  • Objectives: It has been found that health promotion interventions are effective to decrease morbidity among older people. The acceptability of interventions are, however, still troublesome for achievement of efficacy of health promotion interventions. The current study examines the effects of age identity and attitude toward aging on the use of health promotion programs among older people. Methods: Data from the Survey of Living Conditions of Korean Older Persons were used. Logistic regression models were tested using a nationally representative sample of 9,461 community-dwelling older individuals who are 65 years old and over. Results: Older individuals who have younger age identity and more negative attitude toward aging were less likely to use health promotion programs, after adjusting the effects of other predisposing, enabling, and need factors such as demographic characteristics and personal health characteristics. Conclusions: Strategies for mitigating the possible effects of age identity and attitude toward aging on the acceptability of health promotion programs are also discussed.

  • Purpose: To determine whether maternal attitude toward sex during pregnancy and health-related quality of life could influence sexual function of pregnant women. Methods: In this study, 138 second and third trimester pregnant women completed self-report questionnaires during their visits to women's hospitals or community health centers to assess their general characteristics, attitude toward sex during pregnancy (PIES-M), health-related quality of life (EQ-5D), and sexual function (FSFI-6K). Multiple regression analysis was performed to test the research model with SPSS version 23. Results: Pregnant women who had discontinued their sexual life after recognizing their pregnancy accounted for 27.5% of women questioned. The average sexual function score of pregnant women was higher in the second trimester than the third trimester. Attitude toward sex during pregnancy (${\beta}=-.38$, p<.001), maintaining sexual life (${\beta}=.20$, p=.028), health-related quality of life (${\beta}=.18$, p=.030), and adverse symptoms during sex (${\beta}=.18$, p=.042) were determinants of sexual function during pregnancy. • The purpose of this study was to assess medical professionals' knowledge and attitude about AIDS. The subjects of study were medical doctors and dentists, belonging to Korea Association of Public Health Doctors. We sent a e-mailed questionnaire to 3,059 members and received 407 replies. Questionnaire was made on the basis of former studies' results and interviews with infected people. Major findings of this study were as follow. A lot of medical professionals had incorrect and biased knowledge about AIDS. More than half of them overestimated infection probability in case of being prickled with a contaminated needle. And many has negative attitude. The more they had correct informations about AIDS, the more they had possibilities to have friendly attitude to infected people. Incorrect knowledge cause excessive fears about AIDS, which amplify the stigma and discrimination. They contribute to people's vulnerability not only to HIV infection but also to other threats to health and well-being. It is in need of medical professionals' effort to increase their knowledge and improve attitude about AIDS.

  • A simulated control group pretest-posttest design was used to investigate the effects of a health promotion education program on knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy in sexuality, drinking, and smoking among college women. The subjects included 17 women in the experimental group, and twenty in the control group. This program was carried out for a total of four sessions, two hours per session once a week. The results were as follows; 1) Knowledge on sexuality, drinking, and smoking increased significantly in the experimental group compared to the control group (U=66.50, p=.001 ; U=23.50, p=.000; U=29.50, p=.000). 2) For attitude, only the attitude to drinking showed a significant difference between the two groups (U=76.00, p=.004). 3) For self-efficacy, only self-efficacy on drinking showed a significant difference between the two groups (U=55.00, p=.000). In conclusion, the health promotion program for college women increased their knowledge on sexuality, drinking, and smoking. This program affected their attitude and self-efficacy towards moderation in drinking. A even more appropriate education program on sexuality, drinking, and smoking for college women could be developed using this program by addressing the limitations in this study and repeating the study with a more varied sample.

The statistical method of analysis for homogeneity test of general characteristics was used ${\chi}^2$-test and for the effects of school health education through lessons was used unpaired t-test by SPSS/WIN 18.0 Program. Results: After the 25-hour health education lessons, statistical significance was observed between the experimental group and the control group to health knowledge. But two groups did not reach statistical significance on health attitude and health behavior.
