Objectives: As collaboration for community health promotion is much emphasized, the concept and process of community collaboration for health needs to be discussed. This paper discusses varying types of collaboration and collaboration building processes and suggests directions for enhancing community collaboration research and practice. Methods: Leading literature on community partnership building and community health development and current community partnership research program information were reviewed. Results: Although the term collaboration is used interchangeably with cooperation, partnership, network, or coalition, conceptual differences need to be acknowledged in order to develop and reinforce the processes of collaboration. Collaboration building goes in hand with community-based participatory research and systems thinking, which should be supported by long-term, systematic planning and evaluation research. Conclusion: Collaboration for community health promotion needs to be defined and agreed conceptually, thus collaboration process can be developed. Effective collaboration building will be facilitated by systematic thinking and participatory research. Research support system should appreciate the time-intensive, process-oriented nature of collaboration building by providing long-term research funding and emphasizing process and long-term evaluation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the content of the sexual knowledge and sexual attitude of the results of 39 previous studies for the adolescence in Korea, 1976-1997. The basis for analysis was the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education developed by the Sex Information and Education Council of the U. S.(SIECUS). SIECUS is consisted of six key concepts; Human development, Relationships, Personal skills, Sexual behaviour, Sexual health, Society and Health. The research consisted of 39 articles that met definitional criteria of content analysis. The results of the study were summarized as follows: 1. Knowledge: It was conducted 96.7% of human development, 90.0% of sexual health, 70.0% of sexual behaviour, 23.3% of society and culture. 2. Attitude: It was conducted 94.1% of sexual behaviour, 73.5% of relationships, 55.9% of sexual health, 41.1% of human development, 26.5% of society and culture, 11.8% of personal skills. 3. General characteristics: With regard to sexual knowledge, 50.0% of research were published 1980s, 43.3% were 1990s, and 6.7%were 1970s. As regard to sexual attitude, 50% of research were published 1980s, 45.5% were 1990s, and 2.9% were 1970s. In sample size, 23.1% of 600 over, 401-500 were 20.5%. In the research tool, it was developed by researcher mainly 66.7%, modified tool by researcher was 5.1%. The tested reliability of the research tool was only 27.9%. And 78.9% of the research was not tested in validity of tool.
This study examined all the papers published in the Journal of Occupational Health Nursing from 1991 to May 2000 based on an objective frame of evaluation. The purpose of study is to prospect the trend of occupational nursing research and to provide an optimal direction for future occupational nursing service. The results of total 94 studies were analyzed as follows. 1. The number of papers published in 1991-1992, 1993-1995, 1996-1997 was not significantly increased. However, the number of papers were obviously increased after 1998. 2. In the design of research, survey studies were definitely dominant. But, they are gradually decreasing and experimental studies are increasing. 3. In the fields of research, health problems, health risk factors and health awareness were higher than others. Occupational health nurse's task and job satisfaction were main areas of research until the middle of 1990's. However, after then, not only health problem, risk factor and awareness of health but also health promotion and preventive health behavior are increasing in the research areas. 4. The collaborative researches have gradually increased and the type of author has been varied. The number of researches completed by funds was undertaking only 3 among the total 94. 5. In the research analysis, except for case studies and literature studies, the research subjects have been shifted from the occupational health nurses to the industrial workers, and more diversified. The sample size has been enlarged and the major place of the study is industry. The questionnaire was used in many studies as instrument for data collection and measurement. But, complementary methods of diverse instruments have been increased. The method of data analysis has obviously showed some changes moving from descriptive statistics to inferential and advanced statistics. 6. The ways of nursing intervention have prominently diversified in experimental studies. The contents of case studies were mainly focused on the health management programs and activities in industry. The research concepts and the contents of literature study were also changed progressively in various way. Based on the above findings, conclusions are extended to the following discussion: Since the Korean Academic Society of Occupational Health Nursing was instituted in 1990, the researches of occupational health nursing have shown an acute methodological development in both quantity and quality. However, they were considered still in the lack of research verifying the effects of nursing intervention program. Also, the development of nursing intervention and nursing theory lacked. Therefore, more empirical researches are strongly needed to utilize the field of occupational health nursing in Korea Researchers are also encouraged to exert more efforts to get research funds.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine types of parenting among fathers. The characteristics of parenting each type in early childhood were identified by systematically analyzing and classifying father's perceptions of parenting using the Q-methodology, which places importance on the perspective of the performer. Methods: The Q-method, which is effective for measuring individual subjectivity was used. The subjects in this study were 50 fathers with young children (2~36 months). Results: Four parenting types were identified analyzing the subjective perceptions of fathers with young children about parenting. One type was centered on character development. Another was centered on social development. A third was centered on physical health and development. The fourth was centered on building values. Conclusion: Parenting education programs should be developed based on type-specific characteristics and further research should investigate the effects of father's parenting type.
Background: The death rate of workers due to industrial accidents in South Korea (3.61 persons in 2017) is higher than the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development average (2.43) and the fifth highest among Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development member countries. Although the pandemic of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed, the socioeconomic aspects of Korean society, the number of Koreans suffering accidents and the number of deaths in 2020 have increased. It is necessary to take measures to prevent accidents and make comprehensive efforts to return to work. This study proposes research questions about the effect of workers' positive perception on whether to work after accidents and the impact of the experience of rehabilitation services on the return to work. Methods: This research performed a panel logistic regression analysis using data on workers' compensation insurance in Korea for two years (2018-2019). Results: This research finds that workers' positive perceptions of workability and life satisfaction contributed affirmatively to their re-employment. Several factors related to employment (e.g., work period, the number of job qualifications) also positively affect their return to work. However, the experience of rehabilitation services did not have a significant effect on re-employment. The variables of their health conditions (e.g., disability grade, feelings of health problems, age) negatively influenced their return to jobs. Conclusion: These results suggest the importance of workers' mental recovery and the need to innovate rehabilitation services for their employment. Positive thinking and self-rehabilitation could be critical for workers, parallel with social welfare policies.
The aim of the study is to analyze and evaluate the Child Health Management Service that was promoted as a part of Mother-Child Health Guidance Project by the Public Health Center of BukCheju-gun in 1999, to reflect the problems needed to be improved, and, thus, to present the integral program model for the Child Health Management Service that guides childhood health, regarded as the foundation of that of the adulthood period, to the optimum level. The common results of the evaluation of the Child Health Management Service of BukCheju-gun public health center are as below: 1. In the aspect of public information, the existing simple material and method of public information was not effective. 2. The opportunities for the necessary training and education to develop the persons concerned and their ability for the Child Health Management were not enough.3. The environment under which the service, aimed to promote Child's health, was carried out was not clearly divided from that of the services related with the prevention and treatment of disease. And the service environment for the child health was threatening to the clients.4. Still, the actual result was pursued more than the quality management, while carrying out the project. With the reflection of the above result, the research has presented the program model of Child Health Management Program for the next. The main concept of the model is, through the establishment of the network for information offerings and effective convergence of a variety of opinions for the community around the Public Health Center and for the correct evaluation of the project and the reflection of the result from it, to achieve the ultimate goal of the optimal growth and development of the childhood by expanding the support necessary for carrying out Child Health Management Program more effectively.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel are at high risk for adverse mental health outcomes during disease outbreaks. To support the development of evidence-informed mitigation strategies, we conducted a scoping review to identify the extent of research pertaining to EMS personnel's mental health during disease outbreaks and summarized key factors associated with mental health outcomes. We systematically searched three databases for articles containing keywords within three concepts: EMS personnel, disease outbreaks, and mental health. We screened and retained original peer-reviewed articles that discussed, in English, EMS personnel's mental health during disease outbreaks. Where inferential statistics were reported, the associations between individual and work-related factors and mental health outcomes were synthesized. Twenty-five articles were eligible for data extraction. Our findings suggest that many of the contributing factors for adverse mental health outcomes are related to inadequacies in fulfilling EMS personnel's basic safety and informational needs. In preparation for future disease outbreaks, resources should be prioritized toward ensuring adequate provisions of personal protective equipment and infection prevention and control training. This scoping review serves as a launching pad for further research and intervention development.

Dogs exhibit patterns of health issues that vary by life stage. An understanding of disease incidence with respect to breed and age/life stage could be an important component of canine health management and welfare. This study aimed to describe the age-specific disease incidence of 3 small dog breeds that attended veterinary clinics in the Republic of Korea, based on data from electronic veterinary medical records (EVMRs). A total of 40,785 EVMRs from Maltese (n = 21,355), Miniature Poodle (n = 11,658) and Shih Tzu dogs (n = 7,772) were analyzed. Common health problems in 3 small dog breeds were 'diseases of the skin' and 'diseases of the ear,' respectively. Among dogs aged ≤ 3 years, 'preventive medicine' was the most common cause cited for veterinary clinic visits. Among dogs aged 4 to 8 years, the most frequent health problems were 'diseases of the skin.' Among dogs aged 9 to 13 years, 'heart diseases,' 'kidney diseases,' 'mammary gland tumor,' and 'neoplasia (unspecified)' were considerably more frequent, compared to the rates in dogs ≤3 years. Among dogs aged ≥ 14 years, 'heart diseases' and 'sneezing/cough' were the main health problems. In all breeds, the frequencies of 'diseases of circulatory system,' 'diseases of respiratory system,' 'diseases of the nervous system,' 'endocrine' and 'neoplasia' increased rapidly with aging. This surveillance could inform strategies for disease screening tests and management based on life stage in these dog breeds and enable more effective health management.
Objectives: This paper discusses the current contexts of the collaboration between public health centers(PHCs) and community partners for health promotion. Then it suggests directions for the development and enhancement of the collaboration. Methods: The discussion in this paper is based on key literature on community health promotion, including literature reviews and case reports. Results: PHCs are mostly engaged in networking and cooperation rather than collaboration with the community. A typical pattern of cooperation is where PHCs provide healthy-setting types of programs to the community in single-partnered relationships. Current cooperation rarely involves co-planning by a multi-partnered partnership, and is greatly influenced by the interest of PHC directors and PHC performance evaluation indicators. Systems change is recommended to foster collaboration for community health promotion. Such change involves: shared understanding of health promotion and collaboration, inclusion of collaboration mechanism in public health governance, leadership development, capacity enhancement of all partners. role definition of PHCs for community collaboration, and development of collaborative system, at the least. Conclusions: At this point where collaboration should be more than rhetoric, multi-faceted, intersectoral, and concurrent approaches are required to create discourses, to develop cases, and to share experience for actual realization of collaboration for community health promotion.
Cranberries have long been used by lay people to relieve the symptoms of urinary tract infections. Recent research has determined that the component of cranberry called proanthocyanidin (PAC) is the primary mechanism for inhibiting P-fimbriated E.coli adhesion to uroepithelial cells in vitro. A series of experiments were performed to determine the effects of PAC on growth and adhesion of uropathogenic E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus to urinary catheter material. The results showed that PAC-inhibited binding of Gram positive S. aureus to collagen coated surfaces and significantly decreased the growth of these bacteria. P-fimbriated E.coli did not bind well to the biomaterial and their growth was unaffected by the cranberry extract with the exception of some loss in viability at 1000 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL after 5 to 18 hours of exposure. This is the first report of the potential for cranberries to interfere with the adhesion and growth of S. aureus, a multi-drug resistant organisms responsible for morbidity and mortality especially in hospitalized patients.
