Study of PSA Process for Carbon Dioxide Recovery over Zeolite Adsorbent: Effect of Rinse Rate on Process Performance (제올라이트 흡착제 상에서 이산화탄소 회수를 위한 PSA 공정 연구: 공정성능에 대한 세정유량의 영향)

  • In order to investigate the performance of carbon dioxide PSA over zeolite adsorbent, the present study showed results of isotherm measurement, cyclic operation of 3-bed apparatus, and the corresponding numerical simulation. The experiment data of bed temperature, purity, recovery were matched well with that of numerical simulation. Purity of both gas and adsorbent phase increased rapidly with rinse rate but the degree of increase was retarded for large rinse rate The total amount of adsorbed increased only 10% even if rinse rate was enlarged to 4 times. Optimal rinse rate was 7N㎥/hr in this study. The heating rinse led to augments in recovery and productivity, possibly thanks to ease of description resulting from increased volumetric rinse rate and temperature rise in the column.

  • An experimental study of hot filament chemical vapor deposition(HFCVD) has been carried out for the fabrication of diamond thin film. Of particular interest is the measurement of deposition uniformity on large substrates. Experimental apparatus including a vacuum chamber, heating elements, etc. has been designed and manufactured. Deposition profiles for different pretreatment powders and different flow rates have been measured in conjunction with the measurement of substrate temperature distribution on a large substrate surface. As the flow rate increases, deposition rate increases, however, the crystallinity becomes worse. Higher growth rate has been found on the region closer to the center location where substrate temperature is higher. The crystallinity has been improved as gas flow rate decreases. The growth rate and morphology of deposition were identified by SEM and the existence of diamond phase was proved by Raman spectroscopy.

  • Calorific value of mixed gas, like liquefied natural gas (LNG), is strongly depends on its compositions which are affected by the mining place and producing time. The variation in calorific value have an direct influence on the combustion characteristics and performances of boiler, burner, vehicle, power plants etc. Thus, developing experimental method to measure exact calorific value is becoming an issue in the related industrial fields. Flame calorimeter is developed to get calorific value at the dynamic equilibrium state using electric substitution method. Refrigerant-11 carries heat from combustor and/or heater to the Peltier elements which pumped it out to the cooling water. It is found out that error in the measured calorific value of methane is 2.86% compared with the theoretical one. Developed design technique and the experimental data will be applied to design the national standard gas calorific value measuring apparatus.

On the silicon nitride film formation and characteristic study by chemical vapor deposition method using electron cyclotron resonance plasma (전자 싸이클로트론 공명 플라즈마 화학 증착법에 의한 실리콘 질화막 형성 및 특성 연구)

  • Silicon nitride thin film (SiNx) was deposited onto the 3inch silicon wafer using an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma apparatus. The thin films which were deposited by changing the SiH4N2 gas flow rate ratio at 1.5mTorr without substrate heating were analyzed through the x-ray photo spectroscopy (XPS) and ellipsometer measurements, etc. Silicon nitride thin films prepared by the electron cyclotron resonance plasma chemical vapor deposition method at low substrate temperature (<10$0^{\circ}C$) exhibited excellent physical and electrical properties. The very uniform and good quality silicon nitride thin films were obtained. The characteristics of electron cyclotron resonance plasma were inferred from the analyzed results of the deposited films.

  • In this paper, we implemented the monitoring and control of geothermal heating and cooling system using mobile devices. The main idea of this system is to provide the convenience if the system can be controled in remote place with monitoring using the mobile devices like PDA. Basically, the system consists of the Server-Client structure divided into two parts, one is PDA and PC, the other is PC and PLC(Programmable Logic Controller). The PDA, which is equipped with Windows CE as as, monitors the status of the devices (motors and sensors, etc) attached to PLC and controls them. This does the system to be controled by the commands, which we assume to control, with wireless transmission between PC and PLC. The PDA parts are responsible for monitoring and control the devices connected to the PLC, and the PC part which equipped with the application is to provide the relation between PDA and PLC.   • This paper presents a 37.5kVA (125kVp, 300mA) high frequency inverter type power supply for diagonostic X-ray generator with two HFHV (high-frequency high-voltage) isolating transformers. The output regulations, X-ray tuve voltage and tube current, are obtained by two high frequency inverters with the each other feedback PI controller and operating time switch for selecting shooting time and synchronizing two inverters. The operating modes and design consideration of the proposed power supply are given. Issues in the design of two HFHV isolating transformersfors high volage genrating and filament heating are discussed. Experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the designed power supply for varying load conditions. The proposed apparatus has several advnatages, e.g., the fast rising time of tube voltae, accuracy and reduced component size etc.

  • Pultrusion process of phenolic foam composite is investigated. Phenolic foam composites provide heat and flame resistance with less weight. When made into foam, a variety of properties can be obtained with different bubble size and number density. In this study, effect of process variables on the foaming characteristics of phenolic resin composites during pultrusion process has been studied experimentally. The process variables considered are the heating temperature and the pulling speed as well as the mass fraction of blowing agent. Experiments were performed using a laboratory scale pultrusion apparatus. Optimal process condition was found by observing the micro-morphology.

  • In order to prevent the environmental pollution, the dryers are commonly used to treat sludge that one of sewages is polluting the quality of water. Generally, the drying method is various as to the property of material and use. Rotary dryer is a good apparatus to treat them. The rotary dryer is the way that is to make substance transmission and heating using hot air between sludge particles and heated gas. In this paper, we performed a numerical analysis of the inner air flow of the ANDRICH type dryer through the changing rotational speed from 3rpm to 10rpm. A PIV can be applied to research a inner flow of ANDRICH type dryer.

  • Nowadays, with urban railway vehicles, refrigeration has been used for a long time as an air conditioner including a heating apparatus and a ventilator. Regarding saveenergy, there are lots of researches continually on the refrigeration field to reduce the parts' weight, improve the parts' efficiency and make good looking design of air conditioners. Moreover, we are able to see the recent achievement of the researches. As a result, through this research we improve the quality of inner air with the urban railway system and make a domestic HVAC system by technical development of high capacity air conditioner and the principal parts.
