This study intends analyzes the experience urbanites need regarding rural amenities when visiting rural areas for leisure. For this purpose, 18 rural amenities that can be experienced at 65 traditional rural villages and are designated by the rural development administration(RDA) were selected. Based on rural amenity selection, a questionnaire survey was conducted in 10 cities with 1,052 urban residents. The cities were divided into 5 metropolitan cities(Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Kwangju and Daejeon) and 5 small cities in each province(Chuncheon, Suwon, Jeonju, Chungju and Pohang). The study results suggest that of the 18 rural amenities, urbanites want greater experience with landscape resources near water and forests, health resources related to food and traditional resources such as traditional architecture and culture. Those amenities not chosen were animals, famous people and agricultural landscapes. In addition, women indicated more experience needs than men. Specifically, women want to experience the rural amenities dealing with tradition and health. In addition, people under 40 want to experience active program related festivals(events) and arts and crafts, whereas the group over 40 prefers a non-active program, such as observing the rural landscape and planting. College graduates want to experience the landscape while college students prefer arts and crafts and festivals(events). Those with below average salaries want to experience the most rural amenities. There were no differences in experience needs between those surveyed in metropolitan cities and those in small cities. Finally, the people who visited rural areas within the last year want to experience water, plants, agricultural landscape, health and rural life resources more than other groups, and there is correlation between plans to visit rural villages and experience needs. The results of this study provide insightful information for rural planning strategies such as selection of the type of marketing segments.
Recent advances in Geographic Information Systems and spatial statistical and analytical methods, along with the availability of spatially referenced health and environmental data, have created unique opportunities to investigate spatial associations between environment exposures and health outcomes at multiple spatial scales and resolutions. However, the increased use of spatial data also faces challenges, one of which is to ensure certainty and accuracy of locational data that meets the needs of a study. This article critically reviews the use of spatially referenced data in epidemiologic studies, focusing on the issue of locational uncertainty generated from the process of geocoding health and environmental data. Primarily, major issues involving the use of spatially referenced data are addressed, including completeness and positional accuracy, potential source of bias and exposure misclassification, and implications for epidemiologic studies. The need for critical assessment and caution in designing and conducting spatial epidemiology studies is briefly discussed.
Purpose: A user centered web-based mental health management system may be particularly useful in Korea where there is widespread diffusion of personal computers and internet connectivity. The purpose of this paper was to describe the development of a web-based system for mental health management in adolescents using principals of a user centered design. Method: Our design process includes five distinct phases: needs assessment, analysis, design, development/testing/revision, and application release. Results: Web content includes an introduction, information about mental health management in adolescents, self-assessment and guidance, interventions for improving mental health, directory of self-help groups, and counseling and additional community resources. The web site was released using the URL: http://www.baejy.com/youth. Conclusion: The end result was a web based mental health management system for adolescents with a high degree of usability. The author believes that web-based mental health interventions in the future have true potential in helping Koreans who are suffering, or at risk, for mental health problems, particularly because of the stigma related to psychiatric therapy in Korea.
Recently, almost of the colleges are contrive measures to satisfy the needs of students. The purpose of this study is to find what are the impact factors to the needs of those. To evaluate the factors influencing to students behaviors, it was investigated how much did the 5 variety of Service quality-Tangibles, Assurance, Responsiveness, Empathy, Reliability-and 4 variety of attitude models to depending to the level of students influence the satisfaction of students for the students of W college. In the result, this study shows that 5 variety of Service quality did not impact for the general service quality, but only the Responsiveness and, Empathy have the positive relationship to the satisfaction of students. Also, general service quality and attitude willingness have the positive correlation with the satisfaction of students. And it is investigated that there are significance differences among the general service qualities by the level of students ability.
The purpose of this study is to develop a framework for evaluating security levels in hospitals. We classify security indicators into administrative, technical and physical safeguards. The security evaluation model for hospital information systems was applied to three general hospitals. The analysis of the results showed a low security level in information systems. In particular, requirements for administrative and physical safeguards were very low. Hospitals need strict security policies more than other organizations because their information systems contain patients' highly confidential data. The evaluation model developed in this study can be used for guidelines and as a checklist for hospitals. The security evaluation in hospital informational systems needs to be an essential element of hospital evaluation.
This study was carried out to idenify the health problems and needs of crippled persons in order to develop a community based rehabilitation service program through public health center. Information on health problems and needs were obtained from 120 crippled persons staying at home by questionaire and a measuring ADL. The results were summarized as follows 1. Among 120 subjects, male crippled (70.3%) outnumbered female crippled (29.7%). Many crippled persons belonged to the 40-49 age group (33.6%) while others were over 60 years (17.4%). There were 36.8% crippled persons with an elementary education, 26.5% had completed high school, 14.5% had completed middle school. 31% of the crippled persons were employed but most of them had unskilled jobs. 80% of the respondents replied that their monthly income was under 800,000 won. 2. The major causes of their handicap were due to acquired factors(92%) such as accidents, in fectious & communicable diseases and chronic diseases rather than congenital factors(8%). Crippled persons who belong to the first grade of disabilities were 14.8%, the second grade 35.7%, the third grade 21.7%, the forth grade 12.2%, the fifth grade 12.2% and the sixth grade 3.5%. 3. This study measured the degree of the ADL of crippled persons by a modified Barthel Index including 11 items. 73.5% of them were fully independent, 8.5% required minimal help, 2.7% required moderate help, 6.0% required substantial help and 9.4% were unable to perform task. In response to the 11 items of ADL, crippled persons required more help in stair climbing, ambulation and bathing than in other items. 4. In responding to concerning health problems, 10.3% of the subjects replied with incontinence, 8.5% malnutrition, 7.6% fecal incontinence and bedsores 2.6%. Chronic diseases which needs treatment were chronic pain(61.0 %), hypertension(16.5%) and diabetes(16.5%) 5. To the question of what type of rehabilitation services subjects required, chronic diseases management(52.1%) and physical therapy (41.2%) were the highest. The most important social welfare services subjects required were economics support (51.3%) and introductions to job opportunities(42%).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to measure the knowledge. Attitude and the needs of sex education for college students in order to provide basic sex education information. Both gender in sexual knowledge, male students correctly responded 86.4% form ejaculating sperm from the penis. Females on the other hand correctly responded 96% in the highest score to menstruation blood through out the vagina. Both gender male and female is wished to be co-education in sex education in college at a freshmen level. Sex education should be under by special lecture when education is in progress. Males student want to learn more about V. D. Females in the other hand want to learn a lot about contraceptive. Conclusion: In conclusion college sex education should be basic. knowledgeable and for the future of there on going marriage. It should be responsible in sex education, it should run under regular curriculum in college.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the current status and needs in neonatal emergency training for nursing students in Korea and to obtain preliminary information to develop a simulation based educational program on neonatal emergency care for nursing students. Methods: Structured questionnaires were distributed to five hospitals and ten nursing schools during April and May, 2012. Data were collected from 59 nurses who worked in the nursery or Neonatal Intensive Care Units and 13 nursing educators who had specialized in pediatric nursing. Results: Most nurses (86.4%) reported that they had experienced an emergency situation with newborns. Most nursing educators (84.6%) claimed that more intensive training with newborns is needed for nursing students. In particular, training in neonatal resuscitation (72.2%), respiratory distress (59.7%), and neonatal seizures (18.1%) were highly recommended as simulation based training for nursing students. Conclusion: A significant need for neonatal emergency educational programs was found. More efforts should be made to provide nursing students with knowledge and skills for working with neonates. The findings of this survey will ultimately provide a basis for developing a simulation based educational program on neonatal emergency care for nursing students.
Purpose: As health care needs for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) are becoming increasingly important, it has become imperative for the nurses to be attentive towards their health problems and provide nursing care with an open-minded attitude. Due to limited opportunity to provide direct nursing care to LGBT patients, it is hypothesized that simulation would provide good opportunity for students to experience LGBT nursing care in a safe environment. This study was conducted to develop and apply simulation of LGBT nursing care to ultimately provide unbiased nursing care for LGBT population and prepare basic data for LGBT nursing education. Methods: This study was a single-group pre-post experimental design study for 57 senior nursing students based on the comparison of existing LGBT knowledge, general attitude towards LGBT, and nursing attitude towards LGBT before and after simulation. The scenario content included discussion of coming out issue, providing sexual health information, and supportive nursing care for LGBT population. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon signed rank. Results: Simulation education-led to a significant increase in LGBT knowledge and nursing attitude. However, there was no change in the general attitude towards LGBT. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that LGBT education using simulation may be effective for nursing students and nurses from the point of concern for LGBT population. It is hypothesized that future LGBT educational programs might need more detailed information from both care recipients and nurses. Finally, LGBT education needs to be included in the nursing education curriculum.
