The electrode materials for welding machine in automobile industry such as Cu-Cr, Cu-Zr and Cu-$Al_2O_3$ require the high electrical conductivity and the proper hardness. Therefore the effects of solution heat treatment and aging treatment on the electrical conductivity and hardness of Cu-0.8wt%Cr and Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloys have been investigated. Cu-0.8wt%Cr alloy showed the higher electrical conductivity and hardness than Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloy and both alloys showed the better electrical conductivity at $930^{\circ}C$ among 930, 980 and $1030^{\circ}C$ solution heat treatment temperatures. The electrical conductivity and hardness in both alloys were not affected by aging treatment but remarkably affected by solution heat treatment temperature. The final drawing process reduced electrical conductivity and increased hardness more in Cu-1.2wt%Cr alloy.
An investigation of the CrMoV rotor steel weldment which experienced by cyclic thermal aging heat treatment and as-received condition was performed. This evaluation was carried out to confirm whether this type of weldment is appropriate for the service environment in terms of microstructural examinations, microhardness measurements and tensile tests. The cyclic thermal aging heat treatment, containing continuous heating and cooling thermal cycle was programmed to simulate the real rotor service condition. The heat treatment was performed for 40 cycles(5920hrs). The results indicated that the weldment was composed of 4 different regions such as heat affected zone of the base metal, butter weld(initial weld), full thickness weld(final weld) and the base metal. The double welding process was applied to eliminate the susceptibility of reheat cracking at heat affected zone of base metal. The grain refinement at the HAZ due to the welding process could reduce the possibility of cracking susceptibility, but its tensile properties was appeared to be low due to the weld metal in as-received condition. The benefit effect, grain refinement was extended with carbides coarsening during the cyclic thermal aging heat treatment. However the poor mechanical properties of the weldment was more degraded as undergoing the heat treatment.
This study investigated a developed process for producing a composite bipolar plate having excellent conductivity by using coal tar pitch and phenol resin as binders. We used a pressing method to prepare a compact of graphite powder mixed with binders. Resistivity of the impregnated compact was observed as heat treatment temperature was increased. It was observed that pore sizes of the GCTP samples increased as the heat treatment temperature increased. There was not a great difference between the flexural strengths of GCTP-IM and CPR-IM as the heat treatment temperature was increased. The resistivity of GPR700-IM, heat treated at $700^{\circ}C$ using phenolic resin as a binder, was $4829{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ which was best value in this study. In addition, it is expected that with the appropriate selection of carbon powder and further optimization of process we can produce a composite bipolar plate which has excellent properties.
Heat treatment with carburized quenching process is widely used for automotive helical gear to improve its surface properties of hardness and strength. However, the gear can be deformed with the process over the allowable tolerance, which possibly makes noise, vibration and heat problems in operation. In this study, deformation of helical gear during heat treatment of carburized quenching was analyzed with a numerical method, incorporating coupled calculations of thermal conduction, carbon diffusion, phase transformation and thermal stresses. With the analysis, the effect of coolant temperature in quenching on the deformation was investigated. The result of the analysis revealed that the higher the coolant temperature became, the more change of helix angle and the more compressive stresses in the surface generated, because of delayed generation of martensite in the part.
The gas turbine components is used on high temperature conditions which under severely circumstance with start-up and stop several times. Therefore, it is used nickel-base superalloys like and GTD-111DS. Damaged buckets on the t긴ade tip during operating are repaired per 24,000 hr to three times according to repair specification of manufacture. It is applied pre-heat, HIP(hot isostatic pressing) and post-heat treatment to support welding repair on blade tip effectively. On this study, It is utilize of $WRAP^{TM}$ (welding repair advanced process) method to make tension test specimens for this study, And then, material strength and characteristic for GTD-111DS was analyzed.
Ferroelectric $ReMnO_3$(Re:Ho, Er) thin films were deposited on Si(100) substrate by Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD). Crystallinity and electric properties of $ReMnO_3$(Re:Ho, Er) thin films were investigated as a function of thermal heat treatment process, CHP (Conventional Heat-treatment Process) and RTP (Rapid Thermal Process). $ReMnO_3$(Re:Ho, Er) thin films prepared by RTP showed higher c-axis preferred orientation and homogeneous surface roughness than those prepared by CHP. The remnant polarization of ferroelectric hysteresis loop of $ReMnO_3$(Re:Ho, Er) thin films was strongly dependent on the caxis preferred orientation of hexagonal single phase, and the leakage current characteristics of thin films were dependent on the homogeneity of grain size as well as surface roughness of thin films.
The present study was motivated by increasing demands on quantitative measurements of the heat flux through the water cooling and quenching process of hot steel. The local heat flux measurements are employed by a novel experimental technique that has a function of high-temperature heat flux gauge in which test block assemblies are directly used to measure the heat flux variation during water cooling and quenching of hot steel. The heat flux can be directly achieved by Fourier's law and is also compared with numerical estimation which is solved by inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP). The high-temperature heat flux gauge developed in this study can be applicable to measure cooling rate and history during the actual cooling applications of steelmaking process. In addition, the measurement uncertainty of heat flux is calculated by a quantitative uncertainty analysis which is based on the ANSI/ASME PTC 19.1-2005 standard.
Titanium Alloys used in this experiment has an good corrosion resistance and specific strength, and is the new material developed for medical supplies living goods. In this study the rolled titanium alloy is done by annealing, solution heat-treatment and aging and then is worked by wire EDM. With changing the process conditions, the process properties of surface hardness, surface roughness, shape of process surface and the analysis of ingredients are measured through experiment repeating main cut and finish cut. It is confirmed to gain good measure values as increasing the number of processing of wire EDM. In this experiment the phenomena of processing is studied and the appropriate process condition is proposed.
This paper proposed that the eddy-current measurement method can be used a means of in-process measuring the hardening depth in Laser surface treatment process. Also, this paper deal with the numerical analysis of magnetic flux distribution and experimental result of measurement. In Laser heat treatment process of steels, a thin layer of the substrate is rapidly heated to austenitizing temperature and subsequently cooled at a very fast rate due to the self-quenching by heat conduction into the bulk body, to produce a martensite structure which have low magnetic permeability. The eddy-current measurement method depends on the properties of material to be measured such as electric conductivity, magnetic permeability and geometry. In this paper, the hardening depth was measured by detecting relevant magnetic permeability changes caused by heat treatment of steels.
