial, global and external styles. Whereas female students scored higher than males in hierarchical and internal styles. Third, there was a significant difference in engineering students' thinking styles by gender. Male engineering students scored significantly higher than females in judicial and monarchic styles. Whereas female engineering students scored significantly higher in hierarchical styles. Based on these findings, it is expected to apply thinking styles to develop related courses as well as programs for engineering students.
This paper examines the British imperialism found in Edith Nesbit's fantasy stories by looking at the function of magic and of the hierarchical relationships seen in the books. Although Edith Nesbit is relatively unknown in Korea, she is widely recognized as having had a great influence on the 20th century British literary world, and is also well-known for her political position as a socialist. Nesbit's fantasy books are commonly differentiated from other Victorian children's books written before her in that she created realistic and liberal children characters and rejected the adult didactic tone. While Nesbit's books have been recognized as revolutionary and being distinguished from other Victorian children's books, I suggest that the ideas found in her fantasy novels largely include the dominant Victorian message of British imperialism. This imperial ideology is delivered by the logic of magic and the multilateral hierarchies. The two magic creatures (The Psammead and the Phoenix) and the two magic items from an Oriental background (the Carpet and the Amulet) all have a magic power to grant people's wishes, wholeheartedly exercising their power and knowledge for the sake of the British characters. While the magic agents serve to fulfill the children's wishes, the children aim to please their parents and to benefit their family, showing layered hierarchies among the characters. Also, there is a hierarchical distinction between the magic items and the magic creatures in that the magic items have no voice to express themselves but only serve and obey the British children. The foreign characters that the children encounter in their adventures also cooperate with the British characters to help them to fulfill their goals. In short, magic frees the children from the adult-centered world but ultimately their free adventures serve their parents and other adults, and represent the ideals and hierarchical concepts of British imperialism. Thus, Nesbit's position as a modern writer seems to be ambiguous, switching between modern characterization and style, and the old Victorian imperial messages that also exist in her fantasy novels.
The purpose of this study is to analyze how the organizational structure, task group functioning and need styles have influence on the conflicts handling styles such as integrating, avoiding, dominating, obliging and compromising as the employee's personality engaged in the service industry. This study uses the hierarchical regression analysis method. Data were collected by the survey method from employees engaged in the service industry located Seoul, the Province of Gyeonggi, and the Province of Gangwon. The study result shows that to the employees with the type A style, need styles are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as avoiding. But to the employees with the type B style, need styles are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as integrating and avoiding. On the other hand the result shows that the higher the need for achievement and the lower the need for autonomy, employees with the type B style prefer integrating styles to other conflicts handling styles. Or the higher the need for dominance, employees with the type B style prefer dominating styles to other conflicts handling styles. And the higher the need for dominance, employees with the type A style prefer dominating styles to other conflicts handling styles. The study result shows that to the employees with the type A and type X style, task group functioning are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as obliging and compromising. But to the employees with the type B style, task group functioning are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as obliging and dominating. On the other hand the result shows that the lower faith in peers and management and the higher confidence in peers and management, employees with the type B style prefer obliging style to other conflicts handling styles. But the higher group homogeneity and group cohesiveness, the lower faith in peers and management and the higher confidence in peers and management, employees with the type X style prefer obliging style to other conflicts handling styles. And the higher confidence in peers and management, employees with the type A style prefer compromising style to other conflicts handling styles. The study result shows that to the employees with the type A, organizational structure functioning are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as avoiding, obliging and compromising. But to the employees with the type X style, organizational structure functioning are significantly related to the conflicts handling styles such as dominating. On the other hand the result shows that the higher role conflict, the lower role ambiguity and the higher communication system, employees with the type A style prefer avoiding style to other conflicts handling styles. But the lower role ambiguity, employees with the type X style prefer compromising style to other conflicts handling styles. To conclude from these results, employees with the type A style have influence on the organizational structure functioning to other factors on the preference of the conflicts handling styles. And employees with the type B style have influence on the needs styles to other factors on the preference of the conflicts handling styles. Or employees with the type X style have influence on the task group functioning to other factors on the preference of the conflicts handling styles. Although this study provides several managerial implications, this study has some limitations. Specifically data were collected from only the service industry in Seoul, the Province of Gyeonggi, and the Province of Gangwon. In spite of the limitations, the study results could be used valuably in case of the personnel managers which manage the employees under the conflict situations.
As the immigrant population is rapidly growing in South Korea, it is important for the next generation of Korean adolescents to foster unprejudiced attitudes towards immigrants. This paper thus seeks to shed light on adolescent prejudice towards immigrants, by addressing the following three questions: (1) Does a mother's prejudice towards immigrants and parenting style influence their adolescent children's prejudice towards immigrants? (2) Does an adolescent's prejudice towards immigrants influence his/her self-identity? (3) Does an adolescent's prejudice towards immigrants influence his/her coping styles? The sample consisted of 288 pairs of Korean adolescents and their mothers. According to hierarchical regression analyses, a mother's prejudice towards immigrants significantly predicted her adolescent's prejudice towards immigrants, after taking sociodemographic variables into account, whereas her parenting style did not. In addition, having a low level of prejudice towards immigrants among adolescents predicted high levels of self-identity (e.g. independence, proprioceptive, and mission orientation), and a greater use of positive coping skills (e.g. support-seeking and problem-solving). Overall, results showed that mothers played a significant role in shaping their adolescent's prejudice towards immigrants. Results also provided evidence that prejudice towards immigrants may interfere with the healthy development of self-identity and coping style during adolescence. In conclusion, this study suggests that multicultural education for adolescents can be more effective, when it is provided in partnership with a parent education program that is designed to raise parental multicultural awareness.

Memory cell array and peripheral circuits are designed for system on panel style frame buffer. Moreover, a parallel test methodology to test multiple blocks of memory cells is proposed to overcome low yield of system on panel processing technologies. It is capable of faster fault detection compared to conventional memory tests and also applicable to the tests of various embedded memories and conventional SRAMs. The various patterns of conventional test vectors can be used to enhance fault coverage. The proposed testing method is also applicable to hierarchical bit line and divided word line, one of design trends of recent memory architectures.
In this study, an improved HMM based recognition model is proposed for online English and Korean handwritten characters. The pattern elements of the handwriting model are sub character strokes and ligatures. To deal with the problem of handwriting style variations, a modified Hierarchical Clustering approach is introduced to partition different writing styles into several classes. For each of the English letters and each primitive grapheme in Korean characters, one HMM that models the temporal and spatial variability of the handwriting is constructed based on each class. Then the HMMs of Korean graphemes are concatenated to form the Korean character models. The recognition of handwritten characters is implemented by a modified level building algorithm, which incorporates the Korean character combination rules within the efficient network search procedure. Due to the limitation of the HMM based method, a post-processing procedure that takes the global and structural features into account is proposed. Experiments showed that the proposed recognition system achieved a high writer independent recognition rate on unconstrained samples of both English and Korean characters. The comparison with other schemes of HMM-based recognition was also performed to evaluate the system.

This article emphasizes the consequences of exploring the relationship between sustainable development practices and non-financial performing factors. Also, it investigates the combined effects of the transformational leadership style on the relationship between sustainable development practices and non-financial performing factors. Using primary data sources, this study reviews the literature on the relationship between the factors of the effectiveness of sustainable development practices of Jordanian contractors and non-financial performance. A total of 290 questionnaires were personally distributed to contractors in the Amman district in Jordan. Only 253 questionnaires were returned and usable for further analysis, which represents a response rate of 87%. Data was collected from October 2020 until April 2020. Hypotheses were tested through multiple regression analysis, and hypotheses for interacting effect were examined through hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the analysis obtained there is a significant effect on the relationship between sustainable development and non-financial performances. It shows that construction companies involved in sustainability practices will able to improve their performance, which contributed significantly toward the overall firm's performance. Whereas, results from hierarchical multiple regressions showed that transformational leadership had no moderation effect on the non-financial performance in such a way that reaches a higher firm performance level.

Publish-subscribe communication model is popular for various type of distributed applications because of its loosely coupled style connections. Among the various architecture style for publish-subscribe system, peer-to-peer architecture has been used for the mission critical application domain since it provides high scalability and real-timeness. On the other hand, to utilize the bandwidth of given networks, message filtering is frequently used to reduce the number of messages on the system. Even if P2P provides superior scalability, it is hard to apply filtering to the its messaging system because the filtering process should be done on the peer-side in P2P architecture that are usually done on the broker server in conventional pub/sub architecture. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical subscription management structure as well as message forwarding scheme for efficient data dissemination. Our proposed scheme reduces the number of received messages by filter-out un-wanted messages and offloading the message dissemination work to other subscribers to enhance the messaging throughput.
