Objective: Today The human need for health promotion and maintenance is increasing. Health professionals have a great responsibility for helping clients to practice good health behavior. We need to define compliance which is best fit in the philosophy of the health discipline. The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of compliance. Methods: Concept analysis is the act of examining parts, phenomenon and the interrelated parts of a whole. The process of concept approach described by Walker and Avant (1995). Is this study, a concept analysis of compliance was performed to comprehensively understand and develop effective health intervention methods: Result & Conclusion: The defining attributes of compliance identified in this study are as follows; the ability to complete or perform what is needs, to be malleability, to take initiative, to be adaptability and to be flexibility. 1) Be gentle and easily changeable (Malleability) 2) To take the initiative, a first step, or move towards an end or aim (Initiative) 3) Be able to change their ideas and behavior in order to deal with new situation (Adaptability) 4) Be able to change easily and adapt to different conditions and circumstances (Flexibility) Finally, the implication of these findings for further research and health promotion intervention are discussed.
This study was conducted to evaluated the effects of improvement on dental health behavior and dental health knowledge of adult group through dental health education program, the study subjects were 75, education group being 37(male 19, female 18) and non-education group being 38(male 19, female 19). who being in 2 office. The results of this study were as follow: 1. In the primary survey, the education group and non-education group showed no differences in sex, age, job year, income, smoking, self-rated dental health statues, DMFT index, a number of cervical abrasion tooth, dental health behavior, dental health knowledge. 2. before education program the use of tooth brushing method of horizontal+vertical was 40.6%, after education program the use of tooth brushing method of rolling was 89.2% in education group. 3. after education program the tooth brushing times was increased after-meal brushing, especially increased from 40.5% to 93.8% at after midday meal brushing. 4. the difference of mean change of dental health knowledge score after oral health education program had been studied. dental health knowledge score increased in 9.8 in the education group and non-education group in 1.6(pE0.001). 5. the difference of mean change of oral health promotion behavior after oral health education program had been studied, the frequence of tooth brushing(pE0.05), flossing(pE0.001), tongue brushing(pE0.001) was significantly increased in education group compare to non-education group. Above findings suggest that dental health education program was effective in improving the dental health behavior, dental health knowledge of the adult group.

Purpose: This study was conducted in order to closely examine the effects on bone mineral density and health promotion behaviors following the intervention of a 20-week Thera band exercise program targeting elderly women. Methods: This study is a pseudo-experimental research with a pre-and-post design in a single group that examined the effects after the intervention of Thera Band Exercise for 20 weeks targeting 31 elderly women over 60 years of age who visit a Senior Welfare Center located in K city. It analyzed subjects' general characteristics using error and percentage, health promotion behavior, and a bone density aspect using the mean and standard deviation, as well as a change in the health promotion behavior and bone density, before and after exercise with Paired t-test by using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The effect of the Thera band exercise program on bone mineral density was reduced (t=8.140, p<.001) gradually after 20 weeks of exercise compared to the pre-exercise period. The health promotion behavior before and after exercise showed the significantly increasing outcomes (t=3.26, p=.003). Conclusion: There is a limitation to a direct rise in bone mineral density with the use of Thera band exercise intervention in the elderly. A change in health promotion behavior before and after exercise increased significantly. Thus, it was confirmed that taking exercise leads to a gradual rise in health promotion behavior. Hence, it understood that continuous exercise is useful and brings about a positive change in promoting health maintenance in elderly women.
Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between resourcefulness and the health promoting behavior of high school girls. Methods: The subjects of this study consisted of 117 high school girls on S girls' high school. The data was analyzed with the SPSS computer program that includes descriptive statistics, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results: The mean age of subjects was 18.0 years old. The mean score of resourcefulness was 114.2. The most frequently practiced resourcefulness item was "By changing my way of thinking, I am often able to change my feelings about almost anything". The next most frequently practiced resourcefulness item was "My self-esteem increases when I am able to overcome a bad habit". There was no difference in the degree of resourcefulness with respect to the general characteristics. The mean score of health promoting behavior was 115.2. The group whose concerns over health was shown high health promoting behavior. The health education class group was shown high health promoting behavior. There was statistically significant positive correlation between resourcefulness and health promoting behavior of high school girls. Conclusion: The findings of this study provides promising evidence to construct further studies on the increasing health promoting behavior programs relating to high school girls. To increase health promoting behavior for high school girls, it is necessary to continue or possibly expand on existing health education programs.
Objectives: Analysis and understanding on the health trend of college and university students are paramount to creating healthy campus communities. We evaluated the change of health status, health behavior, and influencing factors among them in the last ten years. Methods: Using the results of the ACHA-National College Health Assessment from 2000 to 2009, we reanalyzed the trend of health condition, health behavior, and health risk factors in linear regression model. Results: In general health of college and university students, major health problem were allergy problems, back pain, and sinus infection. Academic impacts were stress, sleep difficulties, cold/flu, concern for troubled friend or family member, relationship difficulty, and internet use or computer games. Although regular exercise was decreasing among them, it were more likely to have never smoking, no sexual partner, and eating of fruits/vegetables as time passed (p<0.05, p<0.01). Obesity and sleeping difficulty were increasing, while it were less likely to have feeling very sad, feeling hopelessness, and considering attempting suicide (p<0.05, p<0.01). Conclusion: These data expand the understanding of the health needs and capacities among young adults. For Korean college and university students, it is necessary to standardize the data-collection survey to set the college health and healthy campus.
Objectives : With the increase in cancer prevalence, the health behavior of cancer survivors has become an important issue. This study was conducted to examine the psychosocial correlates of behavior changes after cancer diagnosis. Methods : 95 patients completed questionnaires assessing depression, anxiety, insomnia, posttraumatic stress symptoms, social constraints, personal beliefs about cancer cause and health-related behavior changes after cancer diagnosis. Results : In the multiple logistic regression analysis, insomnia was the only significant predictor of positive change in physical behavior : normal sleep group(Odds ratio=9.462, 95% CI 1.738-51.509) and subthreshold insomnia group(Odds ratio=10.529, 95% CI 1.701-65.161) showed a larger increase compared to the insomnia group. In psychosocial behavior, low age, religion and causal belief in hormonal factors were independent factors that predicted increase in positive change. Conclusions : This study showed a difference between predictors of physical and psychosocial health behavior change after breast cancer diagnosis. Multi-faceted approaches are required to promote positive change in health behavior in cancer patients.
This study was conducted to investigate provider's behavior change after releasing the information on the Cesarean section rate. Claims data filed at the National Health Insurance Corporation was used for this analysis and the focus of this study was the change of cesarean rate after the public disclosure of information. Average rates of the year 1999 and 2000 were compared, on the institutional basis, and range and coefficient of variation were estimated. For the last decade, Cesarean section rate has been increased dramatically. Clinical or demographic factors could not adequately explain the increase. Instead, nonclinical factors, such as financial incentive, physician's convenience, practice characteristics, etc., were more significant in explaining the increasing rate. Providers' behavior was significantly affected by the public release of information: after the release, average rate was decreased by 10.2%, and variations were also decreased. In particular, the extent of decrease was explained mainly by nonclinical factor rather than clinical ones. The results suggest that disseminating practice information to providers and consumers could contribute to reducing unnecessary medical service.

The Purpose of this study was to identify the process of change, decisional balance and self-efficacy corresponding to the stages of change in exercise behavior based on the Transtheoretical Model(TTM) in obese adolescents. A random sample of 517 obese adolescents was recruited in Pusan. The data were collected from June 15 to 30, 2004. The research instruments were Stages of Change for Exercise Behavior, Process of Change, Decisional Balance, and Self-Efficacy. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and ANOVA using SPSS WIN 10.0 program. The results of this study were as follows 1. The subjects were distributed in each stage of exercise behavior: There were 255 subjects($49.3\%$) in the contemplation stage, 131 subjects($25.3\%$) in the preparation stage, 52 subjects($10.1\%$) in the maintenance stage, 41 subjects($7.9\%$) in the action stage, and 38 subjects($7.4\%$) in the precontemplation stage. 2. Analysis of variance showed that cognitive process (F=13.57, p=.000), behavioral process(F=17.23, p=.000), decisional balance pros(F=11.95, p=.000), and self efficacy(F=12.52, p=.000) were significantly associated with the stages of exercise behavior change, but decisional balance cons(F=2.87, p=.023) was not significantly associated with the stages of exercise behavior change. This study can provide useful information for developing effective exercise behavior program considering obese adolescents' stages of change according t'.t the TTM.
This study analyzes how health education program affect elderly's health knowledge, behavior and health state. Also purposes of this program are to have healthy lifestyle and change health behavior to improve life. The subject of study was over 60 years old 175 persons, which include 89 persons of experience group and 86 persons from social well-being center in seoul. The data was collected by measurement of knowledge, behavior on health. The pre-research was performed before health education and post-research was performed immediately after the education. Collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS win 11.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The health knowledge points of experience group improved than the control group's and there is statistically significant difference. 2. The health behavior points of experience group were higher than the control group's and the difference was statistically significant. 3. The perceived health state of experience group was better than the control group's and the difference was statistically significant. 4. There are correlations among knowledge, behavior and perceived health state: Knowledge and behavior are positively correlated and behavior and perceived health state have a positive correlation.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the factors influencing health behavior. Method: Data used in this study was drawn from a 2001 National Health survey done by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. Number of samples were 5,085 people between age 20 years and 69 years in whole country. In this study, we modified Green and Kreuter's Precede-Proceed model to analyse influence of factors in health behavior, Hierarchical regression were used in the analysis. Result: 1) Factors that had statistically significant positive relation with overall health behavior were age, educational level, income level, disease in the family, medical examination, subjective weight, and concern about health, 2) Factors that had statistically significant negative relation with overall health behavior were sex, subjective health, stress, and degree of physical activity. Conclusion: 1) It would be necessary to set the target group for the health promotion in advance. 2) It was very important to adopt easy and efficient methods to change the health behavior of target group, for example, ability to control stress.
