This paper presents a computationally efficient post-processing algorithm for HDTV. The proposed algorithm can reduce both blocking artifacts and mosquito noise while preserving the sharpness and naturalness of the reconstructed video signal. Performance improvements compared with other techniques are obtained according to simulation results.

본 논문은 VSB 전송방식의 HDTV 수신기에 입력되는 신호의 위상잡음 및 이득오차를 없애주는 위상 추적 루프를 설계하였다. 위상 추적 루프는 VSB 신호가 가지는 신호점과 입력된 I 채널의 표본화된 데이터를 이용하여 신호점들의 Q 채널 성분을 추정한 다음 복소곱셈기를 이용하여 입력신호와 곱합으로써 위상의 에러값을 보상하는 구조로 되어 잇다. 위상오차를 검출하는 알고리즘으로 시그늄 함수를 이용함으로써 하드웨어의 부담을 줄이면서 넓은 선형영역을 가질 수 있게 되어 우수한 추적 성능을 가지는 위상 추적 루프를 구현하였고 소프트웨어 심류레이션을 통하여 제시한 알고리즘의 효율성을 입증한 후 ASIC으로 구현하였다.

미국, 일본 및 유럽을 중심으로 오랫동안 검토가 진행되어 왔던 HDTV(High Definition TV)가 2005년을 본격적인 상용화의 원년으로 하여 각국에서 많은 활동이 이루어지고 있다. HDTV 보급에 있어서, 핵심적인 부문을 차지하고 있는 Display는 지난 백 여년간 그 명맥을 유지하여 오던 CRT(Cathode Ray Tube)가 Display의 Size 및 해상도면에서 그 한계를 드러냄에 따라 그 퇴조를 선언하고, 대체 Device의 출현을 기대하고 있다. 특히 기술 개발의 중심이 되고 있는 플라즈마 디스플레이(PDP, Plasma Display) 및 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)는 평판 디스플레이로서의 장점으로 차별화 되어 그 발전가능성에 많은 관심을 받고 있으며, 그로 인한 약진이 두각을 나타내고 있다. 본 논문은 디지털 TV에 접목하는 멀티미디어 부가기능 모듈 내의 영상 출력 처리부 개발에 관한 것이다. 이 영상 출력 처리부는 영상 데이터 처리부로 부터의 저 프레임의 HD영상 입력을 TV시스템에서 사용 가능한60프레임의 HD영상으로 출력하는 기능을 수행한다. 이렇게 함으로써 기존 시스템의 영상 처리부에서 60프레임의 영상 출력을 위해 사용한 프로세서 성능을 제안된 시스템에서는 저 프fp임 영상 출력에 해당하는 정도로 줄여줄 수 있으며 이는 시스템의 비용 절감 및 다양한 부가 기능 추가로 연결 되어질 수 있다.

We propose the dejittering method against the jitter originated from the cell losses in ATM network when CBR traffic is transfereed on AAL5. Cell numbering algong with maintaining a timer at receier side introduces 0.669 times peak-to-peak PDV of the AAL5 PDU to that in ITU-T AAL5 standard, and the AAL5 user-HDTV decoder-receives the same or more error-free transport packets in the proposed algorithm than those in the ITU-T AAL5 standard for the same network simulation environment.

In Japan, digital HDTV services via broadcasting satellite are planned to start in 2000. NHK has developed an HDTV codec conforming to the MPEG-2 $MPHL$ and estimated the coded picture quality with diverse image sequences. This paper shows the codec specifications and presents the result of the picture quality assessment.

HDTV로 전환되면서 방송국에서는 4:3의 SDTV와 16:9의 HDTV가 동시 방송되는 과도기를 맞고 있다. 유럽에서 채택한 DTV 표준인 DVB 방식인 경우 MPEG에 화면 비 정보와 AFD 정보를 신호에 실어 수신 장치에서 화변 비 정보를 알 수 있도록 하고 있다. 이 정보를 이용하여 방송에 따라 화면 비를 설정하고 최적의 화면 비율 상태로 시청할 수 있는 모드를 제공하도록 소프트웨어로 구현하고자 한다.
