An infant of a baby child who haven't communication skills through a language expresses their intention or baby condition as generally crying. Among these things, it is important to show a baby condition because their disease miss diagnosis time or remain to decide an exact diagnosis result too hard. For this, in this paper, we are going to develop system which decides where to be not good body point by analysing their face color and crying sound. Specifically, in this paper, we are going to act for baby heart diseases by doing feature extraction for their face region color and crying sound. To embody, we are going to present diagnosis method and compare analyze their crying sound a stand child, a different diseases child and a baby heart diseases child through each analyzed element. And also, we are going to extract matters to be attended to baby heart diseases through experiment and prepare objective index and an accuracy of baby heart diseases diagnosis result.

Seventy cases of open heart surgery were performed in the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Pusan Paik Hospital, Inje College, from Oct. 1985 to Oct. 1986. And the results were summarized as follows. 1. Among the 70 cases, there were 48 cases of congenital heart anomalies and 22 cases of acquired rheumatic valvular heart diseases. Age range of the congenital patients was 7 months to 31 years with the mean age of 10 years, and the acquired patients was 18 to 62 years with the mean age of 40 years. 2. The heart-lung machine used for cardiopulmonary bypass was Sarns 7000, 5-head roller pump, and the number and type of oxygenators were 5 of membrane type and 65 of bubble type. For all cases GIK [glucose-insulin-potassium] solution was used as cardioplegic solution for myocardial protection during operation. 3. Among the 48 congenital anomalies, there were 12 cases of ASD group, 29 of VSD group, 3 of ECD, 3 of TOF and one of PDA + MR, and to all of which the appropriate radical operations were applied. 4. Among the 22 acquired valvular diseases, there were 11 cases of mitral valve diseases [MS; 4, MSr; 3, MRs; 4], 3 cases of aortic valve diseases [AR:1, ARs;1, ASr;1], 4 cases of double valve diseases [MRs+TR; 3, MRs+ARs; 1] and 4 cases of triple valve diseases [MSr+ASr+TR; 3, MSr+Ar+TR; 1]. To all the diseased mitral and aortic valves, artificial valve replacement was applied except one [As], in which valve plication was applied. And to all the diseased tricuspid valve, DeVega annuloplasty was applied. 5. The number of replaced artificial valves were 29 in 25 patients [congenital; 3, acquire; 22]. In MVR, 6 of mechanical valves [St. Jude Medical valve; 6] and 15 of tissue valves [Carpentier-Edward valve; 11, lonescu-Shiley valve; 4] were used. In AVR, 6 of mechanical valves [St. Jude Medical valve; 6] and 2 of tissue valves [Carpentier-Edward valve; 2] were used. 6. Postoperative complications were occurred in 12 cases. Among them 11 cases were recovered with intensive cares, but one patient [VSD + Fistula of Valsalva sinus] was expired with low cardiac out put syndrome.

This article is for understanding characteristics of febrile disease through analysing usage of representative prescriptions in "Wenbingtiaobian", composition of their related prescriptions and their coverage of modern diseases. Analysis of prescriptions was based on "Translation of Wenbingtiaobian", "Modern Shanhanlun" and "Herbal Formula Science" and clinical papers were searched in China Academic Journals(CAJ) of China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI). Conclusions are as follows. First, principles of modifying or formulating prescriptions for febrile diseases are clearing heat, nourishing yin or dispelling dampness. Second, Zengyechengqitang, Xinjiahuanglongtang and Huweichengqitang are applied to pattern of bowel excess such as constipation or ileus. Third, Jiajianfumaitang is applied to heart diseases, Sanjiafumaitang to liver and heart, Dadingfengzhu to liver diseases. Fourth, Jiajianzhengqisan related prescriptions are applied to spleen diseases like conspitation, diarrhea or gastritis. Fifth, Baihujiarenshentang is applied to diabetes or fever and Baihujiaguizhitang to gout or arthritis. Sixth, Xuanbaichengqitang is applied to lung diseases and Taorenchengqitang to gynecology diseases. Seventh, Sanrentang is applied lung diseases like cough or pneumonia, spleen diseases like diarrhea or enteritis and kidney diseases like edema, arthritis or leucorrhea. Eighth, Yinqiaosan and Sangjuyin tend to be applied to exogenous diseases and diseases of five organs of sense, Jiajianfumaitang and Sanjiafumaitang to heart diseases, Angongniuhuangwan to encephalopathy, Qingyingtang and Huabantang to skin diseases, Zengyetang to gastrointestinal disorders, Shashenmaidongtang to lung or spleen diseases.

Pyogenic orofacial infections are most commonly odontogenic in origin. Although such infections are usually self-limiting and spatially confined, purulent material may occasionally borrow deeply into contiguous fascial space or planes far from the initial site of involvement. The incidence of orofacial infection remains low in this modern era of preventive dental care and antibiotic therapy, but severe orofacial infections are most frequently observed in the medically compromised patients. We experienced 5 cases of severe orofacial odontogenic infection associated with medical diseases, and then concluded as follows : 1. The average hospitalized period was about 5 weeks, and the signs that indicated that the infections were controlled usually appeared in third week after incision and drainage. 2. The involved medical diseases were diabetes mellitus iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, malnutrition, etc. 3. The medical diseases should be treated coincidently with control of infection.

Oriental medicine lacks diagnosis data in fixed quantity possible to express visually to patients by depending on clinician's intuition than Western medicine that continues to development by various diagnosis devices. For that, this paper intends to examine relation between heart and voice signal regarded as center organ and source of life and mind in order to implement objectification through the visualization of oriental diagnosis method above all. According to because the heart is related to the tongue among five organs, by thinking with sounds, we would design the way of identifying existence of heart diseases focused on the fact that lingual sound pronunciation of heart patient is inexact. For this, we achieved a comparison, analysis of statistical bandwidth and morphological modeling of the second formants frequency about a lingual sound for their voice constituted subject group of heart diseases and normal people. Finally, we analyzed interrelationship to the result of experiment by designed method.

Between March, 1988 and July, 1992, 114 patients underwent Open Heart Surgery under hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass. There were 29 cases of congenital heart anomalies (25％), and 85 cases of acquired heart diseases (75％) consisting of 53 cases of valvular heart disease, 31 cases of ischemic heart disease, and a case of left atrial myxoma. The age distribution of 114 cases was 4 to 73 years, and mean age was 43 years old consisting of mean age of congenital heart disease 23, valvular heart disease 47, and ischemic heart disease 57 years old. Overall operative mortality was about 7.9％.

Objectives: Lonicerae flos (LF), a dried flower part of Lonicera japonica Thunb., has been widely used in Korean medicine as anti-inflammatory and antioxidative agent. The purpose of this study was to determine the cardioprotective effects of LF, through potential antioxidant effects, on the pressure overload (PO)-induced heart failure (HF) in C57BL/6 mice after transverse aortic constriction (TAC) surgery. Methods: Resveratrol (10 mg/kg body weight) or LF (125, 250 or 500 mg/kg body weight) was orally administered, once daily for 14 days, starting 14 days after TAC surgery. Changes in the mortality, body weights, heart weights, histopathology of the heart, and antioxidant defense systems of the heart were analyzed. Results: Marked and noticeable increases of heart weights, mortalities, and hypertrophic, focal, and lytic fibrotic histological changes in the LVs were observed, with destruction of heart antioxidant defense systems after surgery. However, HF signs, induced by TAC surgery through PO, and destruction of heart antioxidant defense systems were significantly and dose-dependently inhibited by 14 days of maintained oral treatment with LF 500, 250 or 125 mg/kg. Treatment with 250 mg/kg LF was comparable to treatment with 10 mg/kg resveratrol. Conclusions: The results in this study suggest that oral administration of LF favorably relieves PO-induced HF following TAC, through increase of heart antioxidant defense systems. The overall effects of 250 mg/kg LF were similar to those of 10 mg/kg resveratrol. More detailed mechanistic studies should be conducted in the future, with screening of the biologically active compounds in LF.

Cardiomyocyte apoptosis is initiated by various cellular insults and accumulated cardiomyocyte apoptosis leads to the pathogenesis of heart failure. Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) provoke apoptotic cascades. Manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) is an important antioxidant enzyme that converts cellular ROS into harmless products. In this study, we demonstrate that MnSOD is down-regulated upon hydrogen peroxide treatment or ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Enhanced expression of MnSOD attenuates cardiomyocyte apoptosis and myocardial infarction induced by I/R injury. Further, we show that miR-23a directly regulates the expression of MnSOD. miR-23a regulates cardiomyocyte apoptosis by suppressing the expression of MnSOD. Our study reveals a novel model regulating cardiomyocyte apoptosis which is composed of miR-23a and MnSOD. Our study provides a new method to tackling apoptosis related cardiac diseases.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the cardioprotective effect of the potent antioxidant properties of Scrophulariae Radix (SR) aqueous extracts by examining pressure overload (PO) heart failure (HF) induced by transverse aortic constriction (TAC) of C57BL/6 mice. Methods: SR (500, 250, 125 mg/kg) and resveratrol (10 mg/kg) were administered orally once a day for 14 days, after the TAC operation. Changes in mortality, the body and heart weights, histopathology of the heart, and antioxidant defense system of the heart were analyzed. Results: After the TAC operation, increases were observed in mortality, heart weights, left ventricular hypertrophy, and lytic and focal fibrotic histological change, and destruction of the heart antioxidant defense system. However, the HF signs showed dose-dependent inhibition following 14 days of continuous oral treatment with SR. A SR dose of 125 mg/kg gave a similar inhibition to that obtained with resveratrol at 10 mg/kg. Conclusions: Oral administration of SR beneficially improves PO-induced HF following TAC surgery by increasing the activity of the heart antioxidant defense system. The overall effect of SR at 125 mg/kg is similar to the effect of resveratrol at 10 mg/kg. However, more detailed mechanistic studies should be performed by screening of the biologically active compounds in SR.

Yang deficiency pattern is a representative syndrome differentiation. This article is a study on to which categories of modern diseases yang deficiency is assigned by reference to modern clinical papers and the meaning of yang deficiency interpreted with a perspective of Korean Medicine and a modern perspective. Yang deficiency, yang qi deficiency, lack of yang qi and yang qi debilitation are the words found in "Nei Ching" and yang qi can be interpreted as something to warm, drive and arouse. Zhangzhongjing considered recovery or loss of Yang as the key to life in "Shanghanlun". Danxi proposed "Yang being liable to hyperactivity, Yin being insufficient" and emphasized pathological ministerial fire of Yang exuberance rather than physiological ministerial fire of Yang deficiency. Zhangjingyue proposed "Yang not being in excess, Yin being often deficient" and understood growth and decline of yin qi are all led by yang qi and put emphasis on true yin in addition to yang qi. Diseases of yang deficiency pattern are related with decline of metabolic level, hypofunction of internal secretion, disorder of immune function, disorder of automatic nerve system, sympathetic nerve inhibition, metabolic disorder of microelements, increase of cGMP, change of microcirculation, low speed of blood stream, kidney malfunction. Diseases related with kidney are sterility, polycystic ovary syndrome, spinal stenosis, edema, renal failure, IgA nephropathy, erectile dysfunction, nephritis, prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, decrease of adrenal cortical hormone by nephrotic syndrome, myelodysplastic syndrome. Disease related with heart are heart failure, arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, atherosclerosis heart disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, pulmonary heart disease. Diseases related with spleen are irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis. Diseases related with liver are hypothyroidism, liver cirrhosis ascites, hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis, hepatic diabetes. Diseases related with lung are allergic rhinitis, cough variant asthma, bronchial asthma, pulmonary emphysema. And diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, aplastic anemia, headache, encephalatrophy, Alzheimer's disease are also related with yang deficiency.
